Also I'd say only people who were raised in times when og disco polo was popular listen to modern disco polo. Young people hate it

But it gets to your head. You may say that it is mainly popular in rural areas and by old people or uneducated but the truth is that it gets most streams and views from drunk students from big cities.

In Poland in opposition to US song, the lyrics and songs in most cases (90+%) are meant to convey feeling not only be rythmic. When you understand Polish, those songs are much more powerful and engaging. 👍🏻 Especially rap, rock and pop.

That genre that you are not familiar with is called Disco Polo. It has very simple melody, even more simple lyrics and it creates mixed feelings in our society. Basically - a lot of polish people hates on disco polo but once it is played on a party, in the club or on weddings parties, everyone is jumping, shouting and having the best time of their life. And after that party, they are embarassed that they knew every single lyric of those songs. Most of disco polo "artists" are one-hit-wonders but there is couple of them known for longer time like Zenek Martyniuk or Piekni i Młodzi.

Taco Heminway is one of most popular rapers last 10 years. He's called raper for hipsters but in fact he's records are best sold in polish rap after 2000. With Dawid Podsiadło they performed in Narodowy Stadium for the first time in polish music history.

Well, I can't stand disco polo. It's terribly boring and repetitive, musically it's zero. It's hard to stand, except for just a few songs (and disco polo is already 35 years old and has hundreds of songs). I even like those few songs, but not too much at once. At weddings, I definitely prefer different music: good rock and pop, or electronic music, if a good team gathers. Or, when the fun is at 300%, good versions of classical Polish, Hungarian or Balkan folk music

As it comes for Męskie Granie, its like a every year thnig, so u can get different anthem from different artists each year. If you would like to check some Polish rap scene, there was a lot of great artists back in the days, like Paktofonika, Grammatik, LiROY, Peja, Kaliber44, ABRADAB, WWO, Wzgórze YaPa3, Warszawski Deszcz, O.S.T.R and many many more. Few months ago, there was a big colab in polish rap scene, when LiROY, PEJA and ABRADAB have made a track called Idę Dalej, produced by DJ HWR. It's awesome by the way. You can check it if you want. Jestem z Polski i ta lista to niestety żenada, wiem, że w streamingu tak jest ale połowa to muzyka mało ambitna lub słuchana głównie przez nastolatki. Harnaś Ice Tea is a funny one, because it wasn't intended as product placement, it was just an idea to mix ice tea with Harnaś (Polish beer) by Gawryle, the group that made the song and the owner of Harnaś liked that idea, so they made it into reality and that beer mixed with ice tea tastes amazing, it's available every summer in Polish shops Also Sobel is kind of Polish version of Post Malone, they both started with rap, made big success, then had some controversies or were in bad mental state and now they are doing music different than rap and going back to the top with it

Taconafide was a profit collaboration of 2 famous rappers Taco Hemingway and Quebonafide (that's why TACO as the beggining of the name and NAFIDE as the end) to an album "Soma 0,5g" (2018) and it's continuation and remix "Soma 0,25g" (2018) Privately they're great friends and this album was probably the best selling album in Poland of all time. I think Bedoes album "Opowieści z Doliny Smoków" (2019) was close but didn't reach the podium. Honestly it's hard to say which one of the rappers/singers is the best since it's more style-like and mood-like comparison. As for my main it's probably either Taco or Quebonafide, but I like others too. Polish music industry is really separated in genres and everyone will find something for themselves. In terms of disco polo (you probably already know the genre since people told u in comments) There is a very popular saying: „nobody listens to it but everybody knows it” (which I think used to be true but is not so true for most recent disco polo songs). This is mostly listened by older generation USUALLY (not always) from within lower class. You can also clearly see the disproportion of YT streams vs Spotify streams). While most of the song have this disproportion the disco polo songs (btw personally I think this is is trash) is largest. This is because it is usually listened in a following setting: „One middle aged/older man with big abdominal obesity sitting with his family and friend on small 10m x 10m ‚plot’ (literally a piece of land with very small wooden hous for the only purpose of it being sort of „vacation place”) drinking beer and randomly playing disco polo on Bluetooth speaker from YT” - he doesn’t pay for Spotify nor YT premium, just randomly plays disco polo songs on parties. In general - there ARE some (very few) disco polo songs that actually are liked by the „masses”, but they usually also have some elements of rap mixed in or some interesting setting, but this rarely happens. Usually is listen to by people described above or just „as a joke” on younger generation parties

25 :54 Męskie granie ( in English Men's playing) is a music project that contains some tour each year in few polish cities but almost always the last concert is in Żywiec ( a town in southern Poland which by the way is close to my hometown and has the brewery producing beer and that's beer name is also Żywiec and patronates Męskie Granie) but following most important informations first edition took place in 2010 and to be honest the first two editions was the best they had great theme songs and also combained many music genres for example even jazz, through the years unfortunetely this project "came out" and stopped being underground and evoluated into more mainstream pop music. You should really listen to theme songs of Męskie Granie from 2010 and 11 cause they are real masterpiece compared to the recent editions
