Lanipator, the voice of Piccolo, Krillin, and many others in the Abridged, made a good point (one I'm sure others have as well) that the dubbed version of Gohan's transformation is meant to be epic while the original Japanese version as well as the Abridged version intends for it to be more of a sad moment. The transformation is cool and all, but this is essentially an 11 year old (or however old he really is since I've seen debates on the topic) forced to grow up. You can even hear it in the cover of the song TFS did. The "evil soul" that the song talks about isn't Cell, it's Gohan. He's forced to confront all those darker emotions inside himself and use the power that comes along with it to kill, something no child should be made to do.

A few points of trivia: it's hard to hear, but apparently every time that Cell jr kicks Krillin he says "Ding!" During the debut stream there were something like 32k viewers. There were so many bit drops and subs that it broke streamlabs. Part 2 repeated this and part 3 will probably do the same. The song at used during Gohan's transformation is an English cover of the song used in the japanese version and is great.

Honestly, TFS's version of Gohan's transformation is my favourite version of the scene. I love how deadly serious it's taken, I love the score, 16 & Cell absolutely crushing Gohan with their speeches, it's just perfectly done. the cell jr may not have been there, but the little bug cameras were. They caught all the fights from when goku entered the 2nd tournament against tien and continued until they went to namek. that data was uploaded into cell

That is why I love this series, DBZA has fun, points out flaws and mistakes and makes them a joke but still honors the original series. Then there is the moments like Gohan vs Cell which may be the TFS version but they are still done so well and keep the tone of it right, truly they are an amazing team and can produce something that is second only to the originals and that is no small feat.
