New York, New York was written for Liza as the theme song for her 1977 movie of the same name. Frank Sinatra covered it a few years later. Liza and Michael Jackson were very good friends - she was a great dancer and they taught each other different moves. Liza worked with Bob Fosse many times and I believe Michael was influenced by Fosse's style so there's some cross over in their styles. That short pixie hair cut has been Liza's signature style for decades :)

Liza has won the Tony many times starting in 1965 (age 19) for "Flora the Red Menace". She won the Oscar for "Cabaret" (1973) and of course, is Judy Garland's eldest child. She's also won the Emmy for "Liza with a Z" and also the Grammy , but I can't remember why she won the Grammy. I saw her 2x in concert....phenomenal.

Hey guys, you killed it with this reaction. This song means a lot to me as it was one of my mom's favorite songs. She is now in heaven. This song was written for Liza Minelli for the film "New York New York" and then many renditions by thousands of singers were released later, including Frank Sinatra. Liza owns this song. Truly no one else. I love the fact that the newer generations like yourselves can appreciate these timeless classics. I truly enjoyed this video and please keep them coming. Liza With a Z is one of her best concerts to watch & it's from the 70s. Seriously she gives it everything when she performs. Also Liza At Radio City Music Hall is phenomenal as well. The performance you watched is her at the top of her game & in those 2 concerts she definitely gives her all. She's basically old hollywood royalty with her father being one of the best directors and her mother being the most iconic performer of her time, she also happens to be Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz! With a background like that it's still amazing she managed to come out from under their shadows and make a Legend of herself. This was a great react and a pleasure to watch!

Judy Garland is Liza’s mom and kinda guided her music wise and it shows because they are both very theatrical and big stage presences. Lisa has had a lot of success in movies, broadway music, and concerts. She is the original New York, New York singer. Any video you watch from that Paris concert or even her Radio City Music Hall concert are amazing. And she was in her 40s in the 90s so she looked amazing and sounded the best she ever had. You guys should watch her perform Some People or Cabaret.
