I never hated Kabuto even before we knew his story; to me he was Loyal follower and would do anything he was asked to do. Also, he was strong, he outwitted Kakashi and had a good chance in a 1v1 against Tsunade.

I can hate him, but then that's whole point, isn't it? On the other hand, he can be seen as pitiable in his own right. Many people have pointed out that he actually displayed a few behaviors (particularly not even really being upset when his parents died) that would suggest he is a textbook psychopath, actually incapable of feeling anguish or remorse even if he wanted to, through no fault of his own, it's just the way he was born and there's no helping it. This IS mostly a fan theory though, so take it with a grain of salt.

I know Naruto's series very well. And I know all characters very well. But I still don't understand Orochimaru perfectly. Sometimes his motivation is completely discouraging. What's going on in his head? Just. Attack on the Leaf village in first season was not simple vengeance for the fact that he was not made a hokage. But why? For Sasuke's body? There were many other simpler ways for this. And I can recall other examples.

Stanislav C he's a total psychopath, even as a child who hadn't seen the horrors of the world, he still didn't show emotion at his parents death, he tried to make death pointless by discovering immortality only to get selfish and make himself immortal. Then his goals transfered into a hunt for power so he captured and groomed exceptional children to take their bodies such as sasuke and kimimaro, he's driven on becoming the ultimate being.

keep in mind, Kabuto showed up in the very early naruto story, at the beginning of the chunin exams. It took so many years before his backstory was FINALLY explained. Is he a douche? absolutely. But as I said a long time ago in another comment: Everyone who is a player in this show was formed by previous wars or the shady backstory of their clan/upbringing. Its a red line in this show. Even Orochimaru, briefly, was given a small backstory about where his snake obsession stems from (he found the skin of a white snake on the graves of his parents, and the Third Hokage explained to him some people believe it symbolises rebirth). Its wonderfully consistent, and as the story progresses, you will see more backstories still.

Wolf Ying The only thing about Kabuto's backstory to me is it feels like there was some deeper mystery to his childhood that was either discarded or forgotten. Namely that he was this little white-haired kid found as the sole survivor of a battle that destroyed an entire village. I always thought that they were going to do a reveal to make him part of a major clan like the Senju or Uzumaki, given that he and Tobi are both built up as foils to Sasuke and Naruto.

I hope you read this Curtis. I really like Kabuto as a villain, in almost all anime, series, movies villains start way powerful than the protagonist but Kabuto isn't like that, he grew from a side character to a worthy villain alongside the protagonist. This is why I also like Cell from Dragon Ball Z too. You could call them an underdog villain and the idea of Kabuto's growth is a fresh take to villain characters. Speaking of villain, Danzo is way hateable, that guy didn't get to do anything right, he's the cause of majority of conflicts in Naruto.

It's a theme of Naruto at this point that the shinobi world is full of hatred and hidden cruelties, but somehow it's always Danzo who can be held responsible. There should be more characters like him, also from other villages, to really emphasize that the world is that bad, not one or two individuals

That's the tragedy of Kabuto... he kinda had no choice... He was taken in by Orochimaru and Danzo... Both of them single-handedly brainwash tons of children into being loyal servants... even if you could resist one... no way you'd resist both. Kabuto being pretty much the worlds greatest spy who infiltrated every nation including the Akatsuki explains why he's so smug and smarmy... He's been conning people his whole life. He's strong enough to fight Kage level ninja(Tsunade)... give Kakashi doubt in his own abilities(which pretty much is the only reason he started training again)... make short work of dozens of Anbu who are considered elite ninja and stand next to Orochimaru as his most respected right hand man. Orochimaru a ninja that can use all 5 chakra natures and casually kill Kage...

What i think is really redeeming about Orochimaru is honestly that he has absolutely no redeeming qualities. He's the only Naruto Villain that genuinely doesn't seem to have gripes with anything or anyone besides Sarutobi & maybe Itachi. Something I just realized...how was kabuto able to enter the chunin exams? --He used the name kabuto in the chunin exams --Danzo could have assassinated Kabuto back then. Afcourse he wanted the third hokage gone....and his alliance with orogimaru could also be a reason that kabuto is still alive. --Kakashi was also part of the foundation for a while. But he didn't recognized him. which could make sense..since kabuto was a spy..not many people should know him. ---Bottom line...Kabuto was Lucky---

I think one of the flaws but also unique aspect of the Naruto series is that the main series villains; Pain, Obito, and Madara , all wanted world peace with each following person being darker and more corrupt in the process. Pain's plan was to use the tailed beast kinda like nukes and create a sort of nuclear holocaust where there would be temporary peace and just repeat the process again when peace died down, Obito wanted to change the world as well but was so into looking at the past and not moving on that he mainly thought that the world was shit and just not worth anything so why not create a fake world. Madara wanted peace, but having unlike Obitio lived at a time of both war and peace thought that it couldn't be done forever hence his words "In a world of winners, there are also losers" so why not become a god-like being and just remake the world by stripping the world of it's free will. Danzo is evil, and seems to be as evil as Madara, give or take and aside from Orochimaru and Hidan, is one of the most evil people in the story. He says everything is for the village, yet not only did he like Obito and Madara, fuck with so many people's lives that he created mutiple villains (Pain, Kabuto, and Sasuke), but multiple times he used his village for personal gain. Danzo and his Root group literally did nothing during the pain arc knowing that many people were going to die and the village would be destroyed just so he could pick up the pieces and be in charge even stating that the village being destroyed was Tsunade's fault. If Sasuke didn't kill his ass and Danzo was still alive by the end of shippuden or in the boruto series he would still be fucking up lives. Glad he's dead I just wish Dnzo and Naruto had a scene together. But its clear that Danzo only saw Naruto as a weapon since he was the Nine tails's host and even said after the Pain arc that he couldn't do anything to him yet since he Naruto beat Pain and Naruto's talking brought everyone who died back to life.

Fun fact: Danzo is responsible for 90% of the problems in the series. Without him Orochimaru wouldn’t have been able to hide his experiments for so long, Kabuto, the Uchiha would still be alive, Akatsuki would never have become what it became and a bunch of other stuff offscreen (I read somewhere that it is implied that he was the one who leaked Naruto’s circumstances to the public and continuously pestered Hiruzen to allow him to ‘properly’ train him). I guess we should be thankful he was such an ass thus making the series so interesting.

Question: a Kabuto at max power, with all the Edo Tensei available, could put in difficulty (and maybe defeat? ) even Madara edo Tensei (not the one with a real Rinnegan of course). Cause face people like Nagato, Kakuzu, Deidara, Sasori, 3rd Raikage, 2nd Mizukage, Ginkaku, Kinkaku etc. in add to Sage Kabuto could be very difficult even for an Edo Madara

Danzo's is one the most realistic shinobi in the series. You who else Danzo has a lot in common with?
