Oogie Boogie is a much beloved Disney Villain, The movie is extremely popular. Where Home Free ar labeled with doing more country type songs, Voiceplay have been labeled the "theater kids" of accapella.They are born and raised in Orlando, Fl and they began with a few being high school friends in choir together. They have history working in stage shows at Disney and Universal. They arrange and produce everything themselves. They do their own sets, costuming, lighting, etc.

This is a song out of the movie "Nightmare Before Christmas". Jack the Pumpkin wanted to do Santa's part for Christmas and Santa fell into the Oogie Boogie's trap. Jack rescues Santa before the bad Oogie Boogie can hurt Santa. VoicePlay is in Orlando, and all have worked at Disney, Universal or other theme parks.] so they have learned the fine art of dressing up and playing parts for their audiences.

This one does a great job of showcasing VoicePlay's bass singer, Geoff Castellucci, but he _can_ sing both higher and lower than he did here, and their lineup has changed since this came out. Check out their covers of Nothing Else Matters, Valhalla Calling, Hoist the Colours, In the Air Tonight and We Don't Talk About Bruno--they're all more recent and all excellent. Geoff also has his own solo channel amd his covers of Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold, I See Fire, Ghost Riders in the Sky and The Sound of Silence are not to be missed. That said, these guys are incapable of producing bad music, so you won't go wrong no matter which of their videos you check out. Liked and subscribed, looking forward to more!

So, I have heard VoicePlay described as the theater kids of Acapella. This showcases that statement perfectly. This is from the Nightmare Before Christmas. Two songs that I really like by them are Carry On Wayward Son, and Tennessee Whiskey.

There has been a lineup change since this. The present members are... Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - Bass, Arrangements. Layne Stein - beatboxer, baritone, arrangements. Eli (like jelly) Jacobson - tenor, rock tenor, lighting. Cesar De La Rosa - baritone, Tenor. They collaborate with various singers for the 5th. Voiceplay just released their new video Friday... In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins. It is awesome as is all their videos. The one they did last month is.... Seven Nation Army by White Stripes. Geoff has his own channel where he sings solo non Acapella. He usually clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. His last video came out a week ago... I See Fire by Ed Sheeran. If you haven't seen The Nightmare Before Christmas movie, you are missing an enormous amount of context for the video. The movie is pretty much considered an animated classic these days, directed by Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride, Batman and Batman Returns (the older ones with Michael Keaton as Batman)), with music by Danny Elfman (of Oingo Boingo fame). The movie is well worth watching, although like many Tim Burton movies, it's definitely a little on the odd side for some audiences. While this is an excellent introduction to VoicePlay's style of theatrical music videos, this particular song tends to emphasize bass Geoff Castellucci's singing, as he plays the title character (Oogie Boogie). Many of their others tend to spread the singing out to everyone in the group. Geoff also has a solo channel that he started during the lockdown, when VoicePlay couldn't tour. I would definitely recommend taking the video back about 5 seconds after you've paused to comment, so you make sure you don't miss anything. @Why Am I Reacting they cover a wide spectrum of music from Disney to rock.The lineup has changed a bit over the years, but they are still as good if not better now. Current members are Layne Stein(beatboxer), Eli Jacobson( the bald tenor) Cesar De la Rosa, (baritone, not in this video) and Geoff Castellucci, the bass. The big guy with the high voice is Earl Elkins, who left the group in 2020 and the last one is J None. He left a few years ago for a stint singing for the Navy, but comes back for guest appearances when he can. Geoff also has a solo channel, and is awesome.

A couple other wonderful movie based songs they's done are The Phantom of the Opera and Friends on the Other Side from The Princess and the Frog. I think of them almost as short plays disguised as music videos. Oh, and BTW, "Santa's" sister is Kathy Castellucci, Geoff's wife and his daughter is the first child seen in their video Just Sing.

VoicePlay has well over 800 videos, many of them with costuming, staging, etc. They are an independent group, no companies own them, so they are free to use their creativity as they will. All the group have extended ranges, right now they are one member short since J None (who you will see in this) is in the US Navy for 5 yrs - 3 left to go. VoicePlay lost Earl about 3 yrs ago for personal reasons, who had been a member since Geoff (bass), Layne (baritone and beatboxer), Earl and 2 others started the group in high school. Eventually they renamed the group VoicePlay, Eli (bald guy name rhymes with jelly) came on about 13 years ago and is a powerful tenor 1, handles most of the lighting and computer backgrounds, green screens, etc. Cesar is the newest member, filling the void left by Earl and J None a few months later to the Navy. J None said he'd be back and has returned while on leave. Geoff and Layne alternate the production of that month's video, doing the arrangement, premix audio, camera work, costuming, makeup, etc. These guys do it all. Geoff got restless when covid stopped the touring so he does solos to stay busy (Geoff Castellucci). Do check those out. Anyway, I'll start with a couple of slower ones, I Can't Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt), Tennessee Whiskey (Chris Stapleton), Carry On My Wayward Son (Kansas), Warriors (Imagine Dragons), Dream On (Aerosmith), Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Queen in 5 Minutes, Boy Bands in 5 Minutes, Little Mermaid, Wicked, We Don't Talk About Bruno, Attention, We're Good. for starters.

It’s also rather creepy - Hillbillies vs Zombies. While fun I suggest trying one of the songs you might recognize first for a better idea of their style. For instance they just released a cover of “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins or maybe “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica or even one of their other Disney covers like Moana or Little Mermaid.

Great song to start the Voiceplay rabbit hole. They did a number of songs from Tim Burtons nightmare before Christmas movie, like this one. They also do Viking songs, and a KILLER cover of Metallica. Geoff Castellucci, the Bass, also has a channel of his own, doing sixteen tons, and Ghostriders in the Sky. Between the three acapella groups, you will find it difficult to do anything else. You should next listen to The Hall of the Mountain King, an Instrumental with MAJOR attitude, you will notice by the makeup in its thumbnails.

It's a song many people do rrecommmend but not typical of what they do. Many of their videos are in a theatrical style but they do many more in a more traditional style. If you don't know, the film The NIghtmare Before Christmas you won't understand this one. It does, however, show Geoff's rage, or some of it, which is huge. VoicePlay does do covers, but they always make it their own. Their arrangements are brillian, as are their voices. I would suggest you find a song title you recognise next time to understand better what they do with a song.

Geoff has own KZbin that does too and I love all their songs the Disney ones are good Like friends from the other side, We go the distance from Hercules, But als like their ACA Top 10 too like Hero's, Villain's and Sidekick's. @@WhyAmIReacting I recommend that movie. It's a stop motion animated movie musical that came out 30 years ago, and is something of a cult classic for Gen-Z kids. There is some debate about whether it's a Christmas Movie, or a Halloween Movie. ;-) It does have a happy ending.
