Elizabeth, you preached about this group in your intro, described their style, told us how impressive they are, and then pointed out everyone's names. In other words, you have all of the symptoms of a die-hard VoicePlay fan. Welcome to the Club.

I highly recommend Geoff Castellucci's cover of Blackbird. It does such a good job of sowing off his range, as well as his own touch to the song!

Love your VoicePlay reactions, they are so amazing! Btw Eli often plans and programs their light set up for video shoots, everyone of them is so talented, I love that they do everything from arranging to video production themselves! Are there any plans to interview any of the other members of VP in the future? Cause I really loved your interview with Layne, so informative and fun!

The one thing that brings me back to your videos, every single time, is that, hands down you have the best smile I have ever seen in my life. Every time I see your smile I cant help but smile myself!

I was thinking just yesterday, when is this channel going to do another Voiceplay video? I was so excited to see one pop up! For the most part, I only watch music reviews for VP and very little other performers. So I'm always excited to see a new one! Plus I love how detailed your analysis gets in each one. The guys mentioned you in a video on their patreon talking about Layne's interview. He mentioned you wanting the other guys on. I bet Eli would be up for it! Geoff started joking about how busy he was, haha. But I would absolutely love if you could get him on! Fingers crossed.

Dead Can Dance is a wonderful goth/world music band with two singers with absolutely lovely voices! They use instrumentation from all over, but alot of medieval sounds, and have a certain bardic and theatrical quality that is absolutely lovely to listen to and especially for setting a mood and atmosphere for Dungeons and Dragons (since you've mentioned playing a few times). "The Host of Seraphim " "Children of the Sun' and "As the bell rings the Maypole spins" are some particular gems worth checking out that showcase both singers!!! Love your videos!!!

I'm not a big online commenter, but I want to say how much I appreciate your channel. Seeing these singers through the eyes of a passionate expert like you is wonderful on many levels. You share joy on this channel. Thank you. (Also, I would love to hear your thoughts on Neko Case, especially her song "Dirty Knife.")

Having been a huge Oingo Boingo fan (Danny Elfman) since I started going to their live shows way back in the 80's, I'm always thrilled to see how Danny still has an impact on people to this day. Danny has always had a unique voice and I believe one of the best songs that showcases his skills as a singer is the Oingo Boingo song "Goodbye Goodbye" from the Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack. Its definitely worth a listen, even if you don't do an analysis. Love the channel, keep it up!!!!!! Thank you!!

The person that is doing the bass lines, man he's really good at it! If I wasn't watching that sounds so much like a bass guitar. Although she said he did a A1 flat note, that's lower than the bass guitar lower range, really cool!
@olivermackay66724 жыл бұрын
he's called Geoff Castellucci, if you liked this then he's got his own youtube channel where he posts his own covers imo he's the best bass in the world
@makchris77464 жыл бұрын
I think bass guitar’s lowest is an E1 while this song only went down to Ab1. Though the bass guy Geoff had hit a D1 in the little mermaid medley which is actually lower than the bass guitar :)

Thanks again for being so awesome haha

I have a somewhat off the radar suggestion, I've never seen a voice coach watch the performance of "Heyr Himna Smiður" that Icelandic band Árstíðir performed in a train station in Germany of all places. It's absolutely stunningly beautiful to my untrained ears, and being as it's a hymn, I guess it's sort of vaguely Christmasy (okay bit of a stretch) but even if you only watch it in your private life and not for the channel, I'd highly recommend it, both to you and to anyone taking the time to read this.
@LaubeQ4 жыл бұрын
This was incredibly fun to watch! I like that you let me discover new fun music, like Valhallellujah. Now that you're a total metalhead *nudge nudge*, I haven't seen you react to The Pretty Reckless nor Halestorm. Many songs I could recommend, but there's one called "Break in" and is sung by Lizzy Hale featuring your one and only love, Amy Lee. And it's a really nice arrangement.

So I stumbled upon this channel with the Johnny Cash - Hurt reaction, and then saw a link for Disturbed - Sound of Silence, and i figured, "Well, she's a pretty, pleasant, and knowledgeable presence, let's see what else she's got." And I listened to a few more reactions, all great. But then I pulled up your full video list and was disturbed by something. There's no Pink Floyd on here. Certainly this is something that needs to be rectified immediately. I think the best two to start with to catch your interest would be Comfortably Numb (I prefer the Pulse concert version, but that is because it has the best guitar solo in history, so if you just want to focus on the singing you may prefer the studio version) and The Great Gig in the Sky (definitely the studio version). If you watch them, we will come.
@TheCharismaticVoice4 жыл бұрын
Definitely considering this one! You're correct, I should do one soon. Thanks Mike Duncan!
@christoffermalm49184 жыл бұрын
Love watching your reactions as always! I have request to make, it may not be Christmas-y but it is definitely acapella: The Longest Johns, "Sugar in the hold" or "Spanish ladies" They are a acapella group based in Bristol that does shanty's and folk songs and they are SO good. They are definitely worth a listen to if you enjoy any acapella. And that's coming from a true Home Fry (fan of Home Free just to clarify) 😁

Well, it is from the best Christmas movie... And very creative way with their make-up and their singing. Merry Christmas.

I really am enjoying this very fun piece. Elizabeth could you comment of the following? I think you will understand what I am asking even though I can’t quite articulate the question When there is a lot of electronic production versus the extreme of the unamplified voice... not sure what the question is... It can’t be which is better, but in away it is. I love the human voice and I have heard small a Capella groups without any amplification in a small auditorium. Heavenly and intimate. Then I went to Celtic women in a Boston theatre. I might as well have just listened to their videos. Because they sounded exactly the same. I’ve been to Dimash’s concerts with bands in large venues, lots of amplification, but I leave longing to hear just his voice without anything in the way probably including amplification. Some of Dimash’s clearly produced videos during the pandemic have seemed like a naked voice, a naked soul. PTX ‘s earliest music versus their current beautiful highly stylized videos seems different because of the intensity of production. I like the earliest best. Listen to their silent night live. I don’t know where Voces8 and voctave fall. ( love both). I heard Voctave’s Mary Did You Know - the soloist although produced seemed naked and authentic. Listen to Avi’s NewMoon live w just a guitar that he strums. A pretty naked voice, I’d say.

Really not a fan of the film itself but cannot, and won't, deny that's a catchy song and this is a great version of it

If I remember correctly, they said this was done all in one take, yes with people manually running the lights. This was one of J. None's early appearances before he was actually added to the group. They picked up an amazing vocalist in J. Gotta say Layne was the high point for me in this.

Gotta add to the recommendation I saw in other comments for Geoff's version of The Headless Horseman! The people in charge of lighting, according to the credits on the video, are Kathy Castallucci (I assume Geoff's wife) and Eli. As Eli was busy actually singing, I would assume Kathy was in charge of the blacklight.

I would love to see a reaction to "Dangerous" by The Arrogant Worms. The Semi-Conducted version. Trevor Strong is a highly underrated singer. He almost passes out on stage from holding that last note as long as he does. While the video has been taken down, you can still find the original song. I honestly think you'd be the first reactor ever to do this song as the group isn't very well known outside Canada.
