Hey braddah, I want to extend a thank you for supporting one of our own the way that you do. It is difficult for a musician to "get off the rock" in Hawai'i. There are so many other musicians in Hawai'i that would turn your head but the music industry pretty much locks Hawaiian musicians into staying in Hawai'i. Part of the problem is that Hawaiians take issue with how Hawai'i became a state. I personally know musicians who aren't willing to get off the rock because they don't want to be part of the machine that stole Hawai'i from her people. But that's a discussion for another day. Anyway, again, thank you for supporting one of Hawai'i 's own...Iam Tongi. And your willingness to let your emotions fly on camera is moving. You're doing an awesome job, keep up the good work. The Hawaiian culture embraces singing and the songs that show the aloha of the Islands. Ever since I graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1969 I am stuck on Island music. @@errolsteadfast Just fyi: Jake was one of the original viral video sensations on KZbin, thanks to a version of “My Guitar Gently Weeps” that was posted back around 2000 or so. You need to start there. Since then he’s become considered as the Jimi Hendrix of the ukulele and he’s only getting better. His technique is unmatched, but it’s his sensitivity and creativity on the instrument that really sets him apart. He’s produced a number of great albums, and he’s so well respected across all genres of music that he’s gotten to collaborate with artists from YoYo Ma and Bette Midler to Willie Nelson. And he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.
