My interpretation: The song takes place inside the mind of a mortally wounded warrior. We hear an angelic voice beckoning the warrior to let go of life. At one point, we hear the warrior's deep-voiced declaration of defiance: "But I, refuse to die...". These words are echoed by the angelic voice - perhaps mocking or sympathetic. The drum sounds are like a heartbeat; but, near the end become arrhythmic (heart failure). In the end, death takes us. We must give our material selves back to the earth.

Aurora does know what to say at the right time. I love how this connects to warrior being battle scarred from our personal day to day struggles. We might not know what's under people's skin but compassion comes a long way.

This song does feel like a "new era" - which is also something of a blend of her positive uplift songs of the last tour and the deeper darker songs of her youth. i never quite like the disco stuff, but i await her evolution of the song in acoustic and live performances.. it is a keeper for sure. Wishing you best of luck in securing the life you are seeking to live... our job is to strive to live that life, to do our best to ignore those who say we can't and to treat both setbacks and success with modest indifference, since they are essentially arbitrary anyway.

first of all, welcome back :), second You live now in a country of my dreams Norway :). i woke up this morning early as usual because of my work, the first thing I did was not coffee but listening to this song and... this was the only song i listening to the whole day long , i love this song so much except maybe the short drum part maybe . I reminds me a bit to the cardigans and to be loved :). and I gonna buy tickets for Oslo, Trondheim, Stavanger and Bergen :)

I *_really_* wanted to like the new song.... I'll leave it at that heh... 😬 Although...I'm not remotely worried. When _Cure for Me_ first dropped I was super underwhelmed. Then, over time, it totally grew on me. Then when _Giving in to the Love_ dropped as the 2nd single I was ELATED. It was perfect, 10/10, listened to it like 30 times that first day alone. Later, _Wake Up_ and _The Woman I Am_ which were both recorded for TGWCT sessions, yet neither made the final album cut....once those finally came out, they both secured solid spots in my top 10 favorite Aurora songs of all time. All that to say....I'm not concerned if I don't really connect with a first single. Those are always the radio bangers anyway, which is fine and I get. Excited to see what else is ahead!!
