Biggest red flag with Mayo was he never got the defense playing good, while being a defensive minded head coach.
@conor2439
@conor2439 Күн бұрын
This guy wasn't an anything minded head coach. He has no specialty at all with Xs and Os. Unless he was surrounded with great coordinators, he wasn't bringing this team anywhere.

The roster is terrible, but Mayo showed zero signs of doing anything positive. Fred Toucher is a clown.

That's what I'm saying. It goes beyond the fact that no coach would have success with that roster. Mayo's communication and decision making is bad and he also lost the locker room. That wasn't going to change next year.

Players weren't getting better and you're not bringing any talent to New England with Mayo. He's not ready. Poor hire by the Krafts.

@@dokedoker3340give him a top 10 defense and make it 25. Put his foot in his mouth daily. Players like Keion White (top 3 defensive player) want out. The way they lost games were bad. Emotions cloud judgement. Cut your losses.

Mayo wasn’t as smart as you guys made him out to be. Mayo did the work to get the job never did the work to do the job.

The guy wasn’t able to build a team? The front office supplied the bottom of the barrel players. Mayo never picked the roster. Normal teams that want to win hire a GM coach combo. You’ll never be a winning team if the HC and GM aren’t on the same page. Yall are a bunch of couch coach wanna bes. Keep pretending any of you would make it as a NFL coach🤣🤣

@ the guy was fired because he had no management skills not because of what he had to manage. everyone inside and out knew what he had to work with do you understand now Dough boy.

@ again you cannot make a shit roster good🤣 I’ll only agree with that in respects to the defense. Almost identical to last year but a lot worse gameplay wise. How do you manage a team that’s 1) bottom of the league in terms of talent 2) no one wanted to actually catch the ball consistently. You’ll never had 2 rookie receivers 1 of them wasted plays on the field for most of the season and one couldn’t figure out how to run routes. They had a lineman QUIT THE GAME OF FOOTBALL mid season. He was managing a team with minimal power. Do you understand that most calls did not fall on him like they did on BB? Don’t be so dense. No rookie coach managed a team well

@ who are you to say any of that you in the know about what was going on internally ? no you don’t , what your getting is Hersey what I’m saying is what I can see on the field and in his press conferences and how prepared the team looked their lack of discipline that’s where I’m coming from not second hand grapevine parroting. We all heard how smart Mayo was all these media guys were saying he can be a CEO of a company Blah blah blah but they didn’t know, they were parroting what everyone else was. Now I don’t know if Jerod is an intelligent guy but I do know he isn’t smart. And I know what I can see and hear with my own eyes and ears.

@@coreypillsbury9313you’re missing the point of his argument. Only a moron goes out and drags his subordinate coaches in the press conference every other week. Only a moron trashes his own team. I’ve been apart of college teams where the head coach trashes one side of the ball in favor of the other. That type of team never wins. Mayo should go coach high school ball and learn how to actually lead men. He may understand Xs and Os but he doesn’t understand basic leadership. I’d fire him too.

I was listening to Middlekauff say it was a trainwreck behind the scenes. Mayo was in way over his head. Coaching staff was at odds with each other…it sounds like they made the right call. Like Panthers didn’t have a good record this yr either, but you saw signs that team was responding to rookie HC. Pats seemed to get worse as the season went along. Throw Bills game to the side too…they were mentally checked out waiting for playoffs. This last win means nothing.

Patriots/Krafts decision-making over the last 5 plus years has been a disaster after disaster. It all started with letting the GOAT go to TB a win a SB.

People are going to figure out Kraft without Bill Belichick is like Jerry Jones without Jimmy Johnson. Listening to stories from Bill Parcells and Pete Carroll about how cheap the Krafts are, what Bill and Brady did over 2 decades is nothing short of a miracle.

vrabel outcoached belichik in the playoffs, just give him a good team and there's no way you can have doubts about his coaching ability. along with his connections here it just seems like a no-brainer

Again this show is clueless. The patriots went backwards as a team during the season. Period. No one was judging by wins, it was being judged by progress and so many weeks the patriots were not even prepared to play

So Mayo knew for at LEAST 2 years he was next and was NOT READY. That is on him. He lost the job not because of the record. He lost the job because it was a dumpster fire in the locker room with players,at the podium and dumb calls on the field. You do not put your franchise behind BACKUP lineman who are worse than the starters (who are the leagues worst) in a blowout loss late in a game. You don’t put a potentially concussed franchise back on the field in a blowout loss late. You don’t say one thing at the podium or on radio and then DO THE OPPOSITE. HE was a D coach YET he couldn’t HELP that side EVER. Sorry i think Bill never named a D coordinator because Jared couldn’t handle the job. SORY. Cut the cord and START OVER front office and coaches. NOTHING to do with anything other than they knew he is NOT THE GUY. Half empty stadium booing and pulling for loses..CLOWN SHOW. Finally the Krafts did something right. GET REAL COACHES/FRONT OFFICE and PAY in Free Agents. STOP BEING CHEAP.

1 year is plenty of time to see if someone is cut out for a job or not. The record shouldn't be held against Mayo, Kraft obviously saw his leadership qualities, organizational skills, intelligence with Xs and Os, and lack of fire and enthusiasm and made his decision. We all saw Mayo was not going to be Dan Campbell or Mike Tomlin or Shanahan or McVay. To win Superbowls you need a top tier QB and a top tier head coach. Mayo must have been so bad that Kraft only needed about 355 days to figure out he wasn't going to be that guy.

Its not about the record. If we went 1-16 but we showed a good culture and comradery he would still be our coach. Constantly diverting blame, passive aggressive remarks, and throwing others under the bus is what got Mayo fired.

The tree things Vrabel wants in his new franchise is: 1. A quarterback 2. Stable ownership 3. Good communication with Football ops. Sorry Jets but you fail all three in spades. Mike Vrabel will be the next HC of the NEP lol

They put it in his contract in 2021 that he would be the next HC. He had never been a HC. Hell, he wasn't even a DC anywhere. They hired him because they liked the person reguardless of his experience.

Bill went 5-11 in his first year, inheriting a mixed bag roster built by Bobby Grier and Pete Carroll. Difference is Bill knew what he was doing and Mayo had absolutely no clue. His staff was just as bad as the roster. Better to pull the plug now as opposed to 3 years of a circus.

But the problem was Mayo didn’t have a vision for the team and his players said and did what they wanted. That was a major issue. Can I get a radio job to just all agree all the time we need at least one guy on here to never agree with some of the dribble.

He didn’t do himself any favors. Team got worse even with improved QB play and the defense regressed significantly. Not even mentioning his awful press conferences where he’s always throwing people under the bus or saying something questionable he just wasn’t ready for the role Wolf needs to go too or it won’t even matter anyway. Kraft needs to clear everything out and start from scratch

7:21-7:51: the thing is they didn’t “keep the same structure”. In fact, they made it a media focal point to now be the anti-Belichick Patriots and it showed…horribly. I fully understand that’s a directive that came from Kraft, however, if Mayo just came out and coached, instead of disparaging the culture (and one of two reasons why NE has their rings) by focusing on “fun and happiness and games and hoopla”, which translated to an on the field product that even Brockton High School stood a fairly decent chance of beating, then maybe the fans would defend Mayo. We’re seeing it with Alabama as well, coaches trying to be the “anti-Saban” instead of just being a damn coach. So no, tears will not be shed for Jerod Mayo.
