Some GDR citizens tried to break out of the Iron Curtain, risking their lives. Nina Hagen had to leave the GDR. Even the communists didn't want anything to do with her. She started out as a completely harmless pop singer with “You forgot the color film”. As a professional opera singer, she obviously has something to offer in terms of her voice. She is already a legend.

But besides all of this.. shes the one every singer in the world has to fight for my recognition :D ( yeah i know no one cares haha ) and... only a few make it. She is absolut fantastic

Nina is the Godmother of Punk and also from East-Germany like Rammstein. She's an educated opera singer therefor her incredible wide range of her voice. She's really mad but in a good way. Nina Hagen trained as an opera singer. she has a wide vocal range. Apocalyptika also produced a piece with Till Lindemann called “Helden”. The original is by David Bowie from the 70s, it's called "Heroes". It's about the inner German border, from the perspective of the East.

She is very conroversal. She is a very good singer (former opera singer) and has some very Popular songs. A lot of her other songs are also strange. Bute even cancelor Angela Merkel get a goodbye song played when she ended her job "Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen". And another very good song together with Udo Lindberg (German Singer/Songwriter) is "Die Klavierlehrerin" (Udo Lindenberg feat. Nina Hagen).

Nina never fitted and she never will. Nor in East Germany neither in the West. She as a person is a piece of art. She did great music also as Unbelieveable trash. A genius and a totally mad monster ! It's absolutely worth to have a closer look on her. Not only musically. Her version of "Seemann“ is on the same level as Rammstein's.
