Welcome to the best, deepest rabbit hole you will find. Home Free is the only country all-vocal band out there. Front row, left to right: Rob Lundquist - lead tenor, Austin Brown - high tenor, Tim Foust - bass. Back row, l-r: Adam Chance - baritone/bass (was doing the mouth harp sound in this song also), and Adam Rupp - beatboxer and freak of nature. Their harmonies are just superb, and yes, all sounds made by the human voice/mouth. I would recommend checking out the Johnny Cash covers of "Ring of Fire," and "Folsom Prison Blues." For perfect 5-part harmonies, "How Great Thou Art," and "Helplessly Hoping." And although they do mostly country, they don't stick to just one style. You'd enjoy their cover of Boys II Men "End of the Road." And to see their fun side, you gotta see "Butts Remix," and "Hillbilly Bone." Thanks for the reaction! Enjoy the Home Free ride, man!

Most of the time, though, he's just a great of nature sounding like a drum set and I whole bunch of other sounds. You will notice just how unique these guys are as you go dive in to it, but in truth I don't think anyone is able to fully comprehend it. Great reaction!

They can all make sounds....Tim Foust (the bass) perfectly mimics bass guitars (Kind of a given there) Austin Brown (High Tenor in the hat and vest) can mimic harmonica as well, which he does in live shows. Adam Chance (baritone/bass) makes that mouth harp sound (he does loop it for live performances because it hurts his throat after a while) Rob Lundquist (lead tenor - glasses and overalls) does the record scratch you heard. All other sounds you heard from the cicadas to the woodpeckers as well as the beat boxing was done by Adam Rupp. (Edited to remove incorrect information) I believe out of all their songs, only one (and that one very recent) has an instrument in it and that one only has one. To start, video wise after this, I would watch "Ring of Fire". They are joined by Avi Kaplan, former bass singer for the Pentatonix and one of their earlier ones. (You may notice a different person in that one and that would be Chris Rupp, Adam's brother, who left the group to pursue a solo career a few years back.) They have a great sense of humor which comes out in some of their videos so make sure once you are ready, to check out the "Butts Medley/Remix", "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget" (written by Tim) and "All About that Bass" just to name a few. I have yet to find a bad one! Once you are familiar with their names and typical voices, check out "Mayday" and "American Pie with Don McClean" Oh and somewhere in there watch the Adam Rupp Drum Solo....then you can really see what he can do sound wise. Have fun and believe me when I say you are not alone in this rabbit hole.

I suggest watching the first one from 2015 where Adam is wearing the red plaid shirt, then the ones from 2021 and 2022 to see how much he's changed and improved upon perfection. They may be the same basic routine but the different venues, lighting, camera angles, crowd responses make each one unique.

The man to the far left with the overalls is doing the dat-dat-doo and this has to be at least two takes because you can hear the dat-dat-doo even when he is singing...unless the other lead singer takes over the dat-dat-doo while Mr. Overalls sings. And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so fucking doomed. We'll save you a chair. You're about to be drowned in Home Fries. Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks. Amazing. All the men can beat box, but Adam is in a league of his own. He's a two-time world champion and there're good reasons he's called a "Freak of Nature" and the man who swallowed a drum kit. For more of Adam's incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete's sake), his no-harmonica harmonica solo on Working For A Living, and his drum solos. For more of Tim's seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). For Chance's smooth baritone, check out Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome. A basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. For Rob's smooth soul, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain't Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) For Austin's soaring tenor, check out Moonshine or When A Man Loves a Woman. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he'll sing you right out of it.) For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget. For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam's arrangement. Nothing else like it.) For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne. For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female. For more of their wonderful collaborations, check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, or Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For with Peter Hollens. Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday. Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don't just own a cover, they upgrade it.” You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.

LoRyder did a fantastic job of explaining the band members and suggesting some great songs in a previous comment, so I won't regurgitate all that. But I will add two more of my favorites to the mix: "All About That Bass" (more of their delightfully goofy side), and probably my favorite Home Free song, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" (Listen for more of Tim's low bass notes that come from the mines of Moria.) Also, both of those videos will include a guy who wasn't in this video; that's Chris Rupp, brother of Adam "Human Percussion Machine" Rupp. He left the group a few years ago to pursue a solo career and was replaced by (Adam) Chance, the one in the back on the left in this video. Chance (also in the back in this video) was doing the mouth harp sound at the beginning and end of the video. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own songs too. Known for their incredible harmonies. Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range so he can sing super low but also sing high. Try One Man Band, In the Blood, Land of the Free. No, that's not no normal beat boxing. Adam Rupp is not human. He's an alien. He doesn't talk, he communicates in sound effects, mimicking just about anything. The other guys can understand him. Since they could sing they decided to use him for their percussion effects. You know, it's not just the drums and sound effects that's important here, the harmony blend of the voices is marvelous as well. These acapella groups pride themselves on being pure acapella. If they use an instrument they put it in view so you know it. They use a little microphone manipulation to get the reverb and echo, and on some they multi-track (sing it once, then sing it again in another octave and lay one track over the other) but 99% of it is just what their voices sound like singing in the bathtub. Even the crickets.

Chance (Adam Chance), the guy in the dark vest, is doing the jaw harp twanging sound. They had to layer that because he is singing baritone most of the time and covered bass when Tim Foust, bass, took lead. Adam Rupp, besides doing the drumming sounds and harmonica sounds, also did the record crackle noise at the very beginning. He sings tenor when they don't need percussion and such. No instruments. Austin Brown took the first lead and did the most leads on this song. Rob Lundquist, the other tenor, took the second lead and did the little rap fragment. He has a different color to his voice than Austin, which really works out well on certain songs/parts. The fun thing is that they do lots of different kinds of songs. A little over half of it is country or country-ish, but for example, they recently sang with Don Mclean for his 50 year remake of American Pie (at 75 !??!). They did a no percussion version of Crosby, Stills and Nash's "Helplessly Hoping". Even this song is a little unusual - it is so old that its actually pre-bluegrass.

All a capella and all voices. They do use a looper during concerts for percussions and one video has Chance playing a guitar. Tim Foust (Bass) has a 5+ octave range, Austin Brown (lead in this song) is high tenor, Rob Lundquist (full beard) is a tenor, Adam Rupp is vocal percussionist (and can sing tenor) and group co-founder and Adam Chance (called Chance) is a bariton/bass and making the jaw harp sound you hear. They sing country, r&b and much more...they are all humble good guys who are insanely talented, and you can't go wrong with ANY of their songs...covers or originals and they sound just as good live, as they do here. So much more....there is a drum solo with Adam Rupp on the internet....where he is in red flannel....6 years old now, but it will blow your mind. Austin has his own channel with amazing covers as well. All can basic beatbox, all can sing their asses off, Rob has some soulful licks (check out End of the Road and Blue Ain't Your Color) and the blend is just awesome. You can get a taste of 5 part harmony with How Great Though Art and Helplessly Hoping. You can get their funny side with All about that bass, Butts Medley, Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, and their serious side with One Voice and Travelin' Soldier. They have a lot of patriotic songs including God Bless the USA ft. Lee Greenwood and they do a lot of other colabs with original artists such as Elvira with the Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I send Thee with Kenny Rodgers, American Pie with Don McLean and One Voice with Billy Gilman. They also tackle serious issues with songs like Everybody Walking this Land, One Voice etc...and they play pranks like on April Fools Day. Welcome to the rabbit hole....sit back and stay awhile! BTW, love the arcade cabinet in the background...I am a sort of Retro Gamer as well with an Atari Fight Stick, Rasberry PI 4....love it.

HA!! I *KNEW* you’d like Home Free! Don’t know whether it was from my recommendation or not (I’m SURE I wasn’t the only one) but welcome to the Home Fry club! Thanks for checking them out. Great reaction! New sub, came for the Home Free! And yes they are totally acapella( NO instruments) !!! They make all sounds! Their beatboxer/ vocal percussionist is a national champion. He is incredible! He make all the background percussion sounds with the other guy in the back making a couple. But mostly the beat boxer! They are all fantastic singers! And a fun, down to earth, talented guys! Pick any song and you will not be disappointed! They are classified as country but do other genres. Please do more Home Free and us Home Fries ( Home Free fans) will be here! Thank you for your reaction! Stay safe and healthy and have a blessed day!

Home Free is an amazing group. True A Capella. They are unbelievably versatile. Their cover of Crazy by Patsy Cline is great, cover of Cam's May Day great, cover of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues or Ring of Fire, Don McLean's American Pie, Huey Lewis' Working for A Living, and for a laugh their very own Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget. I could go on for ever on their music. Loved your reaction, look forward to your next.

Yes, all the sounds of both the lyrics and the instruments of the song were made by those five gentlemen. Those men are: Austin Brown (first singer) Rob Lundquist (second singer/overalls) Tim Foust (bass singer) (Adam) Chance (backgroud hat/vest, Jew’s harp) Adam Rupp (drums/harmonica man) Home Free is a vocal band, a la Pentatonix, who I know you hadn’t seen at the time of recording this, but you have now. Glad you joined the Home Fries. If you’re looking for suggestions, Amazing Grace (Peter Hollens feat. Home Free) is so beautiful, as is How Great Thou Art. (I know you said there was a list buyou also said you’d be listening to more Home Free.)
