I'd argue when he says "the hardest part of this is leaving you," he doesn't simply mean death. This whole album, the Patient (and the reaper who both mocks his grief and tries to encourage him to fight for life) are pushing their loved ones away, not wanting them to see him weak and wasted and embarrassed, not wanting them to suffer his final moments with him, so his death can be at a distance to them. The hardest part is making the actual final moments of communication happen, and he thinks it will be worse if he doesn't get them to move on before he's even dead. Which is ALSO that hard. The first verse is more practical, more bargaining. "I'll let you help me, but you have to accept this is happening." The second verse is the more raw frustration of facing death. "Stop looking at me, I'm disgusting and you should want to get away."

Haven’t touched this album since my mom died. Tears won’t stop lol. Funny how I conceptualized death at such a young age, only to be helped by the emotional intelligence later on. The whole album is really moving, and deserves a consecutive listen. Thanks for this.

My mother worked as a nurse, so accompanying her to work when 7 was natural, and there I saw the first dead person. I agree fully that it is important to experience death, so many ppl go through life for years and bam tragedy strikes and they have no idea how to process. When my mother died when I was 21 I had a hard time naturally, but when my dad died several years later I knew how to deal. Grief is part of us, missing ppl will always hurt. But...that's just life. At age 13 my friend died from an inoperable brain tumor. I was exposed to death at that young age but I never went through the grief process, I just held it all in because I didn't know how to handle it. Over time it was repressed into my subconscious mind and it wasn't until I was about 26 that it started to resurface. I was looking at pictures of my friend and had an all out mental breakdown of the most agonizing magnitude I cant put into words. I saw a therapist and they helped me find healthy ways to cope and deal with the loss, even after all those years. Seek help if you need it, we all do from time to time. Thank you sir for your work in this profession.

Cancer is such a sad song. I can't even listen to the song anymore because my best friend died from cancer this last february from melanoma. He died so quickly and when I saw him last we held each other. He cried so hard I've never heard someone cry so hard in my entire life. He then called me his guardian angel and when he went to the hospital, by the time I got off work to go see him, he was dead. So this song makes me cry every time I hear it.

I have a huge extended family and used to go to funerals every year (sometimes even twice or three times in one year) when I was younger. Idk just a lot of aging family members from both sides I guess. But I think it really helped me for when my grandfather passed away. Even years after, I’ve learned various ways for coping with loss thanks to just watching others go through it all. On a side note, totally stoked you got around to reacting to Cancer! 10 years ago I was diagnosed with ewing sarcoma, rare in itself mine was a random gene mutation that presented in an extremely rare location. Its supposed to be a long bone cancer but mine presented in my face. Its a very aggressive bone cancer that metastasizes into lung cancer, after taking a sample before we knew what it was it metastasized and took over more than half my face. I was a huge fan of this album. My survival is an absolute miracle, I lived in a hospital for 3 years and was told "in the next 24 hours you may die from the bacteria in your own body," many times just from the amount of times i had neutropenic fevers, which was 2 times a month for 2 years and each lasted about a week for me. 3 years of having family and friends basically saying goodbye then surviving has really been had an impact of my thinking and im still not sure what to think, its like dying but coming back to life and having to keep living.

(just an FYI i posted this in the jocelyn flores vid, but i highly doubt you will see it, so im posting it here as well, as i didnt see anyone else give you a thourough answer so sorry wrong vid but read ahead) so jocelyn flores was a young model,(side note she had thoughts about suicide and considered this kinda her last hoorah), which attracted the attention of x, who at the time was trying to make a clothing brand and needed models for said brand, so he found 2. Those 2 were jocelyn flores and another anonymous woman, who did not like each other, and during one of the shoots they got in an argument and x basically said screw it i cant have these arguments here right now, so he sent them home. The day after the shoot jocelyn didnt show up to the shoot, so x called the hotel she was staying at, and figured out she did commit suicide in her bathroom, the cleaners there found her in the bathroom on of of their shifts, and she was announced dead shortly after. This black parade album got me an A* in performing arts. I LOVE this album. We knew that to get an A we had to get the examiner’s to laugh or cry, we got both out of all three. We knew the examiner would probably be middle aged and probably had teenagers. NO parent can not be moved by childhood cancer. And we were 💯 right! 😂We acted out his life good and bad and gave the audience the chance to vote on what the ending would be… Would he go to heaven hell or purgatory… or would he survive… They voted for him to survive… Of course. Then out of curiosity they doubled our time to watch the other endings. I adore this album and was lucky enough to get to see them perform it live at the time, it was his speech about children and teenagers going through cancer that inspired us to do it. They’re so underrated. You definitely need to check out more of their music. I would LOVE to see you react to I’m not okay and teenagers. You would also probably like I don’t love you. It’s kinda like this song.

Man this song is so good. But also if you like this style, pretty much all of Twenty One Pilots is made up of some of the best lyrics in modern music. I’d highly recommend songs from their albums Vessel, Trech, and Blurryface. Their live music is also really amazing as well. One of the best bands around right now in my opinion.

The sad part for me is that this is probably one of the shortest songs My Chemical Romance but it's lead singer Gerald Way who's hugely influenced by Liza Minnelli. He even got her to come in for one of his songs mama lovely vocals from both actually. You can analyze hit his music or you can analyze his television show The Umbrella Academy which is based on his comics. But this is a lovely song the original video had a little girl actually who cuts her hair because she has an older sibling who has cancer and she wants to make them feel better. It hits you right in the chest even if the song wasn't sad.

If I could recommend a reaction to a song. We Die Too by Jake Hill. It is a song talking and raising awareness about suicide, the artist Jake Hill had friends of his who had lost their battle to depression and ended up committing suicide. Along with himself attempting suicide in other songs he has released.

MCR delves into a lot of thought and introspection. You should take a listen to Sleep.

I love your channel and your voice, I just subscribed c: everything you say is really insightful and am ecstatic to see what's next c: I personally listen to a lot of sad music, maybe it's a coping thing (albeit a potentially unhealthy amount) and would love to reccomend a few of my favorite bands and their songs. I never really see any reactions to them and they deserve more recognition. Here is 3, and dont worry about reacting if you don't find interest, I'm just glad to share them c: 1. Andrew Jackson jihad- junkie church 2. Crywank- drippy droopy pigeonhole 3. Destroy boys- Piedmont
