I think this is one of X’s best songs. The lyrics can relate to anyone who feels like they need revenge and can’t let go of their past, and that’s why I think his story was so impactful. He was able to change right before his death and I think that was the reason his death was even more tragic than others. As soon as he overcame his past, it came back to kill him.

Agreed. Gone before his prime, his full potential What's even amazing is the amount if styles and genres/moods he covered in the span of a few years. It's easy is randomise your approach but it's not easy to make every switch sound nice. He was literally one of the first "modern" artists I had a passion for and it backfired on me, on us. Died over a bag??!!!! Why? I still don't believe that motive to this day, there was more to his death LLJ ❤️.

@MandatoryFruit

@@servererror3170 You people disgust me. There are so many conflicting reports on that situation that it's literally impossible to say how much, if any of that is true. Regardless, everyone had moved on, he was on a path of recovery, making amends, helping out his community, friends, and family. He was going out of his way to make life better for those around him. He was barely even an adult when he died (20 yrs old). He had a son on the way. He took accountability for his sins, was actively making efforts to improve himself, and was looking forward to a much brighter future. You act so righteous, then go and celebrate the death of a man who was literally just driving out of a parking lot when he died. He had a checkered past but so fucking what? I hate Amber Heard for abusing Johnny Depp, but I don't want her to be killed, I want her to get help and genuinely atone for her mistreatment of Johnny. X was atoning. He was getting help. He was making the world a better place instead of dragging everyone else down with him. So shut the fuck up and let him Rest in Peace like he deserves.

Revenge is a song that X wrote shortly after one of his close friends, Jocelyn Flores k*lled herself in an apartment whilst staying with X. He has 2 songs about her, this and the other being Jocelyn Flores. In saying he's dug 2 graves he's referring to the saying by philosopher Confucius (hope I spelt that correctly) "Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig 2 graves". The second grave being a grave for the world as he planned to take revenge out on the world over the injustice of Jocelyn's death. RIP X and Jocelyn 🕊

I drive for a taxi company in my city and have free reign over the music I play. One day I was jamming this song when I pulled up and picked up a lady probably in her mid 50s. She sat quietly for 5min while I took her down the street to a gas station. On the way back to her house she asks me "Say, who is this singing?" and "I REALLY loved that first song that was playing, is this the same guy?"(the song Changes was playing at this point). I was blown away thinking she would dismiss this as "weird young people music". So I sent her the links to his band and albums. Pretty cool stuff lool 😁

The X rabbit hole is crazy, my opinion on this one is that he’s talking about getting revenge on himself, his past self, but also that in his heart and mind he wanted to get revenge on those who wronged him (Geneva) but then goes to show that revenge isn’t the answer, but we can still feel it. I was cheated on by my x and for 4 years I always dwell and deep down I want to get revenge, but will never actually act on it. It translates to your emotions so well

Probably I read it somewhere on Genius but I feel in this song X is speaking about revenging himself, digging two graves, for the past him and the new him, for the things he did in the past and for the gruesome way of revenge itself that he's doing. Considering his SAD! video where X literally fights his past self it ties into this explanation. However, it may of course be about him and Geneva, like the most of 17 album. In this case, I recommend checking Ayala Outro from there.

I've been in a relationship with the girl of my dreams for 2.5 years. Unfortunately we had a long distance relationship, it was complicated but we did our best to stay connected on daily basis. I also flew over there and visited her few times, it was really the love of my life, I never felt like this before. We had a sweet thing going on, I was slowly learning her native language, looking for jobs in her country while working in mine. There was a moment when we even looked at apartments in her city because I planned to move in there in a close future after she finishes school. We sure had some hard times as any couple but I was trying my best and was willing to change things and work on things just to make it right because I really cared about her and loved her so much and I hoped it would work out. Well unfortunately she wasn't capable of trying that much and she ended up leaving me and what's even worse, she left me so she can start dating other guy that she knew. It's been about month and a half since then and I'm still completely heart broken, never felt worse in my life, I'm dead inside and I honestly don't know what to do. I want to work on myself and try to move on, I'm going to gym, i focus on work, I spend time with friends, I'm trying various activities but in the end I still think of her 24/7. Especially at nights. We used to video chat/call until we fell asleep and now it's just quiet. 0 contact. I miss her so much and I'm broken over the fact that she's dating someone else, a guy that I met there too and was friendly with. I know that time heals but I'm afraid it's gonna take so so so long and I won't mentally get over her. I'm completely lost and I don't know what to do. Talking to friends about it wasn't bad but i don't feel like it had any impact on me or that anything changed. This is the lowest point of my life. Please help me someone

It actually hurts me to think of all the music he had in him and all the songs that should have been written and performed that has been taken away from us. I genuinely think he was going to go on to be an iconic artist, just listen to how he crafted that simple little song and made it into something so powerful. I'm not even some young fangirl, I'm a mother in my mid 30's and I feel like we've been robbed of someone very special.

After seeing the documentary on X my whole view on him has shifted to a point where I feel like I understand who he was and only a glimpse of the demons he faced. I truly appreciate and attached to his music from the beginning and it seems the vibe of his music shifted as I grew. Understanding all that happened in his short life beautiful and ugly made him feel so much more real because pain is something that makes us all feel so real (or not). I will always miss the legend but I understand how karma works and the last decisions he had to make about his life, it almost seems like he chose death.

Probably the best song of the album 17, and that's something knowing that 17 is the best album of all time (totally objectiv, don't say no). The guitar is recurrent in X's song, especially in 17 with piano as well. And yes, his girlfriend claimed he was beating her while she was pregnant and after his death admitted she lied, and it's a real real huge theme in his song's, I mean you already kinda figure he was heartbroken ^^

✨️Confucius said that before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves. Bc you are punishing yourself along with the person you are wanting to seek revenge on. But unfortunately, revenge still seems “attractive”. One should never attempt to seek revenge on anyone, no matter the situation. His situation was his ex-gf accusing him of abusing and torturing her by acts of Satanism, while being pregnant. He was arrested. Locked up. His reputation ruined. She lied. ✨️The best revenge is no revenge. It is better to hold back your anger and show you forgave yourself and can be happy. Because there’s no better way than to act calmly and wisely and live at peace. And he did just that: the helping hand challenge, gave the youth a voice and expressed our inner thoughts and emotions through his music, giving out free school supplies, and he did a lot to help the victims of the parkland shooting. ✨️Just 2 hours before he passed he is quoted saying "Worst things come worst, I die a tragic death or some sh*t and I’m not able to see out my dreams, I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message, were able to make something of themselves and were able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life,” LLJ🕊

I just figured out the true meaning behind revenge, he found a way to forgive himself in the past found out that it wasn’t his fault now he’s going to go get revenge on the things that hurt him in the past probably his exes or his depression he hesitates for a minute “ oh man in the world of things I hear if I could act on my revenge no would I” Then he realizes the things and his past hurt him too much “ you thought that I would let you go and let you walk” and I got this from another comment but “ i’ve dug two graves for us my dear” comes from a quote “before embarking on a journey for revenge dig two graves“ two graves one for his current self one for his past self, hence “ so in the grave I’ll rot”

Like I’m telling you I love them because they are so open with how they feel but to the kids who never had a good influence they are influenced by those who they think have done what they believe they couldn’t, blind lead the blind so that’s why I say thank you to you Tom for giving these kids the information they really need therapy is for you to talk about what you don’t feel safe talking about with others and sometimes our own perceptions are wrong and mislead, that those dreams you had once they become reality they show you your worst fears because now they are real I’m reading more on Freud and his dream interpretations cause this is recently what I’ve gone through god be with y’all cause if you didn’t know juice wrld and xxxtentacion learned more about the occult and the mind control you can have over those who are less conscious of the world we live in, and things like tarot while yes a useful way as it’s described to talk with yourself, nowadays all you see are people telling you versions of reality you want to believe but you know Is only fantasy unless you lie to yourself and make them your reality trust me playing with the dark arts never gives you what you want if anything it’s just weaves your own hellish story for you to run around in circles in your own psyche like nf said he is lost in his own consciousnesses that he chose and god keeps saying he’s not locked in also a little p.s.a for anyone who needs it let go you don’t have control over everything your not god reality will always snap back at you, you can’t twist the fabric of reality with your words that’s not how it works

And for any of you juice wrld stans I’m not hating on y’all but your not juice wrld or any of your favorite rappers and neither do you or should you want to be, they live lives with people who actually kill cartels and gangs hardcore drugs and no true trust in anyone they are so paranoid and once your in the game or industry you have to be all in its competitive once they do make it they have to choose between continuing the old life or living a new one but you become what you practice so it’s harder to live life without the addictions I just hope and pray they can get through it cause once they do can you imagine the music that will be made about god and how got them through what they never thought they could

@@Laudansdeum Have you ever tried countering those thoughts of "occult" theories and mind controlling with him just expressing himself? Sure, it may make certain people feel it's correct in a way due to the fact that they look at x as someone who they can relate with, but is that not the listeners fault?

5:40 it’s not made to be fun and happy. The background is happy. But the words are depressed. This gives the effect that no matter what happy or joyful situation you put a person with depression in. They will still be depressed and still be unhappy or unsettled with life. Rip XXX

I think the song has a different meaning. I think the girl hurt him. At first he’s saying that he knows he’s done bad things in the relationship that scared her, but he heard and knows that she did something way worse. Now he’s saying as soon as the opportunity comes, he’s gonna get revenge. Then he gives a list of ways on normal ways to get hurt, (steal, kill, heartbreak), and then he says that she thought he was gonna leave whatever happened in the past and let her move on. After, he’s advising people to just break up if things get rocky because if you keep trying to go for it and fix it, and your significant other messes up, someone’s gonna get hurt. In the end, he chooses to get his revenge hence the verse “so in my grave I’ll rot”. The 2 graves saying doesn’t necessarily mean he’s gonna kill himself and someone else, it means basically, if you’re gonna go out looking for revenge, then you better be ready to dig 2 graves. One grave is for the person you got your revenge on, the other grave is for you because a good amount of time when you look for revenge, you lose yourself and what you stand for. A version of you dies. Sorry for the rant lol I love this song, it’s helped me through so much and I listen to it almost every day.

Judging by a lot of comments I can tell y’all don’t understand how a toxic abusive relationship works, this is about Geneva. Let me explain. If you listen to the lyrics you can tell he’s saying that he can’t pretend he was perfect leaving her in fear. And what a world of the things I hear if I could act on my revenge, would I? Then he refers on the acts of revenge people take “some kill some steal, some would break your heart” then he says “you thought that I would let it go and let you walk ?” Meaning he’s gonna take his act on his revenge but at the same time not wanting that person to leave. He then proceed to say broken hearts break bones so break up fast, but I don’t wanna let it go so in my grave I’ll rot. Meaning that broken hearts can make you unstable and unpredictable especially in a relationship making things abusive. He says in my grave I’ll rot because the ideal of revenge is that you dig two graves because your not only hurting the person but hurting yourself and he’s saying that he’s fine with being in the grave REMEMBER he loves her he doesn’t wanna break up but instead the “revenge” continues that’s why in the end of the song he says “is my pain your freedom?” Bc her freedom from him (leaving him) would hurt him and that’s when he says enjoy. The reason why I know this and relate to this song so much is because I gone through the same thing…. I just wanted love and the person I was with mentally messed me up to the point I became abusive.. and it fucks me up so much… even tho I tried doing everything right. Like he said I CANT PRETEND I WAS PERFECT… leaving you in fear.. I wasn’t a good person.. I never learned to love myself and always remember two broken people can’t make a relationship work your only gonna love yourself through them and that never ends well..
