I am glad that you give this extremely exceptional Nordic group a chance. I tell you a little about its history. The group, which are two boys and one girl, have Norwegian, Danish and German nationality and uses instruments such as horns of different animals, drums, human bones, rattles with human ashes, bells, stones, all to go back to the first musical compositions that They were able to interpret 1,000 years ago, in the iron age in northern Europe. All the letters are taken from carved gadgets from the era of the Nordic iron, such as arrowheads, bows, swords, rune stones and recite poems and psalms of war, peace and protection. Whereupon and for this, heilung, which means healing in German, is in close collaboration with archaeologists specializing in the field. The languages used by heilung are several. Among them are Latin, Old Danish, German and English. They were so successful with their first album that they had to release a new live album, which includes 2 new songs. Also a video of that album live and in 2019 they released their second work, futha, which is a much more feminine work. His first album, Ofnir, is much more aggressive and masculine. During the concerts some representations of how these ancient rituals of the iron age could be made. Also just finished the soundtrack of the video game Hellblade 2. I hope this review helps you to understand a bit the context of this musical group. Some curiosities. When they built the drums for the group, one of which is made from horse skin, a doctor drew blood from the three members of the group and painted the drums and some of their clothes with it. The male singer with the deep voice is a great tattoo artist and very professional. The bones the girl plays with are human bones and sometimes they have had problems in the countries of the tour to introduce them through the border from the country where the concert was held The song's title can be found in the Mesogothic Anglo-Saxon glossary as "In-Maidjan", which means "deceptively change" or "corrupt". This makes sense since the entire story within the album consists of a peaceful village that is corrupted by having to go to war. Therefore, Proto-Germanic seems to be the language. Harigasti Teiwa Harigasti Teiwa "is a clear Germanic reference to the Negau helmet. This helmet contains several Etruscan alphabet inscriptions that include the words" Harigasti teiwa which are the first words of the song. This could be translated as Harigast (the priest) although it could also mean, the priest of Teiwaz (Tyr). "Harigast" is often (not always) seen as a personal name and that it could be made up of the words "harjaz" (army, troop, warband, war) and gastiz (stranger, guest). The forms "Hari" and "gast" is particularly found in west-germanic. As such the name could mean "war guest" or "foreign army". Tawol Athodu - I accept the invitation. Ek Erilaz - I am a runemaster. The word has been interpreted to mean magician or runemaster. The word is an ablaut variant of count and it is believed that it could be linguistically related to the name of the tribe of the Heruli or Herulos. The Heruli were a Germanic tribe from Scandinavia that was invaded by the Roman Empire in the 3rd century. So it is probably simply an old military title of Germanic provenance. Owlthuthewaz - owlthu (glorious) thewaz (servant). Means servant of the glorious Niwaremariz - Priest of the god "Ullr" / famous, renowned. From the proto-Germanic term Wulþuz (glory) wolþu- is possibly a reference to a God, surely the God Ullr. Saawilagar Hateka - My name is Sawilagaz. Harja - Army - leader of the army; commander; Warrior Wuotani Ruoperath Wuotani - Oh, Wodan! Ruoperath - famous and brilliant. This could be interpreted as the following: I, Priest Harigast. Aaccept the invitation (to battle) I am the Heruli. I am a renowned priest of Ullr. They call me Warrior. Oh, Wodan the famous and brilliant! The next chant are the names of the 24 Norse runes of the Elder Futhark. This is also known as runic song. Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raidho, Kenaz, Gebo, Wunjo, Hagal, Naudhiz, Isa, Jera, Eihwaz, Perthro, Algiz, Sowelu, Tiwaz, Berkano, Ehwaz, Mannaz, Laguz, Ingwaz, Dagaz, Othala. In English: Wealth, Aurochs, Thorn, Divine Breath, Travel, Torch, Gift, Joy, Hail, Need, Ice, Harvest, Tree, Luck, Elk, Sun, Creator, Birch tree, Horse, Man, Water, Fertility, Day, Home. Odin, prepare for battle! A hug.

Heilung call their music amplified history. They take inspiration from old text and and runic inscriptions from Germanic peoples of the Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Viking Age. I believe the members are a mix from Denmark, Norway and Germany. This performance was their first time preforming as a group on stage. (I was there in the audience) I love the music a lot and really gets you into a trance after awhile. Most of the instruments, costumes and props like the microphone stands are made by themselves and they use real bones and skins for this. If you want to hear more from them I can really recommend "Krigsgaldr" or "Norupo" from them.

Heilung has touch my soul like no other music… seen their ceremony live in San Francisco, life changing. I watch many first time reactions to Heilung just watch how deep within people go, it’s an energy connection that most can’t explain. As they say… Remember That We Are All Brothers, All People, Beast, Trees & Stone & Wind, We All Descend From The One Great Being That Was Always There Before People Lived & Named It, Before The First Seed Sprouted. I truly believe this band will bring this Magick back 🙏

This is the place where the ancient Kelts meet The Huns with the Maori peeking over our shoulders. Can't get more tribal than this, besides the Hu (Mongol band) and it influences your most basic feelings. This is music at its basest, most primal, and strangely most enjoyable. Satisfying stuff. This is also where so-called Gregorian music (church chants) got the mustard. In its zeal to erradicate paegan beliefs, the Roman Catholic church not only planted churches in the spots of heathen gathering places, they also took the rhythms and tones of ancient chants and made them into their own.

Just listen to the entire album, and keep looking up the lyrics, its awesome. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmKlpH5_hZmoj68 - Opening Ceremony (chant/prayer with band and public about Yggdrasil, the tree of life, that we are all part off) kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmKlpH5_hZmoj6895 - In Maidjan (the corruption) about creation: the gods are called to create the sun, and everything that sprouts from it. Then the Elder Futhark is chanted: the runic alphabet. Each rune both a sound humans make to communicate, a letter, as a 'concept' in itself, for example S, Sowilo, also means 'Sun', M(annaz) also means 'Man', D(agaz) also means 'day' (concept of time) etc. Then Odin is asked to look at our struggle. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmKlpH5_hZmoj68 - Alfadhirhaiti (All names that the allfather, god, has) About the things created and experienced by god through his creation. From wolf to human warriors. Who will always continue to exist, because we remember them. Then follows a list of names of 'god'. Basically: 'everything'. ('God of the hanged' is a reference to their religion, where they thought god hanged himself upside down in the tree of life, to splinter in 'life', and to experience the universe through us, so god himself, as an entity is 'dead', and only continues to live, because we remember him, we are 'gods eyes'. Jup: Its complicated) kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmKlpH5_hZmoj68390 - Carpathian Forest is a reference to the protogermanic greatest accomplishment of defense: the battle with the roman invaders in the carpathian forest: where complete legions of romans 'went in, but never came out'. The war-chants of the 'pagan' army coming from the dark woods still makes any roman shiver. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmKlpH5_hZmoj68628 - Krigsgaldr (war chant) about what choice we are left with if someone invades our lands. If you only do one: do this one. Its a masterpiece. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmKlpH5_hZmoj68 - Hakkerskaldyr (shield formation) Lyrics: 'Hey! Every men! Hear our voices! Listen to us now: In thy hands is death Thy people we shall slaughter And no mercy will be given Fearless we are Death makes us laugh War is what we want Thou! Dies! In this battle thou shall dies.' kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmKlpH5_hZmoj68 - Fylgija Ear / Futhorck. Fylgija Ear () : "The grave is terrible to every earl, when the fixed flesh begins, the corpse cooling, to choose the earth, paleness as its bedmate. Fruits fail, joys depart, mankind ceases to be. " first in (old) german, then in old english. This describes that both sides in war mourn exactly the same. Then, in 'Futhorck', runes are rolled, and with each rune a small story is told. Depicting all things that can happen in life, but then the 'death' rune is pulled, and its all over. Death, being as much part of life, as life. Your life can be short or long, filled with events, but in the end we all roll 'death', and thats ok. That is how it is. Without 'death' as event, there would be NO events. (this is all very religious). kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmKlpH5_hZmoj68 - Othan (Odin) is a poëm about the actual fight. It begins with untranslatable warchant/spell: "Hariuha laþu laukar gakar alu ole lule laukar" then a man tells about how he started as 1 in 11, who led them in battle, he prays they go to the fight, and come back home, as a whole. But when he comes back, he is only 1 in 5. Arrows struck the rest down. And there was nothing he could do, even when he could see it happen. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmKlpH5_hZmoj68 - Hamrer Hippyer is about bringing in some prisoners: and taking revenge on them for the losses of the kinsmen. They chant: 'hang the animals' and 'blood for blood' 'a bone for a bone' 'so that wounds can heal again' Then it says: 'may this story be of any help'

I see I am a little late with comments but just som info about the way she sings. When she uses that high pitched voice is a technique called Kulning that is used in Scandinavia (Norway and Sweden) where girls took the cattle out in the forest. They lived together with the animals alone for the entire summer. The cattle was roaming freely and to call them back they used this song. There is videos on YT where you can see them using this and it works. The girls also used it to communicate between each other. The songs can travel many kilometres in good conditions

They sing the Elder Futhark, the runic alphabet en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elder_Futhark#Description its not only letters: when the gods gave humanity the runes, they where, from that point on, able to communicate over distance: and over time, society, as we know it, history, started: with the runes. Also: each rune represents a concept: (M)anaz, mankind, (S)owilo, the Sun, etc
