Maarva's funeral speech, Kino Loy's declaration to the prisoners of Narkina-5, Nemik's manifesto, Luthen's monologue about sacrifice - I cannot believe we got FOUR of the best written and best acted single-character monologues I think I've ever seen on TV, all in the same season of the same series. Disney may have brutalized and humiliated the Star Wars franchise into an early grave in terms of profitability, but holy hot dogs am I glad this show exists. Absolutely phenomenal all the way through!

Tony Gilroy isn't into star wars so I'm not sure he'd want to be in charge of anything. He didn't know much about it and I noticed that's why so many people hate on Rogue One and Andor.

This why we should love the Prequel, because it did not bashing or destroying the Original Trilogy, it shows why the original Star Wars really important. Unlike the sequel garbage, killed every our favourite characters like they are nothing compare to "rey".

This revisionist history about the prequels will never makes any sense to me but I was also old enough when they came out to be able to recognize when movies are bad. I love Luthen's reaction to this speech. He is on Ferrix while trying to lay the groundwork for a rebellion, but never expected Maarva's funeral speech (is it a eulogy when you deliver it yourself?) to actually ignite the flame. Up until this moment, he probably just thought of her as Cassian's mother, of no consequence or use to him, but now he can see what Cassian is made from, and how the people of Ferrix can factor into his plans.
@MindForgedManacle26 күн бұрын
It's more than that. Remember the line from the Aldhani heist? That freedom is a pure idea, and it occurs spontaneously. This is what the Ferrix uprising represents. That in that crucial moment when the oppression becomes impossible to ignore, the spark that ignites rebellion can suddenly burst forth. So while people like Luthen are necessary, it ultimately takes the people under that tyranny to rise up too. It's not that he's thinking how they can factor into his plans, it's his realization that they will be the spark that starts the Rebellion. He wanted that spark, he just didn't expect it to be there, where's he's just at to find Cassian.

@combatwombat21342 ай бұрын
Andor, along with Rogue One and Empire Strikes Back is peak Star Wars. The three of them standout by making the Empire an actual threat and showing the levels the Rebellion must stoop to to beat them. It makes it much more compelling and therefore better, IMO, than it's already good counterpart films and shows not mentioned above. Well, mostly good films and shows. Mentioning no clear drop outs.
@jazzx251Ай бұрын
You forgot the original Star Wars - that shows you the awful Death Star's capabilities ... Without that - you don't get the other three
@combatwombat2134Ай бұрын
@jazzx251 yeah, that's a fair point to make. Whilst I don't disagree, in the spirit of friendly debate, would you say the destruction of it somewhat tarnishes the theme I alluded to in my comment which was the threat of the Empire? Given they fell prey to subterfuge and intelligence? Or would you consider that a reinforcement to your and my points that they were so strong this was the only way they could be effectively touched at first? Thanks for the comment, I like discussing this kinda stuff.

It goes both ways really. I’m independent but I’ve lived in cities and I’ve lived in small towns in the country. And what I’ve seen is that the right leaning folks living in small towns just want to be left alone, it’s really nothing malicious. So when there’s more left influence and the cities are making all the decisions about the way things work for everyone, that causes major government control over these small towns that don’t need it or want it. To them the government involving themselves and requiring them to need their help feels like the Empire to those folks.
@Sage2000Ай бұрын
@zacharyjamesdixon and there it is... The alt right are the antivax, flat earthers, regilgious extremists, militaristic nuts, and all kinds of ignorant people that does not let other people alone. Hmph - its low viewing figures suggest a good reason why the USA elected a fascist (they have been dumbed down so much, that morality and wisdom go out of the window) , effectively ruining the sacrifice of all of those who died in World War II I think it did way better in Mexico considering who THEY'VE elected to office - a wise scientist with a heart of gold ... Dr. Claudia Scheinbaum Faced with a bullying tyrant (moron - more like ..), she casually did a deal with the Chinese as she prepares her people for the Tariff Wars ... Mexico's first female President is proper ANDOR material - a lifelong revolutionary - but rather than rely on droids to display a recorded message, she has decided to go high-energy by addressing the nation every morning in a press conference herself As mayor of Mexico City, she had to deal with thugs and gangsters all the time - so Trump will be easy

I don't think many had expected that out of the Star Wars live actions shows we got, the show dedicated to a character we've seen in only a single movie, was the one show that would move the entire fanbase to it's core like this. Obi-Wan Kenobi? Was fine. Book of Boba Fett was... Meh... Ahsoka was okay... But Andor? Andor was a MASTERPIECE! Take notes, Disney, because THIS is EXACTLY how you create a good Star Wars series.
