@@freddysamjacob363 Same, some songs have become more boring to me and sometimes I find myself trying to convince myself of liking the album. I have to say, I wasn't expecting a Melodrama 2.0. PH and Melodrama are very far away from each other to expect an album from Lorde that sounds like her previous records, so I tried to go open minded into it.

To whoever said "It's not Lorde's fault that she got happy and you didn't," you're a GENIUS. Because yes! It's not her fault! If you wanted another Melodrama......literally go listen to Melodrama. i love how her album always reflect on my life journey too... when she released Melodrama, I was 17. I remember going to prom and just went wild and cried coming home later. Now, im at college, at a much better place and she released Solar Power. I think its cause shes only a year or two older than me, so that's why it coincides. the Maori version is just as good especially SATNS and Oceanic Feelings.

@@bowtieism3 But Lorde critisized celebrity culture since Pure Heroin while having there lyrics about how she "was raised to be admired and to be noticed". It didn't really change. It's kinda "I'm not like other girls" vibe for me. Here it's similar- on one hand she criticized celebrities, California etc and on the other hand she promotes herself to be the LORDE. And I understand that the promotion is needed and that her fans already created this vibe around her, but you can't listen to her and not see that she thinks that she's special. And she kind of is.This kind of self-confidence is needed to stand on a stage and create something, but the message about other celebrities wanting to be famous and how she's not like them seems childish to me.

My favorites are Big Star, Secrets from a Girl, and many more. Okay. All of em. I was disappointed with most songs at first. But lorde did they grow on me. And in contrary, the reason people don't appreciate a shift in an artists approach is because in metaphoric terms "a novelist doesn't write two books of the same story". Solar Power birthed something in me I've lost on the journey of my growing pains. She's my age so I felt like we grew up together.

I've listened to the album a few times and I'm still waiting for it to grow on me. 😭 (I really hope it does!) I agree with what you said about the songs starting to sound the same, I think that is my main issue. Most of the songs kinda form into one as I'm listening. The Man With The Axe is one of my favorites! It was so heartwarming lyrically and the melodic progressions within it were like a beautiful mess. It’s kind of discombobulated on purpose to portray the conflicting feelings the persona is experiencing towards themselves vs. towards someone they love. Standout lyrics for me would be the second to the last stanza, “I guess I'll always be this way Swallowed up by the words and halfway to space But there by the fire, you offered your hand And as I took it, I loved you, the boy with the plan” I hope you give it another chance!

Uhm, I mean... folklore and evermore stand totally on their own. Lana's album is like a tenue folk. Clairo's album is more jazzy And Lorde's has the lightness of 70's. People just started saying this since the realising of stoned at the nail salon, but Lorde herseld said that she was the main creator of the album, so it's not Jack's fault.

I know. I mean on those individual albums themselves there’s a lot of cohesion to a fault. I’m not saying those albums as a whole sound identical. And I know Jack produced melodrama as well I’m not saying he’s terrible. Just based on what he’s produced in the last couple years plus his most recent bleachers album this is how I feel.
@asf8648
@asf8648 3 жыл бұрын
@@GoMulanGo I wouldn't describe any of his work with Taylor or the bleachers albums as sounding like what Lorde is doing here. Folklore maybe but its more like a adult, folksy evolution of her country stuff. Especially songs like Betty, LGAD, Dorothea, and Cowboy Like Me. The Bleachers is so Springsteen that Springsteen features on it. I don't listen to the other singers you mentioned so no opinion, but I just don't agree that this stuff sounds homogeneous. Especially since this only production on evermore is the most synth pop song on both records.
