I remember a time when I could sing the lyrics of every song in the top ten on iTunes, and now most of the time, I only know 2-3 of the songs on streaming/Billboard. While I like the fact that streaming can allow any artist of any genre/language to be big, it definitely leads to less general public knowledge of the songs.

Girl. I can't tell you how much I wish music artists WOULD unionize like SAG/WGA. It's what the music industry needs.
@beneales Жыл бұрын
Musician here - the reason the industry isn't striking is because the main revenue stream for artists themselves is live performing, whereas the main revenue stream for labels is typically sales and streams. We can't strike and quit performing, or we make absolutely nothing, and we can't pull from streaming, because then we have nothing to earn any revenue with at all. As soon as a solution that doesn't completely screw over artists is found, we WANT to strike - but it's a lot less survivable at the moment for musicians if they striked in the same manner as WGA or SAG. Believe me though, we ALL want to.
@Gabes1321 Жыл бұрын
@@beneales another thing is that movies produced by people in the sag union are a lot less commonly released. New music is released every day, movies are released much less. If musicians did a long strike, it would be damaging to the entire music industry and there would be a large gap where no music is being released when usually we are used to LOADS of it being released. And if musicians did multiple short strikes, then it would have no effect. Music can be produced and worked on ANYWHERE, so even when on strike, musicians can just alter their release schedule to fit in with the strikes and secretly work on music at home, because that's what the public would expect. Acting can only be worked on on set, so if an actor wasn't allowed to work, they wouldn't be able to, no questions asked, whereas a musician would still be able to work, making the strike useless as they will just release as soon as the strike is over.

I 100% believe her management told her to run with that, to make that a bigger deal than her bf, so people would forget about the original conversation. and the fact that 90% of the people that I've seen talk about her recently don't even acknowledge the fact that it started with her bf kinda proves it ngl.

I think when it comes to separating the music from the artist. The fairest way is based on whether they put themselves into the music/story. For example, when Taylor Swift wrote folklore and did the love triangle. It was pure story and for the music. But when Taytay wrote All Too Well, it's hard to separate the music from the artists because it was about her previous relationship with Jake G. So it really about how much the artist puts themselves into the narrative of the music.

Exactly they are gonna say "5 second reels don't prove blackpink is talented" when it's a good one when actually there are millions of reels that are of different moments in concerts and blackpink do actually do best most of the time cause I have seen the entire Houston concert. But then whenever there is like maybe a 5 second clip of someone messing up they are gonna say "the idol doesn't give their all and they are tallentless" which is so hypocritical cause it could be 10 reels of the same moment and the haters would call it a day and start to trash on blackpink right away. Literally in that french charity performance blackpink LITERALLY ate the stage full performance, but during just one of the movements which lasted 3 seconds her voice gave up and guess what people again said "blackpink never give it all" "jisoo is so miserable"..... at this point do i even need to say anything?!!?! bro EVERY idol almost every one in the kpop and other music industries have ALWAYS had moments of a few seconds when they mess up sometime, I don't wanna say anyone's name cause it's gonna make a war. Like even the "legends" and the "good artists" people speak about have such moments but they don't get judged. Then the sIut shaming and all that. Like bro why do hwasa hyuna Jessi and other kpop idols have careers if being sultry was unacceptable?!?! Jennie could be wearing shorts and a crop top and yall would call her vulgar. Like bro the born pink concert is a 16+ concert and they are literally singing explicit songs like tally and others which require parental advisory!! How come for evrry artists it's that "artists aren't the parents, parents should be more responsible" and for blackpink it's straight up "lisa looking like a h00ker and the stripr she was born to be!" Like wtf is that about?! And to the one boy band fandom that hates them, didn't your maknae make a "I freak people seven days a week and I am really good in bed" with the entire promo being images that would be reported for being vulgar if blackpink did that or when they sinp over bts reels and make "hot MoMeNtS" about them. And to the other big kpop gurl group fandom, isn't momo and jihyo wearing clothes that show skin as well? Why do yall feel the need to hate on blackpink if you are comfortable with twice?! How many times has momo dances a sexy song with very suggestive moves and how many times has Mina performed that 7 "twerks" by ariana grande and hasn't received 1% of whatever lisa has gotten?! And if I consider male idols a whole world come new. Like yall excuse ateez stray kids and thousands of kpop bands for being sexy and fetishize them but if it's blackpink yall won't waste a time before launching your death threats?! for the seperating the art from the artist, i feel like it was easier before when the artist wasn't as much of a brand as they are now. you used to know so much less about their lives than you do now and because of the internet and social media, you are now aware of thier personal lives and beliefs. also, there is the aspect of you buying their tickets/merch and streaming their music which supports their lifestyle and gives them a higher platform and therefore influence over their audience. for example, one who hears about an artist with problematic views and beliefs could judge those beliefs to be less drastic then they are because said artist is famous and it therefore can't be that bad. it could understate the severity of the issue. an example for this, would be Kanye who very publicly stated his (extremely problematic and dangerous) beliefs and has the platform to influence young people, who might not know better and be less educated, could see him having a big platform those beliefs not affecting him in any way or recieving repercussions apart from most of the general public viewing him in a negetive light. With the only repercussions he has seemed to face is with Adidas and maybe Germany in the future if he said the things he's saying in Germany which hasn't happened yet.

I still have been waiting for more music reactors to stream and actually listen to more country music. Like my favorite artist and project this year so far has been Kelsea Ballerini's 'Rolling Up The Welcome Mat' and 'Rolling Up The Welcome Mat (For Good). This project being released on Valentine's Day with a matching short film, has been easily a highlight of this year. I just want for more reactors to actually give quality country/country pop music a thorough, unbiased opinion.

Rolling Up The Welcome Mat is a great album
@lunarodrigues214 Жыл бұрын
Yes I whole heartedly agree, I think this EP is unbelievable and just really shows Kelsea’s potential and experimentation with the genre and I hate that country radio and country awards shows aren’t giving her enough recognition because she molds the genre and takes different inspirations ranging from pop, alternative, indie, r&b to make her songs and doesn’t stick to the classic roots of country music
@ViktoriaKatlynn Жыл бұрын
@@lunarodrigues214 it really frustrates me because Kelsea has been making really good music for about 9 years. my personal favorite song off of the EP is Penthouse (Healed Version). just give her music a chance!

I don't know if this opinion is popular or not but mine is that promoters should give more time before selling tickets because an artist's concert could still be 6-7 months away but I only have 2 weeks to prepare before the tickets go on sale, lucky if there are still tickets available after but most of the time they sold out in the few hours💔

I don't get what Harry Style's style (non intentional pun) has to do with being a minority. As a queer person, I can only speak about that matter. But I feel like I'm constantly seen as straight because of the way I dress and the things I like. You can be straight and wear more androgynous clothing. You can be a straight man and be more feminine. Sexuality isn't a personality trait, and we need to stop perpetuating stereotypes. He is just expressing himself the way he wants to.

My unpopular opinion is I do not care how many people wrote a song, if the singer writes their music etc. plenty of artist get songs that are already written and just sing them as their own. Many writers are not singers and do not want to be so why does it matter who the fuck wrote what song. Not saying writers should not get credited because they should and singers who can write are amazing and cool but there is also nothing wrong with someone who has a lot of writers on a song does not mean it is not personal or a song they love and a song that they feel is apart of them.
@lunarodrigues214 Жыл бұрын
I agree with this but I guess it matters to people who listen to songs for their musicality and lyrics, not to people who listen to a song just because of the vibes. People like Justin Bieber write with quite a few co-writers and still are successful, I think it’s more about the discussion around being a full artist that this is taken in account. A lot of people consider that you’re not a full artist if you don’t have a significant involvement or influence at lest on the composition of your songs, whether that’d be the writing of the lyrics or producing the track, or composing the melodies and the general structure of the song, that doesn’t mean that if you don’t respect this « condition », you’re not a musical artist but you don’t « do it all » meaning you don’t have a huge writing or producing credit And again I think it’s a personal decision to like an artist because you relate to their lyrics that you know they have written so you feel more connected to this artist. Some people feel more attached to an artist’s music if they feel that they are being authentic or original with their work and a lot of the times in the creative process, that authenticity stems from writing your music by yourself or with one co-writer or a few about your personal life experiences.

I feel like all the opinions about "music isn't what it used to be" don't come from a genuine place but beacuse of romanticizing the past and nostalgia. Times change and 10 or 20 years ago, ppl also said that this isn't about art anymore, this is about making money. Rememeber that 5 years ago everyone said albums are dead, and because of the vinyls, albums had their comeback and now much more people listens to a full body of work, and the artists are trying to make it more personal & artistic. So I don't think everything in music sucks this days.
