Welcome to Jinjer. Tatiana is a vocal goddess and the band's musicianship is top tier. To appreciate how good this band is, react to their live material. I recommend "Perennial" live at Wacken. To get a close up view of Tati's vocal techniques react to "Judgement and Punishment" one take vocal performance. Good reaction (Subbed)

Pisces, apart from Bad water (the all-cleans song), is a song where her clean singing takes half of the time and in my opinion, is a best display of how beautiful she can sing. There are others, but this one always stands out. I love them as they are, but I always thought that if they'd branch a clean, musically lighter opus, it would definitely gain a hefty audience, they're so pleasant to listen to. I think you'd like Perennial LIVE at Wacken and Wallflower.

-I remember hearing this song for the first time over a year ago. I have had a hard time not saying that it “hooked me” on them because of the corny pun. It got me interested in them. Now, I’m a huge fan. I saw them back in December for the first concert I had attended in “Damn, I’m Old” years. I’m seeing them again in July and bought my ticket for the. In September. -Like most people, what drew me in were Tatiana Shmayluk’s vocals. As a metal fan back in high school, I enjoyed rough vocals like Dave Mustaine but wasn’t a fan of growls which were used in Death Metal. Her pairing of unbelievable clean vocals with her growls as well as her ability to switch while not having her voice get strained is amazing. It’s even more amazing when you find out she hasn’t any formal training. -I have listened to this song hundreds, maybe thousands, of times. Even with all of those times, I still have to brace myself as soon as I hear “Pisces Swimming Through The River.” As soon as she hits that belt, my body just melts. That was the part where I knew this band was special. -What’s great is, once the shock of Tati’s vocals is no longer there, you realize that this is a truly great BAND, not a great lead vocalist with a bunch musicians. You can hear how everyone compliments each other to create a unique sound. -While “Pisces” got me interested in them, it wasn’t the song that made me a fan. As I was checking out some of their other tracks, nothing clicked for me. I was wanting another “Pisces.” Right before I gave up, I heard the official live performance of the song “Bad Water.” The initial vibe reminded me of “Pisces.” After I heard that song, my first comment was “I get it!” I compare them to Queen because they don’t have a “sound” even though they’re categorized in a particular genre. They experiment with multiple styles to create a unique style. After that, every song I’ve checked out has been great including the songs I had earlier checked out but wasn’t seeing anything in.

I'm an older chap too, also discovered them just over a year ago, and seen them 3 times since (Bloodstock, Supporting BFMV in Liverpool UK, and Download Festival). I love her vocals, but wanted to double down on your statement about the rest of the band. They're all excellent at what they do. I'm a bass player, and absolutely love the grooves Eugene puts down with his tapping, hammers, and slides. It's inspired me to learn new skills.
@matthewgrady3423 Жыл бұрын
@@stuartcollins82 That’s funny. As I said, “Bad Water” is what turned me into a fan of theirs. While I loved Tati’s vocals and passion on it immensely, the moment that I remember that changed my attitude was Eugene’s bass outro. Right after that was when I got them.

This is the only time that Tatiana goes up to that head voice-"searching for a hook to catch on and see their sunbeams" save out side of when it was first laid down in the studio for the King of Everything album some time before this was done. Tatiana has said she doesn't go high on that part as she's afraid she'll mess up so she just gutturals it. Gutturals/growl/warrior voice. And yes it never gets old seeing new reactions to this. They've done some big festivals so far this year. Rock AM ring, Download fest, and I think they were on the same stage/main stage as Metallica at Download fest. That's what they're doin right now Euro festivals. Nice reaction and welcome to the rabbit hole of Jinjer.

The things in Tati's ears are gauges, I don't know what size she wears though, and yes they are goldfish. She is a Pisces (star sign) and the song is about the characteristics of that sign. Her clean sound is to die for, if not the growls will kill you...interesting reaction though, a lot of people that I have seen react to her have recoiled in horror because the change is so dramatic and sounds almost if not demonic. But is in actuality a mass of air forced around the vocal folds. And she taught herself how to make that work.
