Hello Sharm ! Nightwish fans here, your musical quest summoned us. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air festival 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of a 82k audience. Also a recent sad news - these days Marco Hietala, the bass player and male singer of the band, announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. As I saw, you enjoyed the powerful performance of the band, together with the stellar vocals of our Dutch metal queen, Floor Jansen. Hope you'll continue on this path. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Hello beautiful Nightwish Army! 👊💜 Thank you so much for visiting my reaction of this incredible performance by Floor and her band. I will respond to each and every one of your comments individually but I just wanted to type up a quick message to blanket cover some of the recurring thoughts I saw! I know, I'm a bloody nightmare when it comes to talking during music - I just get so passionate when something moves me so much and I think if I kept on pausing the video then we'd never get to the end haha 😅 As a singer myself, I just can't help myself but to try and mimic vocal techniques I hear... I guess it's a bit like dangling a catnip toy in front of a cat and telling the cat not to swipe at it; I just feel it in the moment and it's hard not to do it - but I know this can be annoying! I'll try my best to not do it but I can't promise anything because it's like a knee-jerk reaction haha. This also leads in to my headphone placement which I know irked a lot of you arghhh 😅 I record vocals almost every day and it's habit for me to have one ear on and one ear off so that I can hear both myself and the music. I can assure you I don't wear my headphones like this when I am just drenching myself in general music listening where I'm not reacting or vlogging or singing 'cause that WOULD be weird haha. This gig was at Wacken. Wacken is THE metal festival worldwide. Nightwish were one of the headliners in 2013. It is in the north of Germany in a rural area. Therefore the bullhead with flames is the Wacken symbol. There are more than 80.000 metalheads having a big party each year.

Floor Jansen is considered the best and most versatile female singer of our time. She explains on her KZbin channel some of her skills in interesting Vocal Masterclasses. Last week she made a video reacting to herself performing this song at this concert. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. Also there are other videos to watch such as chats with her idols and other singers, mindblowing covers and so much more. Her 'Fan Friday' videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of the presents she left there. To see how Floor developed her versatility check out her former bands 'After Forever' (my favourite song is 'Energize Me', there is a beautiful official music video out there) and 'Revamp'. Here she experimented with different sounds within one song such as from full operatic to serious growling in seconds. The songs 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples. In her side project 'Northward' she went into hardrock. The song 'While Love Died' is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. Hi Sharm. Just another day at the Nightwish office! Floor is Dutch and is classically trained. She is a 1.8m powerhouse and can really "sell" a story with emotion, expression and her vocal gymnastics. Nightwish instrumentalists...there are few words. Another Soul Snatched by the Valkyrie Goddess. BTW Darling , Our Goddess ( Mrs Floor Jansen) can do this for days but unfortunately venues wont allow that , so she Blessed us for 1 hour and 38 minutes at this particular show and trust me , its one of THE MOST DEMANDING set list any vocalist would attempt .

A week ago I bought my ticket to Nightwish. Only 6months to go! I will propably cry from the first beat to the end of the show. Going to concerts gives me life and not been able to go has been ruff. Nightwish has also been in my bucketlist for a long time. Can’t wait!!

I am a 56 year old, Australia and cannot figure out why I have never heard of Nightwish until about 12 months ago. They are in my opinion the greatest band ever. If you want to check out a little bit a Floor by herself please try a reaction to her performance in the European show The Bestie Zangers. She performs the most incredible version of Shallow, Lady Gagga and Bradley Cooper, that I have ever heard. also her song Winner. Winner that was written by another singer, Tim, in the show is a real tear jerker if you read up on the history of the song first. Tim said that he never cries and at the end of Floor's version with tears in his eye he simply says "F&*%k you Floor””.

Oh, someone who knows 'The Goonies' film? Yep, one of my favourite films as well like many others from the 1980's. A very good time or era. Loved it. I only discovered this song a few years ago and was equally blown away by Floor Jansen's vocals. Since I've been a metal/rock fan since 1988 I have never come across someone with her ability and I've listened to a lot of different genres over the years. I'm only discovering this symphonic metal genre and if you like this song, you might like a band called Xandria with a song called 'Nightfall'. That's a pretty good song as well and not a lot of reaction channels have covered it. Go on, give it a go, for this old Goonie.

She most often uses a varying mix of head and chest voicing. Even with her more operatic stylings she’s closer to a classical or bel canto voice rather than true operatic voicing on this song. But she can position her voice virtually anywhere within her three octave plus range without a millisecond pause. Her fluidity, pitch and breath control are phenomenal. She’s a true vocal athlete and pleasantly theatrical without being the least bit contrived about it. Check out her guest appearance with Nightwish’s original vocalist Tarja Turunen where they perform Over the Hills and Far Away to see an interesting contrast between two gifted vocalists. Tarja is more true to opera. Floor is more stylistically versatile. And IMO far better at immediately connecting with her audience.

2:40 - there's a funny story behind this. Apparently, it was a long-standing prank where Emppu (the guitarist) would turn down Floor's mic control. He did it this time as well, but Floor noticed and was like "na-uh, I'm turning it back up"
