Icy is quite the mess, but a catchy one 😂 difficult to listen for the first time for a lot of people, but works great when you are feeling that sassy icy vibe.

Ro honestly with how much of a mess it is, it reminds me heavily of Cheer Up by Twice in feel. Cheer Up was so messy the first time I heard it, and so was ICY and I fell in love with both lol

Depends. Some say messy but if you've ever gone to hear a hip hop/techno/minimal DJ play it's pretty tame. It's also got tons more replayability, while I grow rather bored sometimes of songs that don't have enough "mess" to them. I think both have their place, messy when done well like this is just as good as safe/chill/simple music...tho is more scary for most to listen to cuz they aren't as used to it.

i still haven’t gotten tired of icy yet. that’s how much i love it! there’s so much going on but i really dig that. the percussion during the dance break is, indeed, ‘on fleek’ as kevin said. it’s my favourite part of the song. but in general, like the overall attitude and vibe created, by the kind of bouncy, punchy baseline and percussion, i really dig it. it’s really different and fresh, i guess, from the other music that’s been released this year (not that there’s anything wrong w that!) so i’m really digging their stuff right now (it’z summer is another fave). i’m hoping jyp pushes them to explore this kind of direction / vibe!

Umu captured my emotional response to what he was saying perfectly:) I appreciate how hectic this song was tho it seemed like some were a bit offput by it on release. Maybe I can understand and enjoy it more cuz of my background in DJing tho, i'm used to that fast pace and jumping from one thing to another quickly. Also the layering, i'm a minimalist but dammit when a thicc beat is done right it's so good! That's another thing I love about Kpop is that heavy collaboration, I assume the reason it's so complex is due to all the producers adding their own stuff to the music? I dig it, you can come up with some magical stuff or a hot mess in those scenarios but Kpop always seems to handle it well.
