It's part of Coldplay lore that one of the reasons they became friends was because they all LOVED Back To The Future. It's even in their documentary - home video of them watching it together and quoting the script to each other. Such a beautiful full circle moment for them ❤

It was sad enough then MJF on stage and then, I pictured that one scene in my head in BTTF. My favourite movie and my favourite band, realised this myst have been bucket list MJF, then “Jonny go Jonny go go go” started, I cried my eyes out for the first time watching a performance, Coldplay forever.

Coldplay are one of my favourite bands. The night my mum passed away, the 1st song that came on the car radio was fix you. I felt every word as I couldn't fix her. She passed away 17 tears ago, but for the 1st 10 years I couldn't listen to this song, but I learned to love it again. Love from across the pond ❤🇬🇧

Im not sure how many more times I can cry to coldplay in general. This band has held my heart for years and years. You are right it’s like being consoled and uplifted .. Chris is a master lyricist not because it’s always poetic but because it’s always truthful and pure. They get so much unnecessary hate. I think in some ways people don’t want music to cause them to grow or be uplifted because a lot of the hate Coldplay get are for their newer stuff which is extremely encouraging music. I dunno I’ve never quite understood putting down something that’s always been such a beacon of hope especially in these times.

Strange thing is it has nothing to do with Coldplay. When I heard Coldplay 20 odd years ago I loved them, my son reacted like most 19 yr olds, if my dad likes them, somethings not right. Then my son had kids, they grew up, and they thought, my dad doesn't like coldplay, but grandad loves them and they're brilliant. Just look at the age of the crowd if you doubt me. *"Every generation blames the one before"* for something or other, taste in music or whatever. *Mike and the mechanics quote from a song called "In the living years",well worth a listen.

One of my dream which I thought will just stay a dream: to attend a Coldplay concert. Because they used to only play in Europe and America, I doubt I'll be able to afford travelling to the west for their concert. …then one day they decide to tour Asia ❤ I get to fulfill my dream. Their concerts are full of love ❤️ 💕. It will forever be a special memory of my life.

It was a big surprise Coldplay brought MJF on stage. I believe it was in 2016 when Michael was a little more able he was on stage with Coldplay playing Johnny B. Goode in America & that was beautiful 🥰 I was at Glastonbury festival in 2005 & 2011, being amongst 100,000 + people (especially those Coldplay sets) singing along is an experience bordering on religion. In 2024's Glasto they also brought out Victoria Canal female pianist (who was born without her right forearm) , the Chilean-Palestinian singer Elyanna & sent love & positivity to the whole world including Palestine & Israel

What I understand is that Chris Martin (lead singer) saw Michael J Fox play the electric guitar as Marty McFly in the back to the future movie in 1985 and that inspired Chris Martin to learn how to play the guitar. Then about 10 years later he would form Coldplay with the other 3 members.

I don't get the hate for Coldplay. It's because they're popular like you said. They've been mushed in with groups like Nickleback (who aren't even bad they were just everywhere). Coldplay have beautiful songs. (I was writing this during your intro and you just mentioned nickleback hahaha). There comes a point when a band or song is heard so much people start thinking its bad. James Blunt is a fantastic example of this. A truly brilliant musical artist who people hate because he was overplayed. Lewis Capaldi is/was very popular recently and everyone praises him for his beautiful songs but I can guarantee people are gonna get bored of him and he'll be the next James Blunt/Coldplay/Keane. But look at how people react to Fix You or Yellow, look how they react to You're Beautiful, look how they are currently reacting to Someone You Loved. Those artists and songs may get overplayed and seen as boring and generic, but they'll always be beautiful and meaningful.

You have to ask, are you an actual music fan if you you hate on Coldplay, please react to their new song “feels like I’m falling in love”, the official video, at their concerts they have sign language area’s with vibration mats, it’s how deaf people can feel music, and halfway through the video something magical happens, and when you realise what that moment is, it will hit you, well it did me and brought a tear to my eye. Coldplay…. Always amazing and they care

Yes I think Coldplay songs have probably become too formulaic. They have a certain attraction but after a while you see it as lacking real depth. They are the music equivalent of fast food
