How is it possible that this sequence makes me emotional in game form and in live-action? I knew the death was coming, and I still was emotional when it happened. Troy Baker & Hana Hayes and Pedro Pascal & Nico Parker devastated me with their respective performances.

I love this scene, but I wish they used the exact music and sounds Sarah made. I think if they recreated it more and used more of the game music when the seasons changed, it would have been perfect. Something about the way Sarah yelped and screamed broke me.

+jatilq As someone who has played the original game twice, I can tell you it was great as is. Remember, this is mostly for people who never played the game. Is it a plus that people who played the game also watched this show? Yes. But, the whole point is to hook people in that's coming into this blind.

@@thealjohnsonshow2188 Strange response. Suggesting I have not played the games multiple times and do not own both volumes of the score? Or that I have not watched behind the scenes of how the scene I'm talking about was filmed and how emotional it was for the actors? The score makes many of the scenes and it's very well done in pivotal parts of the game. I loved the series, but feel the new fans would have loved the same use of the score. The Last of Us won Excellence in Musical Score at the 2014 SXSW Gaming Awards, and the soundtrack received nominations at the 10th British Academy Video Games Awards and Spike VGX 2013, and from Hardcore Gamer, IGN and GameTrailers. Since we are talking about this. One of the best scenes in the game is when Joel finds Ellie in the fire and they talk to one another, but you can not hear what they said. Listen to the actors on that scene.

People always ruin it by watching the show before playing the game. The show is definitely a big spoiler of the game, because it summarizes it. The game is more immersive and goes much deeper into the story. The only thing the show probally did better was Bills story. But I think Sam's and Henry's story in the game was more impactful because Henry brought up an important point which is are people who turn still trapped in their body.

@SourStrawberrys Some people don't play games so the show is the only experience they'll get of this story. I have played both and this scene I feel is way more impactful in the show because of its acting than the game. Sure they left a few bits of dialogue out from the game but it's honestly not ruining watching the show first over the game. Yes if they choose to play the game afterwards than the story is spoiled but I think you should be able to enjoy a story regardless if you choose the show over the game. It's their choice to do so and tbh the show can be better for some because of all the stealth bits, crafting and looking for parts to upgrade yourself or weapons.

@christhomas6455 I've seen several people literally buy a console just to play this game. You dont have to be a gamer to play this game. Also, there are thousands of playthroughs. So there is really no excuse not to watch the game first. You don't have to even play the game to experience the entire game story first. And no, I disagree. This scene is way more impactful in the game than on the show. Joel doesn't even show his face in this scene. He has it hidden in his arm. Even his daughters face was hidden. So you don't see the pain and tears of his face like in the game. The game acting was actually better because at least we clearly saw is face. And did you forget the people in the game are also actors as well. The acting was just as good if not better.

@@christhomas6455 This was said elegantly. I preordered this game back in the day. Played it endlessly including the multiplayer. The show absolutely ddi the game justice enough for me to experience this first episode for the first time emotionally. For non-gamers this is an great introduction to the series. You can watch the show then play the game, or play the game then watch the show. Either way it's an experience you won't forget.

@@fermentedfrank8 exactly! If someone prefers watching let's say the show because of Pedro let them y'know. I'm sure tons of people who never played the games went out to see how similar they are and I'm sure the people who only saw the show may of bought the second game before that's even out. I feel that people should experience the story anyway they want. It's like people say with books and shows I've never read George R.R Martins books but I've watched both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon and enjoyed both of them without knowing any information from the books

this is why many gamers love a movie or show that sticks to the story in the games because many gamers know not everyone plays games. this is also why many gamers don't like game to movie adaptations because movie script writers never stick to the story in the games.
