My son likes Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, those are his go to. His most favorite independent reads this year was Explorer Academy series there's 7 in total and National Park Mystery series there's currently 3 printed with the plan of 11 to be written in total. Both of these series are a mix of adventures and mysteries. You have to read them in order. His favorite read aloud was Mr Lemoncello's Library series and Indian in the Cupboard series.

My daughter’s favorite author is Polly Horvath. What Gordon Korman book would you recommend trying first?

Restart is definitely our favorite Gordon Korman book. Ungifted and Supergifted are favoties as well. I've included links to all 3 of them in the description. I'm going to look into Polly Horvath. Thank you for the recommendation!
