What a great God we serve! It is true, that jealousy, like many emotions, are not bad in it of themselves, but righteous and out of love when applied correctly. From the very beginning, God poured out His love for us from creation and continued to show it, despite all our flaws and transgressions, by dying on the cross. Yes, what a merciful God we have!

If jealousy is intolerance of the beloved setting their affections on illegitimate rivals, I don't see why God shouldn't be jealous in this sense. It is part of his love for us that he wants us ordering our loves rightly - why would he not zealously want our affections to be rightly ordered towards him?

It now seem like your just using this in the context that suits you and all Christians. If you could look at this from a totally unbiased perspective you may see that this does not make sense. I'm not against Christianity at all. I just don't understand it. There's a world of contradiction. God the real creator would be jealous? Destroy? Kill children? Ask for animals to be sacrificed? That does not seem like a benevolent God. You say read between the lines well I say I am. 22 Some time later God tested Abraham. God rejects Cain's offering, and praises Abel's. Meat-eating and animal sacrifice remained as God's preferred actions throughout the Hebrew Scriptures. For example, when Noah finally got back to dry land, the first thing he done was to sacrifice some of his creatures, whereupon God "smelled a sweet savour" (Gen. 8:21). Only someone or thing with an ego needs praise. Wth??? What kind of God is this?? Then he says he is an all loving God, whispering sweet nothing in your ear and you believe it knowing he does these things? Just to tell yourself at night. Someone has my back and loves me. So that you don't take responsibility for your life? I believe that the creator has no need to be jealous or punish the innocent....because let's face it. Not everyone he killed was bad. The children of Egypt were innocent. If you think otherwise then you must have a great darkness in you too. For every action there is a reaction. Oh, and why don't I you see Gods mighty hand strike down on the horrible people today? I don't need a book that no one can fully comprehend or has not been properly interpreted( Aramaic) which is to vague a language in it of itself. I don't need this book to tell me that the Creator is above all of this. That I should be grateful and strive to be the most loving compassionate human being I could be. That I should take responsibility for my life( it's the least I can do) to show my appreciation and love. I may be wrong you maybe wrong but even if I brought this to a child who has never read the Bible or know nothing about God would be able to see that this is morally wrong.

First of all, before everything, let first prove yourself that the church you are in is the church of the true God and later founded by Jesus Christ which was purchased by Christ of his own body and blood because he saved humanity. Some Laws of God given to Moses which govern the Jewish worship was revised because the new religion included the Gentiles to be saved not the Jews only. Jesus accepted anyone to be saved. He doesn't condemn anyone as long as you want to be a member of the church of the true God which is the Catholic Church, Christ mouthpiece of salvation. Jesus proclaim the good news of salvation not to condemn anyone just what as others are doing, condemning anyone who does not agree with their wrong interpretation of the bible by distorting the gospel and replaces the truth with lies.
