Reading JWfacts emails with Zac and Paul Grundy - part 1

My 9 year old son and I reading emails that I receive at JWfacts.com. I read the ones from people expressing deep gratitude for the positive influence the information has had on their life. Zac is reading the abusive ones sent by Jehovah's Witnesses, usually suggesting the information is all lies, or that they cannot wait for Jehovah to destroy me at Armageddon.

I had some misgivings about you involving your son in this at the start but actually, what struck me whilst watching, is how your openness with him contrasts so strongly with how jw children are controlled and NOT exposed to information that conflicts with their belief system. I also found it extremely heartwarming to hear the positive messages from those who have been woken up from the lies and conditioning of WT. You have a wonderful child and obviously a close and honest relationship, that's something to be proud of. Thank you 🌸

Love your work Bridget, I was indoctrinated for 30 years since birth. I'm faded away now, and my parents and older sister shun me ect.. But the local jw's call on me sometimes, and I welcome it, I still like talking to them. I secretly recorded a conversation one Saturday morning where we talked about the wt hypocritical relationship with the United nations, when wt sais we shouldn't go to the ymca ect...The guy hasn't been back, however it was worth it and very fun:)

This is an interesting exercise for your son in understanding the complexities of human thinking and interactions, the good, the bad, and the ugly. As his dad, you’re a buffer and offer your son reassurance that he need not be afraid of negativity and criticisms as he is introduced to things he will be exposed to in the future when you may not be there. This is a life lesson that will serve him well as he gets older and has to face the world on his own terms. PS you should have at least let him read a few positives! Lol

Great job!!! Keep doing. I was so glad that your kids are now far way from JW cult. They will be better in the future because they will free from that dangerous cult. I am rising three kids now and all days before I left the cult I always saying then perspectives differents from what they receive from the cult. Example I convince them that the Goberning Body were not inspire neither receive from God advices, even that they proclaim they are anointed and part of 144000. Imagine then what about the elders. I teach them they are nothing to trust thinking they do not protect children at all (pedophiles). I did my job and now they are doing critical thinking as I did. Thanks God I did not lose my family.

This video is great! It was fun watching you and your son interact about the messages you've received. I was just leaving the religion when my son was about your son's current age. I'm so glad we escaped when we did, well before he ever developed the disease that has so far resulted in two blood transfusions (most likely he will have more in the future). I wouldn't have stopped a transfusion had he needed one, even when we were in the Borg, but he didn't need one until he reached early adulthood. If we were still in the cult, he would have been pressured by the hospital liaison committee to refuse blood, and I don't know what decision he would have made. Had he been in such a situation, he would have either died, or lived with extreme guilt and fear of Armageddon. It's a huge relief to simply accept the treatment he needs. No dilemma. No guilt. Just life.

Zach sincerely displays the attention you give him, along with higher level thinking (unlike the watchtower study questions). Most elders' children are in fact not bright crayolas. You have to be very proud of him.

I just come across your works within a few days ago after waking up only a few years ago. You seem like a genuine meek person with no reason to putting yourself out there like you have nothing better to do in life. I've been in active most of these 55 years I've had a few things that stumbled me the biggest concerning a young baby girl being molested by a 18+ when I was like 13/14 years old. the Father wasn't told due to him being a "weak" witness and the strong possibility that he would have allowed his temper to strangle the pedophile. I also never agreed with the disfellowshipping of a believer by ignoring them even at the meetings. I mean to simply say good to see you or a smile which i always did to my friends or those i cared about, but my father was a jw hater he blamed them for destroying his family and banned them from riding in our station wagon or entering our home. besides the few families that he was friends with their unbelieving fathers that also worked offshore in the oilfields. But I also didn't get the ignoring a believer at the meeting yet meanwhile love bombing these creepy looking new people that who knows what they were capable of? so I believed it was the "truth" but never could dedicate it to myself. I have a huge love of music like Black Sabbath so this was my biggest "downfall". until i found out from John Cedars and other like ExJW Critical Thinker channels about the 2 witness rule all the other issues such as investments into war companies and all the law suits and the trying to use same arguments that the Catholic church uses, which seems like such a big hypocrisy from what is suppose to be God's one true Organization. I mean I agree with some of the questions raised about why are they not having a new light and spending millions not to release the 20k+ name. Must be some of the GB

I am so grateful for the positive letter you read from someone that left the "truth" in 1992 and felt guilty all those years. Me too. I've only been 4 weeks as a non witness now. But I have had many decades of red flags, drunk missionary in the Caribbean that tried to drown my sister and then fling my mom onto her back on the beach. She was never disciplined for being a visible drunk. That was 1972. I was married to an abusive "brother" for over 22 years and all 3 of my children left the "truth." My ex has never been disciplined for his abusive, non support, and finally, punched me in the face on the way to a meeting. I was devastated for years over that. Now I am free as a bird, feel a lot less guilt, etc. I still have pangs of guilt though, when a small handful of friends still strongly believe that Jehovah is using this horrible organization to salvation. My son has shown me Lloyd's channel and that made me understand what's going on. That made me vow to never go back although I cried for a few weeks and almost went insane because of deciding to leave forever. I had felt alone and useless however, I have regained my love for Jehovah and for his word, the bible. I'm married to a wonderful man (a non-witness) who loves me more than anyone ever has.

I was baptize three years ago in the times I was having personal problems. I was very vulnerable and finding solace at anything. But when I started missing the meeting just last year I was beginning to have doubts and my mind just like desensitizing.. I just hope all the borgs satellite of branches even in third world countries be eliminated. The citizen are poor enough and they just want to con them of what little they have. 😭😤

Paul, it would be so much better for you to read the negative comments & allow your child to read the positive comments. However, I truly think the comments are too mature for a child his age. Please reconsider. I am here to read & learn. I am not JW nor have I ever been. I have 1 family member who married into it, so I am trying to better understand her thinking, behavior etc. while we aren’t close, I know little about it. She lives on one coast and my family is on the other coast. Though I love her & her family. I don’t think it’s mutual. Heartbreaking as she is my only sister. Her children are very close with my family which she seems to resent. She is constantly trying to turn me against her children. She has adult children who seem lovely and great with their Gran who they adore.Since divorcing She’s tried to turn the boys against their Gran. Such a heartbreak as the Gran was always wonderful to her. I feel so bad how my sister treats them now, but she treats me the same or worse. From what I observe, I don’t see many happy marriage/families. They seem to have great resentment at the church for being forced to give a lot of time for quick builds. They can’t express it to each other or to the church, so it gets manifested in how they treat their family. It’s been so sad for me. I have done so much to help her when she’s asked.

Dear Paul, this was fun. Your son is very handsome and so sweet. Love the hair! I just wonder if it’s a good idea for him to be reading such hateful, horrible messages. 😢 some of them are really hateful and could be scary to a child his age. I wonder if some of these messages might confuse him or give him nightmares. I hope not but just a thought coming from my maternal, motherly side. Also if these messages are coming from witnesses, where is the love? Wow, I never thought that.. So the organization in third world countries wouldn't die out but will continue even in troubling times. Because the members of third world countries are so eager of paradise and ending their poverty they'll fight tooth and nail to keep their faith. Like us were just middle class member, struggling to stay afloat what little we have my mom generously donates it twice a week! Out of five kids. I and my second sis were the ones who got a college degree. So I guess even though I was baptize I'm still having doubts and insincere thoughts of the teaching

Interesting that the negative comments come from ‘presumably’ the Christlike witnesses of Jehovah, are fouled mouthed, cruel, judgemental and full of hatred. All symptoms of fear and cognitive dissonance, and certainly not the words of happy confident worshipers of a loving god. They are as vengeful and full of malice as he is.

It always shocks me to see how shallow most JWs understanding of their own religion is...they are very good at making claims but have very little substance to support it...just ask any rank and file witness how they know that the year 1914 was the start of the messianic kingdom - and be surprised (the last answer I got was: Because that was when the 2nd (seriously!!!) world war started).
