I know exactly what you're talking about. What you call natural, I call "the flow." I guess one could call it the "natural flow" lol. 😂 Some books jump from thing to thing in a way that is so jarring to the reader. One of the reasons I don't do ARCs is because I did it once, hated the book, and felt bad overall. Never again.

Exactly. I also think that authors decide to write a book that is "insert a number" pages long. When they can't get that, they just start inserting fluff and ramble on and on and on.

I'm 20 chapters in and a bit bored. If the first half is the better then I don't think I can finish😂 I'll look for an online summary

I thought I was the crazy one for not liking it because the initial reviews seemed pretty positive. But now it has a pretty low rating on Goodreads, so I think I'm in the majority now!

How do you sign up for ARCS?

I get mine through NetGalley. I get approved for books since I'm a school librarian, but I think anyone can apply to get them.

Arcs are such a slippery slope 😂

Just finished reading this book. It was a 3.5 star rating for me. Lennon is not married. The author uses the art of persuasion to fill in some of the missing answers... how to explain the college, the atmosphere, true identities. They are whatever the one welding the persuasion power wants you to see/ believe/remember. The students are not typical academic types...hence the drug use and refusal to own up to their short comings. Persuasion can blur reality in many ways. This book is nothing like Harry Potter and should not be compared. The first half of the book is stronger than the 2nd half. The elevators are older models hence no safety open features (if you know you know). In this college you are tested in and outside of the classroom. Stuff just does not happen.

I agree that the first half was stronger. I actually had to force myself to read the second half. Lol. And isn't it funny how everyone's experience reading a book is so different? I appreciate your opinion!
