Hey! Loved your video as an aspiring architecture student. Could you please post your art portfolio and your extracurricular activities that you did?

thank you so much for watching! I did not have an art portfolio when applying to Yale, and my extracurriculars were mostly covered in this video (church, cello, French Honors Society, Asian club at my high school). Let me know if you have any other questions!

hii, I recently got deferred from Yale and I have no idea what to do. Do you recommend writing a LOCI to boost my chances of getting in?

Hi! I was also deferred from Yale EA but at the time I did not write a LOCI... I know there's a lot of advice being thrown at you right now, but I continued applying to other schools and tried to stay positive! Good luck with everything, I know life seems hectic right now :)

I want to become an architect but whenever i open youtube or any online platform, after netsurfing the only thing i think about is will there be money? Will i ever be successful with what i m gonna do? Do u ever had thoughts about these? Like did u ever get depressed that u did so much hard work but u wouldn’t be paid as much as doctors or engineers get paid? Or am i thinking wrong or smthing…

Hi! I think these kinds of thoughts are completely normal, and something that I discuss with my architecture friends often. Something that could be comforting is that you don't have to be an architect if you study architecture! I know many people who study architecture end up in furniture design, graphic design, jewelry design, fashion, product management, UI/UX, etc. It's a field of study that teaches you great skills that are transferable. Also, people I know who are architects truly love what they do. At the end of the day, architecture is a lot of problem solving and working with people from all walks of life. The pay is not as high as some of the other professions you listed, but I guess it is more a question of what you want to prioritize in your life :)

An hour long interview?!

Yes! It definitely varies from interviewer to interviewer (and the college you’re applying to), but usually it’s 30 min-1 hour!
