Summer is nearing its end in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley, and after months of hurdles and obstacles, the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway is back in action. To mark the return to operation, the Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad sent their iconic ex- Gulf, Mobile & Northern Baldwin-built 4-6-2 "Pacific" #425 north to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania to haul multiple weekends of excursions through the Lehigh Gorge up to Old Penn Haven along the Lehigh River. Jim Thorpe, formerly known as Mauch Chunk, is seeing bustle once again, after months of the Coronavirus keeping businesses closed and travelers home, with uncertainty of an end. Thankfully, the trains that draw tourists to the old railroad town have returned, and passengers awaited their chance to ride behind the 425. This video was filmed on September 5th, 6th and 7th, 2020.
Whistles were a B&O 3 chime on the 5th, Southern Long Bell 3 on the 6th, and Star Brass 3 on the 7th.

Great work, that has to be the most fulfilling journey from Jim Thorpe to Old Penn Haven I've ever seen through the lens. The abstract tid bits at 12:25 and 19:25 are great additions.

It’s upsetting how mainline steam excursion operations aren’t like this anymore, not even on Amtrak, Norfolk Souther or CSX. Wish they will just come back to life under steam again in the future!

Nice work Chad! Love the cab ride footage, and talk about a great location to mount the GoPro! I've never seen anyone pull that off before! Of course all the trackside stuff was spectacular as always, especially the shot from way up by the power lines!

For this weekend of trips, she sported a Baltimore & Ohio "Tumor Top" 3 Chime, a Southern Railway PS-4 3 Chime and a Union Pacific Star Brass 3 Chime.

@@MPT_Productions what was the whistle on the bridge at 3:24 - 3:40, is it the southern railway ps4 long bell 3 chime? It sounds like the whistle Florida east coast railway 148 used when it pulled the blue comet excursions in new Jersey in 1975
