As someone who's been with one piece since it originally started airing, it's always great to see new people feel this way about something that has personally influenced much of my life. I grew up with luffy and the straw hats. I'm glad you'll be with us to see the end. You nailed the last point. I'm actually looking forward to it ending so I can look back and smile at the entire journey. I was once asked "what if it turned out the one piece was nothing", and I quickly realized that doesn't matter. I spent time with fictional character I damn near consider my friends.

I only started one piece this year and I have to say it’s changed me a lot… I was kinda depressed for years and it wasn’t until I found one piece it finally changed me. Waiting for the next chapter each week (when there isn’t a break of course) is so exciting especially when it leaves on a cliffhanger one piece will forever be my savour and I will always look to it as a sort of inspiration Also, my grades in school have increased a lot ever since I started it because I am finally starting to believe in myself and define what it truly means to fail and I’ll do better next time, it’s so easy to say but so hard to bring into reality and one piece taught me that through especially through the war arc (Basically all the arcs in one piece have played a part in it) :D (Btw I read the manga and watch the anime and how did I end up watching it? I started watching it cause I got bored and wanted to see what the hype was about… changed my life forever, the time I started watching it was around chapter 1040-1050 in the manga) Great vid btw!!! Edit: and yes I finished it within 3 months or so and I have caught up to the manga, so excited for chap 1065!!

I don't think I've seen it put this way before and I watch a lot of impressions and reviews for One Piece. You inspire me to change the way I see and experience things too. "A man dies when he is forgotten" This quote of one piece really hooked me back then. Coz at some point of my life depression strucked me and still has it going into me deep inside. Neglection and rejection surrounds me. It bugged me at some point.... but can't do it bcoz I might be forgotten and wants to breathe and still fighting till someone like Luffy might come and save me. Please don't make it end Oda. This is the only friend I have right now. I still want to fight. I still want to live.
@Kimch872 жыл бұрын
The best thing Oda has done, is to tell us that One Piece is a real object and not just the clichéd "it was the journey and friends we made along the way." Therefore we can actually focus on and enjoy the journey (and friends we made along the way) knowing that we will not be cheated out of the end goal. There will be alot of mera storytelling that is pure genius and something that could not have been done if the manga wasn't as long as it is, but telling what it is would be spoilers and you should discover everything by yourself.

I have been reading one piece since the beginning of 2020 and caught up midway through that year thanks to the pandemic. I have also read a lot of book before and after that, but honestly, nothing more has ever been unconsciously in grained in my brain, than the lessons taught in One Piece. Only after reading one piece, that I have started laughing in dire/serious situations. Trying to make things light and easier to deal with. While I do that, I haven't taken light of these situations. And I noticed that only after you mentioned that in the video. I joined my college at the end of 2020, and made many new friends. The thing that I never did before. I am the guy who always cracks jokes, and my friends laugh at them(at least most of the time) I hope you get caught up pretty quick and get to enjoy even more!!!

I'm kind of torn about one piece I am someone who has been watching and reading since practically day 1 when it came to the States yes 4 kids actually got me into it and I was about like 6 or 7 years old, but I'm so glad that I stuck on, but at the same time I'm jealous of new 1 piece fans who get to experience all these awesome moments at just a break neck pace compared to what I did. I mean I can't tell you how broken I was when luffy fought ussop or Ace dying or even brooks backstory. I love seeing people "discover" it and see them react to moments that I had to painstakingly explain to my family how cool it was. Though, the reason I'm torn is because it's on its final saga and I know that without it, it'll feel like I lost something, but people (or stories) don't die when they end, they die when they're forgotten.

On your point of the story being about the journey not the destination, a good way ive heard it expressed is that One Piece isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. The finish line is definitely an exciting part, but when you think about a marathon you usually think about the journey there.

Growing up I was one of those kids who would always shit on One Piece because I was big on Naruto and Bleach, also the 4kids version left a bad impression on me. I decided to give it a try in 2020 and I’m glad I did as an adult because I probably wouldn’t truly understand some of themes that took place. I started the anime a episode a day and then by the time I got the Nami’s backstory I fell in love with the series. As the series went on I kept falling more in love with and before I knew it 3 months later I caught up to the anime and then the manga. I didn’t realize how how invested I was in the characters and the world building. It’s definitely now my favorite of the big 3 and some of the best if piece of fiction I’ve ever read or watched.

@colonylaser4860 Жыл бұрын
I can understand how OP could bring us back to our childhood, but I contend that it hits just as hard as an adult. I read the Harry Potter when it first came out; I was in my 40s but just couldn't go beyond Book 1. I knew I had past the age the book is good for. The same goes with Lord of the Rings even though I'd loved it as a kid. I'm just way too cynical as an adult; the same goes for the classics like Dickens, Kipling, Dumas, Robertson, most of whom I now found to be pompous, boring, if not downright racist. One Piece on the other hand, while I wish I could have read that when I was 14, but in the 20+ years I've been reading that in 3 languages, I never once felt I was beyond the target age. I could not get cynical with this story! I'm certain it'll continue to pummel me each time when I re-read it into my 90s, a 100 even if I'm still alive. Just thinking all new stories based on incidental characters after the main story concludes, by fans or in canon, they could be doing the next 100 years gives me goosebumps. Pulitzer, Nobel Prize? They can have all that and Shakespeare on top and I wouldn't give a damn. But One Piece? No comparison.

My life has never been the same all thanks to him, Isaac Netero, and Frog from Little Bear (or, my sister. I am literally not making those other two up, tho.
