I think one thing that makes the arc system of one peice work is partly that the arcs are based on location first rather than plot. They're not ABOUT the straw hats 'doing a thing', they're about going to a new place an exploring it and the issues going on in that place, and it allows the series to feel more naturally segmented because of that.
@IricAlexis2 жыл бұрын
yup, but with only that, most of that kind of story will trapped as: 1. it's often could be feels like useless or have no direction; but in OP, the adventure is not without purpose or end, it's the whole main point of straw-hats objective to find what they dream for trough the end of their adventures. 2. having a little or no correlation; but in OP... other than straw-hats main objective, there is a whole grand scheme of thing, bigger than the straw-hats it self, something that only mentioned once/happen in here could be huge in the latter part, there is very little useless adventure, there is always dot to connect either for character progression, or whole bigger plot info. this is what make One Piece feels as whole and complete instead purely segmented from island to island story only.
@slibiditanu2 жыл бұрын
@@IricAlexis exactly, and during the pre plot parts of the arc, its not boring, its the part that showcases the strawhats character foils and personalities, it shows the unique characters in a fun yet not completely boring way, sneaking in a little lore every few episodes just to keep you hooked, like for example post water seven/enies lobby, garp just drops the mf yonko system out of nowhere

You hit the nail on the head with the line about wholesome. We're in the last saga, which could last for 3 to 6 years based in all the things that are yet to happen in the future. As far as a highly likely theory, we're 70 chapters away from reaching the One Piece, plus whatever happens after that related to the world government, revolutionaries, kurohige... Then there's the final war, which will be huge and Marineford will be small compared to it. Marineford lasted for 31 chapters, and it wasn't really a fight where any of the Mugiwaras got time to really shine at all. I'd say 200+ more chapters is an amout pretty likely to happen. We'll get set up, resolution to some arcs, and proper development and ending to tons of stories that Oda hasn't closed yet. Everything is speculative though, as far as I know.

Also, it escapes that "main character fights the big enemy, gets defeated, train and come back again to win". In One Piece, the fights are decided there, there are no loses and come backs. This eventually happens, but has some strong meaning and are necessary for the story telling, not a resource to fill lack of creativity.

In my opinion(Even though you already seem to like it) getting to arlong park is the definitive way to test your compatibility to the show. It’s a fantastic arc but what sets it apart is the emotional points it hits and when people care about the characters themselves as if they were real life people is when they truly understand how powerful Oda’s writing truly is
@bpggeneral8362 жыл бұрын
i agree arlong park should be the point to reach to see if you can fully get in to the show or not

You can see every character's growth during the show... even those that show up for a little bit earlier, and again way later on, the show does a good job depicting how they've grown, or at least changed in a way or another. Except for Zoro's sense of direction... that's hopeless
@saraelys55682 жыл бұрын
That's it ! Every little character, even if you don't remember them or they appear really early in the story, every one ! None of them is forgotten ! You can be sure we will have news of them later ! It's one of the many charms of this story ! And Zoro wouldn't be Zoro if he was able to not get lost ! 🤣

its wonderful how you already have so many thoughts on the series and youre only TEN episodes in!! im honestly a bit jealous of people who get to watch/read one piece for the first time as an adult, bc when i was a child and started watching the series after school randomly, i didnt think about the philosophies of the characters, or the dichotomy of good and evil in a series where the main characters are teeechnically the villains(/rude freelancers) of the world, but in the last few years ive thought so much about what makes one piece my fave piece of media ever. and you already spoke about one of them: one piece's world feels GIGANTIC and so well thought out (bc it is), everything makes sense in a weird way, going from place to place doesnt feel contrived, and im not constantly wondering, as i have been in other shonen series: "what the hell is the rest of the world doing??" you know? like when in shonen series (at least the ones youre meant to take seriously), the bad guys will blow up half of a city in japan or in a fictional world, and you think "did literally no other city/country/whatever see this? is this not a fucking huge deal that would result in the whole world wanting to know what the fuck happened??" bc in one piece, we KNOW what the whole world looks like (of course more details are revealed as you watch, but like - youre 10 episodes in and you already know the basic structure of the whole planet, its so cool), so it never feels like "what s the rest of the world doing?" and more like "i wonder when we'll get to see the rest of the world" and i love that SO much!

OP release year was the year that I'm born(I am honor to btw), and I heard alot about this anime since kid,then to more grown kid then middle school year come,my friends always tell me to watch OP lol but that time me myself think that, wait this anime had been long run since I was born, and it seems like haven't reach to end yet,so why not keep it until final saga came out then I watch slowly until catch to the end right? so yeah after 23 years, which is now I started watch OP (currently at fishman island arc ahaha) and I will, catching up slowly and peacefully till the end of chapter (well if oda want to end it of course lmao) but I hears that final saga begins now so that's great cause I make a good timing to watch HAHAHA p.s : sorry for my long story well I'm a bit talkative too irl

I found it much easier to read the manga. Although, I must admit actually hearing voices and seeing dynamic movement adds to the feel of One Piece in a way that cannot be described with words. I read up to Punk Hazard when I was a teen and stopped for some reason, but I can't remember why. I left it for a while until I found out that they were getting very close to chapter 1000 and decided I wanted to catch up before they got there. They were on chapter 992. Since I knew pre time skip so well, I decided to start right after it; chapter 598. I caught up in just under 3 weeks. At that speed I probably could have done the whole thing in time. I didn't start watching the anime weekly until they were at episode 1015. Of course, I saw 1000 when it premiered, but I didn't have time to keep up. After 1015 I went back and downloaded each episode, 1 by 1 since the torrents for full arcs were massive and my internet is shit. Took ages, but I got em all. I'm now currently caught up in both. When you finally see 1015, you'll know why. The story and detail, among other things, are on another level. If you have enjoyed it this much in only 10 episodes, my boy, you are in for the ride of your life. Cherish your time with the Straw Hats because you only get to experience it for the first time once. I envy you.

I also have a problem with remembering who everyone is. But One Piece? Easy. That’s that one mud guy with the long tongue. That’s the swan slap villain that is actually totally a hero! Weird blonde woman with tea and white hat. Ugly brother of Sabo. Weird old guy that lives in Luffy’s home village.

“A generous 10 episodes” is usually a very, very fair attempt at a series. The thing here is, the first 100 episodes are more or less a prologue to the rest of the story to come. If you’re already this interested after just 10 eps, you’re in for a hell of a ride. 👌🏽
