I appreciate this review of Babel. It encompasses my feelings exactly. It isn’t bashing the book or belittling it. Just pointing out where it might have failed and how it had a great intent but didn’t succeed for you (or me) in the way it does for other people. Thanks for the video

Beautiful beach! So sorry you didn't like Babel. I gave it 5 stars. I was impressed by the amount of research Kuang put into that book. I love the deep dive into linguistics. I loved Robin's struggle with who he thinks he is, what he stands for, and how violence changes him. I loved the characters. This story made me cry. I loved the footnotes. I was just so intrigued and didn't want to put it down. I think people who are into alternate history, sociology, and descriptive writing style would like Babel.

I do want to put the effort in to rereading This Is How You Lose the Time War! 🙋🏼‍♀️It requires some thinking when you’re readingbut so worth it and also you can just read the beautiful writing and enjoy the ride 🥹

It wasn’t my favorite Emily Henry book, but it was so good. I love falling in love with characters while they fall in love, and she does that so well. She also creates real characters that feel well-rounded.

I have not read Babel, but from what I have heard, most people are expecting a 'dark academia, secret society' book, but are also disappointed. At one point I wanted to read it (probably because of the hype and the description) but after so many reviews saying the same thing, I have changed my mind.
