Even watching this KZbin video , different areas of the brain are activated including: sensory system ( vision, audiction), attention ( pre frontal cortex, hippocampus, anterior cingulate gyrus, reticular activating system ) language e interpretation ( broca' s area and Wernicke's area), etc... All those areas are activate almost at same time and work in synchrony to produce what we call as perception, interpretation , learning and a active action about that information or experience that we captured. And he do that in a less than one second ( a few milliseconds ) Our brain 🧠 is amazing.

Watched your video. Couldn't find what is there in reading than the person cannot get from other sources. The fact that the brain gets better in something with practice is the obvious. Strengthening the brain regions of reading just for the sake of it - has no adventage.

I think it's great to encourage reading and how the brain has plasticity. Question: If Americans are busy working 2 or 3 jobs, when do they have time to read?
@katiaassuncao765321 күн бұрын
Unfortunately, for the most is true but because reading is an activity that can bring to us benefits on social interaction or human relationships , we should when we can read a little bit. Even one page per day or sometimes will make a difference in long term.
@Neuroscience21 күн бұрын
That's a very good question as many of us are so busy that finding time to read can be difficult. However, with tech advances such as the ubiquity of cell phones, I think it could well be possible to spend a little "down time" reading digital materials, even things like looking over a news feed for five minutes could help.

@@Neuroscience Thank you ☺️ It's also one of the many tools that I use to learn a little bit more, whenever I can. Today improving our interactions skills and improving our level of knowledge in more developed countries is much more accessible and easy that in the past. There is a lot of important , available, useful and free information and one of main tasks that we have to do is learn how to select credible from the ones that aren't. After is only enjoy the process of learning and after apply the knowledge acquired in our life.

It's kind of hilarious that the audio portion of this video is an AI reading the text in the video to us. I'm also not quite sure what area in the anterior temporal lobe is being referred to. As far as I know, the anterior temporal is associated with auditory processing. Broca's area, in the left frontal lobe, is associated with speech production, and Wernicke's area, associated with language comprehension, is located in the posterior temporal lobe.

It's good that more the science progress, more technology we have available to help us and assist on our studies and research. But like we know, we always have to check the credibility of the sources. And between all this technology support ,we have the AI too☺️

The language and the reading has in common, share or activate some of the same of processing centers of information in the brain.

The reading process involve the integration of various areas or circuits related with language and sensory system ( vision and hearing ). During a reading , the brain active the regions responsible for the language, vision and association. Like is mentioned in the video, on the left side of the brain, behind the hears , the reading is activated. The brain reading process occurs by 2 pathways: 1) phonological path that transform the letters in mental sounds and 2) the lexical path that is linked with words meaning.
@katiaassuncao765317 күн бұрын
When we read the occipital ( to see) and temporal cortex are activated for we recognise the meaning of the words. The frontal cortex is activated for remember the mental sound of the words that we read. The evoked memories caused by the reading activate the hippocampus and the medial temporal lobe. The description with emotional elements for the reader activate the limbic system. And the reasoning about the content and his meaning activate the pré- frontal cortex and the work memory.

I wonder if audiobooks effect the brain similarly. Or is there something special about visual and text?
@Neuroscience20 күн бұрын
Someone else bought this up earlier. Different neural pathways and brain areas, such as the auditory and visual cortex, would be affected. It would be interesting to see how listening to audiobooks affects the brain versus reading a book.
