Very interesting and illuminating! I have made a decision some years ago not use reversals - it was even before I started using TdM. I just don't seem to click with them (maybe it will change some day, who knows? We all change all the time). I also see the swords as pointing up - the ace is the template for me here and on the ace the sword is up, so for me this would be the upright position :) Best, Magdalena (from a new account).

Yes, exactly, I go back and forth on reversals (ha!) but they do affect visual flow, and right now I find that kind of fun to play with :)

I have used reversals since the beginning. It feels super natural to me, and I love the visual dance of the cards, that some come upside down. And I even show them to the querent, so they too can see (even not understanding the meaning of the card) where the unbalance is. I find that all cards always upright so limiting. I know the meanings are the same, but visually it is just so boring! 😄 So in my TdM decks that are symmetrical up and down, I draw a line underneath the illustration so mark the upright postion. I use the same colour as the deck, so the line blends in and doesn't destroy the artwork.

I would go with point up on all swords. The pointy swords are on active (odd numbers) so logically I'd go with the active point up on the active numbers if I used reversals.

When I got my Dodal deck, out of the box the 3 of cups pointed up and the 3 of coins pointed down. It looked to me (cups) if 2 people got together they produced a baby but you invest one coin the two above being interest or dividends expanding the amount. I hadn't seen that before.

That's an interesting perspective, yes :)
