Taking a closeup look at the Reading class T-1 #2124 on display in the parking area at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It was originally built in 1924 by Baldwin Locomotive Works as a 2-8-0 (Consolidation class #2044) and was reconfigured by Reading Company as a 4-8-4 Northern in January 1947. It primarily hauled coal trains until being retired in 1956, but it was saved and put back into service in October 1959 for passenger services for the Iron Horse Rambles. It was displayed at the Bellow Falls, Vermont Steamtown until it was moved to Scranton's Steamtown during the winter of 1983-84. It received a cosmetic restoration in 2019 and also had its asbestos insulation removed.
