I've read a lot of Brom's books, honestly Slewfoot is far and away his best book, if the premise still sounds interesting to you it might be worth trying. I haven't heard anyone give a good review of Dearest. I was really surprised by how creepy I ended up finding Incidents around the House, usually books don't scare me (movies are a different story) but that one I had to stop reading in the dark at one point.

I'll be waiting is the one I was eyeing on this list - I may have to check it out with your review :) dearest is moving down my priority list... sad... but motherhood isn't a big theme for me... William was a disappointment for me which is sad (I think the feeling of disconnect made sense with the reveals, but... still wanted to be engaged) and agree on Sacrificial Animals too

Wow that's a lot of books 😅Surprised the Stephen King wasn't on the list. I had the same journey with William, I felt so removed from it but then I loved the ending and it made the tone make more sense, but I still didn't love more than half of the book! So I also gave it 3.5. I had I'll Be Waiting in the very depths of my want to read list, but I'm really intrigued by it now as a Darcy fan. I think you could possibly like Slewfoot if you liked Year of the Witching? It's actually pretty character focused and not super weird. And the illustrations are really cool. If you want to try Ronald Malfi again, I think Come with Me is his best writing. It's more of a slow burn suspense than outright horror but I was just SO intrigued by it.

I liked youthjuice a lot more than Natural Beauty.. I read it from the library and will be purchasing a copy for my collection. Still need to read Rouge too so I can compare to that too. 😊
