Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey was certainly influenced by The Castle Of Otranto.

i was reading this book called "Monster, She Wrote" (nonfiction) and it said that Jane Austen mocked some gothic literature in that book (northanger abbey). it's a parody of them. it seems like she wasn't a huge fan of the gothic literature. "Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey is widely considered as a parody of the Gothic novel, especially Gothic novels written by Ann Radcliffe. Those kinds of novels were extremely popular at the time when Austen was writing Northanger Abbey, especially among young women." when wasn't jane austen talking shit though??? never not talking shit
