Thank you for sharing our well wishes with him. I am glad our words were able to reach him. I greatly appreciate everything that Roy Smith did for this community. Through his channel he was invited into homes around the World. I was thrilled that I got to speak with Roy through You Tube and outside of it. It was an honor that I got to see him in person and thank him personally for promoting my channel when I first started on You Tube. I have been working on a building for my layout this week. I will be making it Roy Smith's Hobby Store and Panama Treasures. I am truly sorry for Roy and his wife's passing. My condolences for the entire family and my thoughts and prayers for healing through the loss of both of them from middle Tennessee.

I have received so many wonderful comments from dad's fans in the model railroad community, it's hard to talk about them all. But recently this one from Dominik was very touching: "Hey man, I'm no railroad enthusiast but I stumbled upon your dad's videos and they really got me interested in the hobby. He showed me that you don't have to be an extremely talented artist to make a imaginative world out of some styro, cork and paint (although that probably helps) but that you can achieve it with alot of patience and attention to detail. Your dad really shows the joys of the hobby and the process of tinkering with a model like that beautifully. I wish him and your family all the best, at least he is home now. Best of luck to you all."

My dad is still battling brain cancer, and has recently lost his wife from a tragic household accident, as well. Please continue to pray for him through these sad and challenging times. Here's a video of some of the many comments from friends and fans around the world that we read to him in April. ‪@n-scaleunionpacificevansto6569‬ kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHq0l4t5psmbpK8

Update 7/26/2024: I'm adding the following comment (copy & pasted from Dad's Facebook page), and making this video public, so more of his friends and fans can find it. "Hi all. Sorry I haven't been able to post any update on dad's condition recently. I've seen a few messages from friends asking about him, unfortunately there's just not been much to update. Dad was in the ICU in Panama for nearly two months. Through most of that time he was intubated and asleep / sedated. He battled infections and received a blood transfusion as well as additional different types of chemo medication. The few times he was awake his wife said he would look at her and move his lips, but was unable to speak. I can imagine few prisons worse than the frustration of feeling like you're "talking" but no sound is coming out. 😭 After spending nearly two months in ICU he finally went home on June 21. His wife has been by his side constantly, praying and singing to him to provide comfort. She said since coming home he's been able to speak a few words, but not much more than "yes or no" responses. My wife and I went to our local railroad festival recently. Met many nice people and talked for a while. It was bittersweet, as this railroad festival was always one of dad's favorite things to do when he was up here visiting us. Here's a picture of dad and Leonor on the excursion train at the event last year, and a link to his video from June 2023 when we all went. Watching this, it's hard to believe it was only a year ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKeymJaMdth5prM I love seeing dad's comments in this video about getting rid of our cars and turning our garage into a layout (ha!) and the pictures and messages from his friends, many who've reached out to support dad through this difficult time. Thank you, all. 🙏🙏"
