So, I just picked up an 09 colorado 2.9 5 speed with 26k original on it. No matter what mine does not crank when it acts up ---- the passlock light has flashed while no crank and has been on steady with no crank. Sometimes the 10 minute wait worked...sometimes just playing with the key worked. Does both manual and automatic turn over when passlock is active? I assumed a manual will not even crank. Anyway I snipped the wire under the dash (while it was running) thought it was good for 2 days, then out of nowhere....It still randomly does not start. I have an ignition switch assembly coming from amazon.
@CompTechMike17 сағат бұрын
Hi! Thanks for checking out my video. Passlock affects the fuel system, so I imagine it would be similar on both automatic & manual transmission vehicles. I don't see many manual Colorado's; Maybe different mechanism, but conceptually the same thing. In any case, it sounds like you're on the right track. Replacing the ignition switch should resolve the issue. Of course, my thinking is that an ignition switch can always fail again, so having a tune to disable Passlock ("VATS_delete") is the only sure way to make sure it will never be an issue again. But hopefully the new ignition switch will solve the issue for the remainder of the life of the vehicle for you. 😊 Good luck!

i have a problem where if i move the microphone it wont pick up my voice and i have to move it like 5 times to get it to work again how do i fix it
@CompTechMike5 күн бұрын
Hi! Thanks for checking out my video. Tough to say without seeing it, but it sounds like you have a bad connection or a damaged wire. I'd start by disassembling and cleaning all connections with something like an electrical contact cleaner or high grade isopropyl alcohol. Put everything back together, make sure all contacts are clean and tight. You can also test with another device to confirm the issue (e.g., if it's a desktop PC microphone, try it on another PC). If you you still have a problem with the microphone cutting off when you wiggle it, you may have a damaged wire. Sometimes these can be repaired by soldering but honestly, a lot of consumer electronics are not designed with "repairability" in mind anymore. It may be cheaper to replace the device. But I'd check all connectors, first. Good luck!

Hi Mike, thanks for this video. We are a couple aged 67 and we consider the 25 vs the 30 foot versions. Considering the driving difficulty which you mention at the end of your video, which size would you recommend?
@CompTechMike19 күн бұрын
Hi! Thanks for checking out my Cruise America walk-through videos. We've rented both the 25' and 30' vehicles multiple times. Just off-the-cuff, my opinion would be that the 25' version gets better mileage, but its floorplan is worse (you have to climb over the other person to get out of bed, and the bathroom is tighter and doesn't have as much headroom). The 30' model is harder to pull into tight spaces (especially crowded gas stations), and doesn't get as good gas mileage, but it's a lot heavier - doesn't get buffeted by wind like the 25' one does, and also has a lot more power (owing to the V10 engine compared to the V8 in the 25' model). Just be prepared to pull into the furthest away gas pump when fueling up so you don't get yourself "stuck". With all that said, personally we much prefer the 30' model. The extra space, especially not having to climb over the other person to get out of bed, is really nice. And the extra power has come in handy, especially on trips to the mountains. If this is your first time renting and you don't have much experience driving larger vehicles you might want to start with the smaller of the two. But going back to what you said at the beginning of your comment - you're both 67 - do you really want to climb over your partner to get out of bed? That's my thoughts, anyway, and why I would recommend the 30' model. I also have a newer video, here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5OloHRmrZp5pdk Safe travels!

Thank you for this video. I too refused to install the cheesy setup for a magnetic antenna haphazardly plopped onto the roof or dash. I ordered the adapter you used; however, I do not see how that will work. (I am paused on project awaiting a different adapter) You show you used a male adapter going into the lead the goes to the factory tuner. How does that connect to the antenna? Would not the male connector side (lead going to the right and "finger traced" going upward into the A pillar be the side to use? Maybe I am missing something. I'll let you know after I get a different (female) adapter form Amazon. Thank you again for a detailed video. It is exactly my project.
@CompTechMike21 күн бұрын
Hi! Yes, this is correct. I was able to use the existing factory (roof-mounted) satellite radio antenna with the SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner by using an antenna adapter. The factory tuner is removed. Crutchfield could not recommend an adapter, it was only piece shown in this video that did not come from them. I actually wound up ordering 10 different adapters from Amazon. I ordered literally everything that sounded like it had even the slightest chance of fitting, and then returned every single one that didn't work, LOL. Thank you, Amazon, for your generous return policy. 😆 You can see the adapters at 7:14 minute mark And the one that fit at 7:23 minute mark. I thankfully included a picture of the package, so you can get the part number off it. You have to watch where I talked about it starting at 7:44 minute mark. Hope this helps! 😊

@@CompTechMike Thank you for your quick reply. I did not find the door leading to the tuner. I can peek at it from the right side of the HU cavity. It is nestled close to the airbag. I have a 2012 model. That section above the glove box appears to be a solid piece. I do not see the clips as you show. I bought the same adapter as you show...male. I have a female ordered for quick delivery. My "current plan" is to simply leave the original factory tuner nestled in its comfy niche. I intend to use the lead that appears to go direct to antenna.
@CompTechMike21 күн бұрын
@@larryclark8410 hi again! As long as it's completely disconnected, leaving the factory tuner in its "comfy niche" should be fine. Personally I used that space to mount the replacement SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner. As long as you have another place to mount that hardware, you should be fine. You may need a different wiring adapter, however. It sounds like they changed things between my '07 and your '12. The adapter I used only worked in my specific application because I'd removed the factory tuner. So you'll probably want to trace those wires, and connect using an appropriate adapter for your truck. Good luck, let me know how it goes! 😊

@CompTechMikeАй бұрын
Hi Austin! Thanks for checking out my video. I try to avoid posting direct links since the parts I used may be different than what you'd need for your vehicle. Things like the wiring harness, adapters, and SiriusXM receiver may all be different depending on which radio and configuration you have currently in your vehicle, and I don't want to steer someone wrong (or leave links that may be expired or direct to the wrong products). That said, nearly everything shown in this video (with the exception of one satellite radio antenna adapter) came from Crutchfield. I'd recommend contacting their customer service and tell them exactly what vehicle you have and what you're looking for. Here's a list of everything I used in this video for my 2007 Colorado: - Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX - SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner - Metra 40-GM10 antenna adapter (this is for the regular FM antenna) - Metra 95-2001 dash kit (black) - Axxess AX-GMCL2 wiring interface (this is so you can keep your door chimes) - Crutchfield ReadyHarness service (they'll assemble a "plug & play" harness for you - makes installation easier) The USB dash mount adapter from Amazon: "PAC Audio USBDMA3 3 Ft. What about temperature control in the garage. My garage is freezing cold. I’m assuming I’d have to install some insulation in order for it to not be too cold in the winter time?
@CompTechMikeАй бұрын
Hi! Thanks for checking out my video. Yes, you are correct, you'll probably want to install some insulation to keep animals comfortable. Obviously that will vary depending on your budget and construction of your garage. I "went all out" on mine. It has heat, a mini-split air conditioner, and the garage is fully insulated in the walls and ceiling with household-quality insulation materials. We even added radiant barrier in the attic to further prevent it from getting too hot in there in summer. That said, cats are remarkably tolerant of temperature changes. Just bringing them in the garage can be a big change in their lives, if the ones you're caring for are normally outdoor / stray cats. A box with some straw and a roof over their heads would probably be a welcome improvement in the wintertime. 😻

@CompTechMikeАй бұрын
Hi Milos! The power button on this model is part of a small circuit board which contains other components, including the front USB ports and lights. It connects to the inside of the front of the case and then back to the motherboard via a ribbon cable. If your button is broken, my recommendation would be to replace this entire board. You'll probably need to remove the current one to match the exact part number. They're usually pretty cheap on sites like eBay and Amazon. I'm sure you could desolder the button and replace just that, but honestly you're just making more work for yourself (imo). Good luck, whichever you decide!
