Persephone is such a great symbolic name for mama cat. In mythology, Persephone was abducted and brought to the underworld by Hades and rescued by her mother, Demeter. Mama cat went through hell as a neglected cat and was rescued by you, her new mom. Love the names Charlie and Harry Houdini for the boy kittens. All the choices of name for girl kitty are great. Our previous cat, Henry, I used to describe as really smart in some ways but also dumb as a box of rocks in other ways, so I've developed a soft spot for Charlie, who sounds like him.

Persephone (Perséfone in portuguese) is my cat name! But I choose this name because she's a black cat and she killed all the plants on my house and I thought that is a funny irony.

After they grown up, they mostly just sleep, so is super chill. Cats are very low maintenance because they're very independent, as long as the food bowl is full and the bathroom clean, you're good to go. ♥

I have 3 black cats and this is reminding me of them as kittens 😻. Also, as someone with that many cats, once they are all spayed/neutered and get a little older, they will calm down and it won't feel like having that many animals. Plus, I have found when they are all from the same litter they are super cute together and don't try to fight for dominance.

That's good to hear! I'm honestly so relieved that I have found someone for the kittens. I was really worried about the boys spraying or getting their mom/sister pregnant 😭 So far they tend to nap a couple of hours a day so I think it will get a bit worse but then get better lol

I was diagnosed with celiac disease when I turned 36. I’m 37 now. I ended up going to a doctor who wasn’t my primary doctor and he immediately said, I think it’s celiac and got me in for the colonoscopy/endoscopy with biopsy. Low and behold, celiac. My advice is to try a new doctor if this one won’t take you serious or move you forward to see a specialist.

In Canada, you don't really get to 'see another doctor '. You are either lucky to have a family doctor (and be tied to the hip with them), or you are just out to sea in the world of walk in clinics and no follow up or serious care.

@@BookswithEmilyFox they will calm a little as they get older. You are in the full kitten mode right now lol. Also I don't know how it works in Canada, but you may want to look into pet insurance. Like health insurance for cats and dogs. I know in the US it can be useful for vet costs.

Wow I can so relate to the celiac story. Gluten free for almost six months. Huge improvements. There is a blood test that can check for antibodies. Best wishes!! And the kittens are so adorable!!

Yeah you should keep all of them, i have 4 cats and 1 dog and they definitely changed my life for good. As they grow up they become little bit more calmed. Just the right amount to keep you busy and entertained. Haha.

Celiac tests are like $100 in Ontario. Very easy to get blood test which your GP should have suggested getting done first. Also, keep them all :)

For future vaccines for the cats, you could look into vaccination clinics that happen at pet stores! Vet offices often charge a $50 assessment fee for vaccine appts bc they do a quick exam of the pet before giving shots to make sure they aren’t sick before getting vaccinated and then they charge you for that on top of the price of the shots. However, discount vaccination clinics at pet stores don’t charge you the extra fee even though the vet also does a quick exam prior to vaccinating. We have four pets too and have found this is a great way to save money and still keep them healthy!

I've been in a very similar situation with a stay cat giving birth to 3 kitties on my doorstep and they're now 2 months old! The kitties are so cute, they will calm down as they get older! I got my 2 littermates as kittens and to this day, they play together, groom each other, and I don't worry about them being too lonely when I'm away (or my house getting destroyed because they keep each other entertained instead). I think by 6 months they were noticeably calmer and just got chiller from there. I hope you are able to keep all 4! I joined your Patron to support both your amazing content and the kitty family 🥰

My husband is celiac and has never been formally diagnosed because he refuses to eat gluten to get the tests. It sucks, but it’s pretty easy to deal with and avoid gluten in general for him 😊

Vets are greedy and horrible these days. My dog has some issues heart,thyroid,arthritis etc. his meds ,prescription food, supplements cost me more than anything else in my budget. It’s horrible. So I've also been dealing GI issues for almost 2 years now and both my endoscopy and test for celiac came back negative. So now I'm onto a new test for SIBO, which I'm pretty convinced I have. Might want to ask your doctor about testing for that as well! Not eating wheat/gluten will also temporarily relieve symptoms if you have SIBO bc you're starving the bacteria of simple carbs/sugar, but as I've learned, they always come back. Just another thing to consider if you feel like the symptoms fit you!

@@BookswithEmilyFox I was debating very heavily on only keeping three but I kept putting finding a home for her off and then I just couldn’t do it - I’m not a huge fan of the kitten stage, way too much energy and destructiveness but once they hit one years old they all settled down a lot and it kind of just worked out. I am at my absolute max catwise though lol. Everyone calls my house the “cat cafe” - they come for tea and the cats. But do what feels right for you, I struggle with guilt so it’s hypocritical of me to say this but don’t feel guilty if you need to rehome some of them, it’s a lot for one person and they were the result of someone else’s neglect so it’s not your responsibility to keep all of them. Don’t over stretch or exert yourself, even just keeping big mama is enough x

I rehomed a kitty to a friend a few years ago. Regretted it immediately and went back to get her the next day. Luckily my friend understood and was happy to be a special “Aunt” after that. Keep the little family together.

Since you're considering keeping them, this might help you. Your kittens, once they reach 1 year old, they'll be less rowdy and playful. Unless, they are curious type of cat, but usually kittens mellow down once they've reached their 1st year. 😊 I'm really hoping that you'll keep them, but I do understand your concern. It is truly a responsibility having pets but they're definitely worth it. Definitely worth it! I wouldn't exchange my pets for the world. 💛

I really loved watching that video ❤️ I think Freya would suit her very well (I've been into Norse mythology lately, so I'm definitely biased ☺️). Love the other kitties' names, especially Houdini. 👌 Cats do need to eat grass as it helps them with digestion (and balls of fur), so they might be mischievous for a good reason. 😅 Those prices are ridiculous. Just a little warning; the climbing won't stop until you tell her no and make her get down. I have a very friendly cat who did that as a kitten, didn't think much of it because he was a barn cat and I had carhartt winter clothes on at the time. Now I have to watch because he will try to climbe me when I have shorts on. And he is not little! 😅

When you get them vaccinated ask the vet if there's a charity option where a vet comes in for a few days and neuters cats for free (they do that in my country) and usually there's a waiting list for it
