I just finished Ship of Magic and you're so right, that book is GOOOOD. Robin Hobb is crazy talented. I haven't read a multi POV story that made me feel so intensely towards the characters in so long. I'm taking a break from the series for a few weeks to get to new releases but I'm so eager to read the rest of Liveship!!!

You could get a picture that's longer but short & fits under the new shelf. Long enough to fill the space, but short enough that it wont be behind the TV. Like goes down only as far as the leaf decorations. Or two smaller prints side by side. Could look nice & fill the space. Or interchange seasonal wreaths under the shelf! I love that little pumpkin!

Kip also does grow a lot and really evolves as a character, especially in terms of self-image and self-worth. Definitely doesn’t happen overnight, but Kip and Karris are two of my favorites (having just stared the latest book at least 😬) partially due to their own identity journeys.

I love the Liveship Traders trilogy, it's so good. Kennit can choke though, he's the worst. Excited to see your reactions to it! I don't think you need to have read the Farseer trilogy. I'd only read the Assassin's Apprentice and I didn't feel like I'd missed out on anything. My friend (who's read both) said there were small hints but nothing major.

For Robin Hobb, readers should read both Farseer and Liveship as the start of their reading journey. If you start with Farseer, read Liveship after (publication order is best!). Whenever anyone asks me about reading Hobb, I always say read both of those trilogies first but it doesn't matter TOO MUCH which one you start with.

I've heard Liveship recommended as an alternative starting point for the Realm of the Elderlings, but in order to continue after that trilogy one would want to go back and read Farseer.

I was always way too intimidated to read big ol’ fantasy books like these but I read Priory of the Orange Tree in August and actually now I’ve read that I’m not so intimidated anymore! I feel like I’ve missed out on so many great books, including those by Brent Weeks and Robin Hobb! Hopefully 2021 will be a year of fantasy reading for me 👀

I’m so happy you are re-reading the lightbringer series! I’m on the last book and wanna see all your thoughts on all the books and then what you think of the final book when you get to it! So far Im enjoying the series so so, like a 3.5 kinda series. But parts of it I LOVE, especially all the plot twists and the mighty, but other times I’m finding it quite slow and meanders a bit or there’s some random tangents about things.

I've been wondering why I find it so damn satisfying that you're loving Liveship Traders. I guess it's because I've come to trust your taste, and you're loving a huge favorite of mine. Plus, I've recommended Hobb so many times to folks who just don't seem to get it. Which is disappointing. (There's also the fact that Hobb is probably the author I most aspire to emulate in my own work. In scope if not exactly in style, but I humbly understand the student will always be chasing the master.) Looking forward to following along through the rest of the trilogy. Also, thanks to you, I'm thinking it's a good time for a reread. Keep up the good work.

I’m telling you.. you and Clay would love the anime show Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) I recommended it in a comment from one of your recent vlogs. It’s an action, supernatural, shounen. You can watch all 26 episodes of the 1st season on Hulu, Crunchyroll, or Funimation. I really do think both of you will enjoy it! A movie comes out for it next month as well. Bleach is terrible. The anime is trash, the manga's final arc is horrific. I don't recommend you waste your time on it. I recommend Fullmetal Alchemist. It's awesome.
