After reading My Dark Vanessa I felt numb and cried about 2 days... Because of the story, and also some memories from my teenage years. In my humble opinion, the fact that Vanessa wanted to save her teacher, made this book even better and more truthful, because that is how victim brain works. And how abusers manipulate. It is very dark book, but very very good. I would love to see a video just about this book. I think this book should be mentioned more in the booktube. Because this book doesn't romantize relationship between teenage girl and a adult men as many other books do. I think teenage girls should read it to know what it really means when adult man says to you that "you're special"

Oh my gosh I just watched Ian Gubeli's video where he read My Dark Vanessa yesterday and he said a lot of similar things- including the make sure you read the trigger warnings before hand. He didn't know whether to give it 1 or 5 stars because of how the content made him feel but it was so beautifully written. I think it is not the book for me after hearing both of yall talk about it 😅 Funny story- I dreamt last night that I was in school (bleh) and the teacher was assigning some group essay project with the people you were at the same table with, which included YOU and some random girl haha You were immediately like "OK so we're going to write an essay on Song of Achilles and how Achilles' felt torn between fulfilling his destiny and staying with Patroclus" and then I woke up and saw you posted so... guess my unconscious brain knew? Hahaha

💚 I added two of the three to my 2025 TBR 📝 Your reaction when reading MDV is how I felt reading Dark Horses -- it still makes me sick when I think about it. I had never read anything like it. And, I won it off GoodReads. It was sick, twisted and beautifully written. The ending stymied me. Heads up: FYI -- KU Readathon in May. Clean out your Kindle. I've got 24 in KU. Question: After you read do you delete the book from your Kindle? Have a good week and congrats on your channel growth.

I didn’t know about the KU readathon! Thank you for letting me know! And I do end up deleting the books from kindle once I’ve read them. I've considered reading Nabokov's Lolita for many years, but just could't even pick it up. So many people have recommended it for it's literary merit while at the same time warning of the content. Then I saw an interview with Donna Tartt (The Secret History) and she said it is one of her favorite books ever. I checked it out of the library and read the first paragraph. Then returned the book. Maybe some day I'll be brave enough to tackle it. Congrats on your channel growth ~ you've earned it! Happy travels! 💫 💜

Don’t think I am gonna read my dark Vanessa. I am currently almost finished reading the blood letters daughter. This sorta based on a true event. A prince of Bohemia is mad and kills people and he is the king Rudolph II son. In this book he thinks the blood letters daughter is a maiden out of the coded book of wonders. It’s just messed up.
