Blood Over Bright Haven was awesome! Also fyi ML Wang has not written nor does she intend to write any more books in world of Sword of Kaiden. She has 2 other books prior to SOK called the Theonite series that she has ended. SOK is considered a standalone.

i finished sword of kaigen on monday and i've been so excited to hear what your thoughts were on it and they were pretty much exactly the same as mine. i loved it and thought the combat scenes were so well written i literally felt like i was there whereas i usually skim read them! definitely one of my favourite books this year

Omigosh - Christmas Snoopy is adorable! And love the star blanket. Reading wise - I’m up to book 4 of Terry Pratchett’s City Watch books - Jingo. I am also waiting on the arrival of my ‘floppy US paperback’ version of The Way of Kings to start that series. I have the mass market paperback but want the larger size paperback for ease of reading.

It's surreal to hear your university courses are NOT overly demanding. What are you taking again?? Brandon Sanderson = 1300 pages, obviously. The coziness is palpable all throughout the B-roll, and quite frankly my apartment needed it. Sorry to hear about your hip. My right leg is the same way every winter. The way you're describing Sword of Kaigen is quite the hype. The themes sound very rich and the structure/buildup sound very deliberate. 30:12 I want those muffins!!

Glad you’re reading Wind and Truth. I decided to stop after Rhythm of War 😂 I just can’t face another 1000+ page bloated up wordy book that could have been edited to be shorter. I’ve read and watched some spoiler reviews which support my decision. But if you should decide to do a spoiler review section after you’ve read it I’d definitely give it a watch 😉 I am interested in what you’ll think about it.

I have 17% left of Wind and Truth and will finally finish it tonight! 🥳 I read Sword of Kaigen four years ago and didn't like it at all. I loved Mamoru and there's one of my favorite tropes used at the end of his POV, but I really disliked Misaki. I didn't click with the writing style so that may have affected my reading. Also, I hate inconsistent and illogical usage of Japanese in stories and (according to my review lol) there was a lot of that. I still want to try Blood Over Bright Haven and it's on my TBR for the first half of 2025. Though, I'm going in with lower expectations than I did for Sword of Kaigen.

The water/blood magic is very avatar the last Airbender and the legend of Korra coded 😂 I like Korra better because Amon, Tarlokk and Yakone could bloodbend whenever they wanted day or night while all the other waterbenders could only do that particular skill during a full moon. Had me hooked on season 1.

I was generally confused as to why BookTubers were talking about The Sword of Kaigen being a standalone when there was the Theonite series before containing Planet Adyn and Orbit and TSoK was Theonite Wars series. I suppose all the different series of Star Trek are still Star Trek but they are different series within their own right. Then again to me the Powerless Trilogy can’t be a trilogy as there are novellas in the series making it more than a trilogy. I can’t always shut my pedantic autistic self up 😂
