Something I feel like people are forgetting about Cursed Child...its not a book, it is a script. Actually it is the rehearsal edition of a script which is even more telling. With plays (especially new ones) their scripts are constantly changing during the rehearsal process depending on how they look and what feels weird and what seems irrelevant and all that. What we have as readers could be pretty different than what audiences are seeing. Scripts very rarely read like novels, they are short and sometimes choppy because they are meant to be watched and not really read. I think watching the actual West End production would be a very different experience. Even though JK didn't write the script, she says it is her story, so we have to believe that this is the path she wanted her characters to take. She wouldn't have let it be released if she didn't like it.

I agree with everything you said but, just a heads up, I saw the play August 10th and, as far as I know, the script has not changed. If they've made any changes they are not noticeable at all. That said, it is infinitely better seen than read, obviously.

I did not notice the line "I was crippled with fear", oh my god. I totally see that this is something that should not have gone unnoticed by editors!!! Also, great video and some very nice reading you did during the last time, Booktubeathon definetly also helped my reading over the last month :)

With those few sentences about "Cursed Child", you managed to put into words the exact feeling and opinion I've been trying to describe for three weeks. I'm looking forward to the video. Thanks!

I always love these wrap-up videos - you read such a nice mix of books I've heard before and want to know about / books I haven't ever heard of that I'm glad to be introduced to. I'm currently about to start the Percy Jackson series for the first time :)

I've been rereading the Princess Diaries series. It was my absolute favorite as a preteen and it's so exciting to read it now as a young adult and be able to still enjoy it.

i've been re-reading Harry Potter too! i just finished Prisoner of Azkaban. i love re-visiting the series every few years - even though i know it so well, i always find myself affected in new/different ways. like, i've been tearing up at lines that i never did when i was younger haha. can't wait for your Cursed Child video!

I am currently listening to "This is What Happy Looks Like". I think the audio book has helped me get past all the obvious mistakes and far reaching things that happen. It has been entertaining even if it is rather ridiculous and helps mundane activities like washing dishes and commuting just a little more interesting. :)

Right now, I'm reading A Darker Shade of Magic. Vicious has been sitting around the back of my TBR ever since you mentioned it in a video, and I finally read it and promptly decided to read everything else VE Schwab has written.

That last book sounds good. I look forward to hearing what you think of it when you finish. I am reading You Only Live Twice as part of on online MI6 book club. But I am excited to start Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire which was described to me as a book about children who have come back from magical worlds (like Narnia or Neverland) and their struggle to readjust and use what they learned on their adventures in the real world.

I'm really really really glad you feel the same way I do about the new HP book... It was so weak and just generally a mess. I'm doing a reread myself of the His Dark Materials series, in conjunction with other books like The Heir and Cinder. And I want to do a reread of all the HP books... we'll see.

I just read Fun Home by Alison Bechdel and it was wonderful. I've also been revisiting some of my favorite LGBT-focused novels that I first read when I was coming out in high school (Annie on my Mind, Keeping You a Secret, How Beautiful the Ordinary, How We Met). That's been a great experience -- after almost 7 years, those books still feel like a huge warm hug.

I am currently on book 3 of a quartet. The author is a favorite of mine, Lian Hearn and I saw the covers of the first 2 books and thought they were beautiful and then I noticed the author was one I loved. So I had to buy them. The 4th book comes out at the end of the month which is amazing! The Tale of Shikanoko series. Book 1- The Emperor of the Eight Islands. Set in a mythical feudal Japan. I love the story which is based on some more classical Japanese literature. Would love to know your views!

I've actually been meaning to do a full, proper series reread since I read Cursed Child... looking forward to your review, because I think I feel similarly to how you feel about it, and those feelings made me miss the original series. (That, and I recently played the Lego game for the first time in a few years, and that brought on a huuuuuuge rush of nostalgia.)

I've got so many books Im reading.. Before the summer started I reread Mediator by Meg Cabot, the first book.. then I got the 2,3, & 4th book.. That series surprisingly went fast Im already in 5th book and there are 7.. I am reading, very slowly is Silent in the Sanctuary.. Im enjoying it, but the book is very slow to me

I'm super late to the party but I just 13 Little Blue Envelopes! I really enjoyed it, especially because I was lucky enough to go to some of the places mentioned in her book, but as a college senior I do think I would have enjoyed it more in high school. Nonetheess, I will be reading the sequel. I also just started Trials of Apollo. I started the Percy Jackson series as the end of middle school, and just really feel like I have to see it through. I'm only a couple chapter in, but I think I'm enjoying it!

I did not notice the "I'm crippled with fear" line from Me Before You when I read the book. However, I am a bit confused as to why this line is upsetting. I personally don't see anything wrong with it. Kristina, could you perhaps elaborate a bit more? I would like to understand your point of view on that matter.

Yeah I re-read the Harry Potter books every couple of years or so. It's really nice forgetting a few details so it feels a little bit new each time. I've probably read them 5 or 6 times :)

Wow you DNF JoJo Moyes "Me Before You" after that one sentence you mentioned in the video. I actually liked that book that I am hearing the audiobook follow up "After You" which starts 18 months after the death of the character at the end of "me before you". I also read the play "Harry Potter and The Cursed Child" and I read it in one sitting which just took three hours. I liked it but I do like time travel stories so reading it reminded me of the Jules Verns "Time Machine" with the whole ideological question of "what If?"

I am reading the Percy Jackson spin-off series, Heroes of Olympus. I finished reading the original 5 Percy Jackson books this summer, and I'm going to try the Hunger Games series soon. I also COMPLETELY agree with you on Cursed Child. I could not BELIEVE that my FAVORITE BOOK SERIES OF ALL TIME could have a story so messed up. I just thought it was a joke. Some person who replaced JK Rowling's story with a weird fanfiction they made. PLEASE PLEASE JOANNE DON'T HATE ME!!!! I'M STILL YOUR BIGGEST FAN!!!

Since you're rereading Harry Potter, have you gone back to read any of your favorite HP fanfics? I know sometimes when I reread books from years ago I get a hit of nostalgia and want to reread some of my favorites ones.

I have all the HP books and have read the first one. However I recently switched to audiobooks because otherwise I am using my eyes too much watching movies, reading AND studying AND reading music. I suppose it's the summer which lasts 8 months where I live and the dustiness ruins my eyes. Then if I read more I could enjoy your videos even more.

I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and I am also trying to get through Pride and Prejudice which is proving to be a very hard task. I read me before you and I really liked it. I didn't even notice that line when reading it. Me being a double amputee myself I don't see why it is such a big deal that she said that. It doesn't offend me in any way. IDK maybe others are offended by it but I really don't understand why they would be.

you said george is a book about a little boy who self identifies as a girl, but it's really about a little girl who everybody else identifies as a boy. Saying it the other way falls into the trap of letting cis people have gender but trans people only allowed gender identity. and it's less accurate. if you try to imagine a boy who want's to be a girl you'll never empathize very well, and you'll always other. but if you try to imagine what a girl like yourself must feel like being constantly told they're a boy you'll be able to understand that better. Although mega points for correct pronouns throughout. also you're fabulous and wonderful and amazing.
