Never before in the history of mankind, has it been so easy for us to connect with people on the other side of the world. How sad that people have to be so negative and nasty. It's a good thing that you have such a good handle on life. Why can't people just listen to another persons viewpoint without being so judgemental? Bless you for being such a sweet girl. X
@emdiar65883 жыл бұрын
I honestly believe that it's BECAUSE we are more connected than ever before that things are going from bad to worse in World Politics. I am English but it's got to the point where I actually root AGAINST England in the Euros. I live in the Netherlands for work but am currently staying in England while the pandemic rages to care for an elderly relative. While I have been living abroad, the English seem to have slowly become more and more like a bunch of racist, flag waving, 'me-first', Right Wing dicks. It saddens me. People who used to go through life with ignorant nationalistic views in private, now have the internet to embolden them, and this previously background casual bigotry has now become their primary passion. The England flag has been appropriated by these Ukip/Boris loving neofascist hobby-racists, and as they all support England and have a massive superiority complex, it would actually cheer me up to see them get knocked down a peg or two. To anyone wanting to call me a self hating traitor.... NOPE. It's you I hate for destroying my country's international reputation and turning it into an insular, isolationist, inward looking backwater of Europe.

But she's so pretty, she could just smile at the camera and get views. Her humour for a pretty girl.I.think is the hook and relatability for me at least. Even though we have nothing of life circumstances in common, I am anxious and also chatty... Just that she has journalism experience so it's good she now has an outlet for the skill set while working a mundane job unrelated to her area of study/educational background. She said she hated it but look she can definitely speak on camera and video herself so that is heroism for me

I am neither from England or Canada. But I still enjoy the videos. I found your channel by coincidence, when I was searching for vids of England. I find this channel relaxing and down to earth. I enjoy watching and learning about England, aswell as just follow you in general. My husband and I have often talked about visiting or moving to England at some point (obviously, visiting first and THEN decide). It is sad some people have to write bad stuff everywhere. I have a friend, who started her own channel. Just for fun, just because she wanted to do it. And before she really got started, people hated so much on her, that she decided to stop. Something she enjoyed they managed to ruin, because it (apparently?) was so important for them to write their negative thoughts. It's not even constructive criticism - it is only destructive. So thinking about my friend...I am so happy you are able to go on! That is inspiring. :)

Be sure to take a very full tour before you make up your mind. I'm sure some people would tell you there's nowhere better than Shropshire or there's nowhere better than Berkshire or there's nowhere better than Hounslow or there's nowhere better than Dartford or there's nowhere better than Derbyshire or there's nowhere better than Cheshire and I know there are people who'd tell you there's nowhere better than Yorkshire, but do give Devon, Cornwall, central Wales, Lancashire, Cumbria, Banff, Stirling, Elgin and Forres, Cambridgeshire and the rest a look. Maybe don't bother looking at Middlebrough, Darlington or Colchester, though. Two of them have houses for sale for under £10,000 and one of them's downwind of London nad inhabited by Essex girls and Military Prison staff.

I don't put myself in the same group as those commenters but I do class myself as English, not British, but I have no issue with others calling me British as it's just a term that's not incorrect. I do it because it's my country of birth and British has been superseded by the UK. We have a UK postal address and a UK passport, so for me it's England, UK, not England, Great Britain. I can somewhat understand the backlash though, not that I completely agree with it. If you look at famous people, someone like Hugh Grant and Benedict Cumberbatch are generaly considered British actors (especially outside this country). Whereas Tom Jones is generally considered Welsh, whilst Ewan MacGregor and Sean Connery are considered Scottish, not British. To some it can seem like 'English' is being washed away and their identity along with it.

Can't believe I've not liked this video before, and not sure if I've previously commentated. But as someone who is virtually blind without his glasses I just want to say you're fantastic. I love your content (you've liked my comments before so you'll know!) and given you're stranded back home in Canada, I hope to see you back home soon!

first off alanna, I would like to aplogise on behalf of myself as a "british" citizen, yes people I am "british", but also scottish, proud to be both!, and express how ashamed, dissapointed and angry I am in my so called fellow countryman/woman,and all others who have directed such vile posionus comments to you. Secondly, love your videos Alanna, always very insightful, and though provoking and always enjoyable. I am so glad you posted this video to call out and highlight these, what can only be descibed as cowardly sad pea brained little people, all morons and idiots, nobody should have to put up with that!!!. unfortunately i feel over the last decade society here in the U.K as a whole seems to have take a nose dive and reverted back to neanderthal levels of both behaviour and thinking, although i would like to say we are NOT ALL like that and their a still a few good people left here in the U.K. A proud subscriber to Adventures and Naps x

I freaking love you and this is a lovely channel that I can't get enough of. Stupid people can actually become destructive, which is why you learn to put them in their place as you grow more mature. They need to be handled or they will sometimes start handeling you. For example, I used to give out my respect just automatically as soon as I met someone. I have learned that a hell of a lot of people out there will never deserve anything like that. Nowadays, everyone I meet needs to earn my respect a little bit.

Your channel is great, very entertaining, and one of the few I regularly watch, and look forward to each week ☺️ I guess some people are just mean, or angry, or just easily take offense, and love letting you know all about their feelings! 😂 I'm older, but I certainly didn't take offense at your creepy old men comments, as you're right, and it was funny!! 😂

I came across your channel a couple of years after this so genuinely fascinating that this popped in the videos to view now and a very different video from what I’m used to but really enjoyed and appreciated it as you so perfectly dealt with the asinine and really sad, juvenile and ignorant comments that so often typify “social media commentary”. I just love how intelligently, grounded and humorously you just put all this crap firmly in it’s place. This is genuinely a fascinating, cogent, rational analysis & very effective refutation of the down side of “comments” the likes of which I have never seen any other content producer I’m aware of even attempt, never mind achieve. This may well be a few years too late but thank you, great job👍

Hi Alanna I commend you on your courage; courage to travel and live abroad and your courage to expose those people who go out of their way to be hurtful. My studies and experience with educating adults on essential life skills has taught me a great deal about human nature. People who are inclined to express hurtful comments are often bitter about some aspects of their life and use the obscurity of the internet to write things that they would not likely say in a face to face conversation. Negative criticism can be made in a constructive manner. Hurtful comments, even those veiled as constructive criticism, are often made in an effort to release the anger and hurt that a person is experiencing in their life and is directed at targets of convenience, such as yourself. I watch your postings because I enjoy your perspective on a variety of interesting topics and I particularly enjoy the effort you put in to making these videos. Your delightful personality makes these all the more enjoyable. Stay the course.

we love your videos, it's great to hear your views and you always bring a great mix of intelligence and humour - there will always be some 'little islanders' who sit behind their keyboards and feel empowered but they certainly aren't representative of the majority of Brits (or Englanders). Keep up the great work, love your accent and especially your rating systems, makes us laugh x

the English / British thing (I think) is simply a matter of how we refer to ourselves. for the most part, while at home we're English, Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish. we're still British, we just rarely self reference ourselves that way unless sport is involved. British is what everyone else calls us and sometimes it doesn't feel quite right, but no biggie either.
@halcroj6 жыл бұрын
@@dismafuggerhere2753 For me, the only time it doesn't feel quite right is when we're referred to as "Brits". I'm not offended, but it just doesn't sound right.

Hey there I am a Brit and been watching your videos for some time now and love what you do. I should also say that I apologise for my fellow Brits who have posted negative things towards you. These people are just a bunch of sad rude idiots with to much time on there hands at the end of the day so don’t worry to much about them. Anyway forget about them and keep the videos coming and all the best for the future.

Hopefully the nicer people out weigh the awful ones. Keep up the good work.

One of your best videos so far. However, you are a bit harsh on some of those regarding the whole ring thing. 1, you are not too young to be engaged. 2, maybe people noticed it and just wanted to go out of their way to congratulate you because they were genuinely happy for you if it was an engagement ring. 3, you want it to be a private matter, but you are the one putting yourself out there so as long as people are not being rude about it you can't fault them for being curious. Just my two pence. ✌️

I’m sorry that so many people seem to think it’s OK to be negative, nasty, and downright hostile towards you. As one of the, I guess, “creepy old man” brigade I’ve been watching you since YT recommended your first ‘Eat This’ back in November 2017. I found you funny and entertaining, subscribed, and have been watching & being entertained by your videos since. I’m an older, married bloke, and how you look, or what you wear, or if you do or don’t wear your glasses never enters into the equation for me, you are funny, entertaining, and engaging, (as in I always watch the entirety of your videos unlike some more ‘established’ KZbinrs). I’m also English but often refer to myself as British. In the grand scheme of things there is little difference in my mind. I have quite a few health issues, and live with chronic pain, and can genuinely say that your weekly videos, regardless of topic, are a high point of my week. (I’ve read most of the books that you spoke about in a past video too, and your recommendations were good). Bollocks to the haters, you are closing in on 30k subscribers so you are obviously doing something right. Anyway, until next time, Byeeeeeeee. 😂

I'm another of the "too old to be engaged" fans here, and it's possible I never noticed the glasses, because I wear them myself and they're an out-of-focus foreground detail that I'm used to ignoring. The comment about being attractive has got me thinking, though: *is* that why we watch? Can our motivation be described as a mixture of social, intellectual, aesthetic, romantic and/or sexual attraction? Is "socially attractive" a thing? Alanna's cheerful, polite and enthusiastic. That makes her pleasant to have around. Is that social attractiveness? Maybe we really are all here because Alanna's attractive. It's not like she was ever going to talk me into eating Fry's Turkish Delight, even if she did enjoy it.

A first grade teacher explains to her class that she's American and asks her students to raise their hands if they're American too. Not really knowing why, but wanting to be like their teacher, hands explode into the air like fireworks. There is, however, one exception, a girl named Becky isn't going along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I'm not an American." "Then, what are you?" asks the teacher. "I'm a proud Canadian!" boasts the little girl. The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red and asks Kristen why she feels she's Canadian. "Well, my mom and dad are Canadians, so I'm a Canadian too." The teacher is now angry and screams, "That's no reason! What if your mom was a moron and your dad was a moron!? What would you be then?" A pause and a smile. "Then," says Kristen. "I'd be an American."

At what age do I change from “man” to “creepy old man”? You should take a look at filtering the profanity and blocking the usual suspects. I’ve been here since around 5k subs because I enjoy your positive attitude and one day I hope for an extended stay in a different country.
