my name is Sheila, and when this song came out (1985), I was in highs chool. When people would be introduced to me, I would say "my name is Sheila" and they would reply with, oh you mean "Oh Sheillllaaaa!" LOL

Wendee B I think that people are saying that the music of today is nothing, compared to the music in the day. Personally, I have to agree but, being 44, maybe I have to say that! I think that the attitude of today is more sexual, angry, hateful and negative - at least, soulless and, ultimately joyless.
@LBJTV10 жыл бұрын
kz1000ps not entirely, its not like that all the time, groups like the Bee Gees got recognition from the young generation but also the older ones, they appealed to all ages and were on top of the charts, you don't get that anymore, or just look at any soul group from the 70s, you know SOUL TRAIN was for everybody, your grandma and grandson could get down to those grooves in the living room, thats pretty unlikely these days and thats what sets apart music now to music 30+years ago

Listen up. I'm 16 years old and I ONLY enjoy listening to music from the 50's to late 80's. My 11 year old brother and 24 year old sisters are the same way.We were exposed to this music since we were born since our whole family listens to it and is OBSESSED from these years. Not ALL teens are exposed to this because it's not what is popular in the radio today. Music changes. Older music is not as popular on the radio today. Get over it.

The songs back then touch a person spirit in many ways may you wanted to get up and dance or make love or be in love or just cry from joy or remembering of lost one in a beautiful way...They wrote from the heart and I can count on one hand how many artistes who can make you feel that way in there music

Being born in 1986, this was “before my time” but I know it because my parents had a “80’s hits cd” that I used to love listening to back in the late 90’s as a young teenager and this was on there. Man I gained such an appreciation and love for older music from listening to that album.

People shouldn't say that kids don't know good music. They should say they're not presented or exposed to good music. Remember we heated these songs on commercial radio back in the day. Now commercial radio is pure garbage. If it weren't for your tube and satellite radio, these jams would be buried in the past.

best-known hit "Oh Sheila," which went to number one on the R&B, Billboard Hot 100, and the Hot Dance Club Play charts that year, becoming the first ever single to hold the number one spot on all three of these charts simultaneously. The song "Digital Display" followed and hit number 21. In 1986, the band released their second album Long Time Coming, which returned them to the Top 10 on the pop charts when the slow jam "Love You Down" Oh Sheila" is according to legend written about Sheila E

With everyone claiming that "kids" don't know good music these days isn't fully true. I'm 12, and I love the eighties, in a matter of fact, Michael Jackson is my favorite musician. I don't like the music from these days either, they lack of message and imagination. Everything sounds the same. So on that, I can agree, music now a days is VERY trashy, but not all kids listen to it, I certainly don't.
