I can see you’re trying to elicit that Im closed minded by assuming something by the way someone speaks, but vernacular is a real thing, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. We’ve only been taught AAVE is unintelligent and using words like “t’was” and old English makes you sound intelligent. For example “ain’t” is also a contraction commonly used by black people and white people have convinced us that it makes you sound “unintelligent” but there are as many rules to AAVE as English. If you can watch friends it means you could stomach the fact that there was no black characters and they lived in this huge apt that young. As someone who is from NY it’s just unrealistically funny to watch lolll. There’s nothing wrong with sounding black, just like you can sound white. Just stop assuming because someone sounds black it’s synonymous with unintelligence, just like using words like t’was doesn’t make you sound more intelligent.

I judge art forms based on the merit of what it really is. And friends for what it was, I found HILARIOUS. I do agree on the other hand, that there are art forms that should be judged more rigidly based on the influence and message conveyed. So there’s that.
