Your threat that you can easily mop just botched your plans and are sitting there for the taking but it just stands there. There's been far better scenes done and this one would've been better done like they did Thanos. Show him for sure but show him separately as the next imposing threat away from the protagonist, not staring at them across a portal.

​@Chris Stucker Not at all. First of all, Cyborg has already destroyed the motherboxes from the inside, so the unity is out of the question. Plus, Superman has already defeated Darkseid *on his own* in multiple other stories in other mediums before ZSJL, so claiming Darkseid could "walk over their scorched corpses" when talking about Superman AND the rest of the league united is one hell of a stretch at best. Now let's look at how this goes down; when you remove the slow motion, this scene actually happens extremely quickly in real time. The motherboxes being separated and Steppenwolf getting sent back beheaded all happens in only a few seconds. So, what Darkseid sees here is this; he opens a portal to the only planet that has ever defeated him, and immediately sees the motherboxes torn apart before his servant is thrown back to him impaled and beheaded by six super-powered beings that he knows nothing about. That is one *hell* of a message, especially from a world that has already beaten him once. There is no way Darkseid would be foolish enough to then step through recklessly and try to take down the entire Justice League, by himself with zero preparation whilst knowing nothing about them, after witnessing them do that on a world he has already lost and nearly died on once. Plus, Darkseid may not be familiar with the league and all their powers, but he *does* know how powerful Kryptonians can be. It was going to be an entire storyline that Darkseid needs to kill Lois Lane to weaken Superman enough for him to be susceptible to the anti-life equation, because Darkseid *knows* just how much of a threat even a single Kryptonian can be and how hard it would be to defeat Superman physically. And on top of all this, Darkseid doesn't even have the anti-life equation yet in this scene. It's his ultimate goal, and there's no way he would take any stupid chances with the anti-life equation finally within his grasp. So to summarise, no. Darkseid doing nothing wasn't "kinda lame" at all. It would actually have been unfathomably stupid of him to throw himself against the league here, and he knew that. Hence why he didn't do it.

I don't like the way Darkseid was portrayed in this movie, he was turned into a cowardly weakling. At first, his alien troops defeated the ordinary aborigines, who are a million years behind in technical terms, and he himself was able to defeat three gods: Zeus, Ares and Artemis, although in the comics, in a weaker form, he was able to defeat and kill the same Zeus. Then he forgot about the special planet where the equation he needed was located and did not mention it for a thousand years until Steppenwolf found him and was afraid to intervene in the battle, although again in the comics and cartoons he viciously kicked the backs of superheroes even being blind.

Out of Snyder’s 3 (MoS, BvS, ZSJL) I personally think this one is actually the least dark out of all of them. Still dark, but it ended on a triumphant note despite the possible dark future. Meanwhile in MoS and BvS they ended in (mostly) tragedy. Victory at a huge cost unlike ZSJL. BvS would easily be the darkest if it didn’t end with hope rekindled in Batman, which is way less dark than MoS imo. MoS may have ended with Clark starting his job at the Daily Planet and things looking more up (pun intended) but that had nothing to do with Metropolis’s destruction and killing Zod. MoS basically said okay those consequences happened and there doesn’t need to be any sense of resolution to that, just have Clark continue being Superman and start his new civilian job.

In the short timeframe of only three or four scenes, Darkseid managed to be perhaps the most imposing and threatening comic book villain I have ever seen in a film or tv series. His voice, his presence, the single motions of him turning to face the League and smashing Steppenwolf’s head like a grape. They all represent Darkseid’s unyielding persona and his insane power in comparison to other beings. And yet, unlike other iterations of his character, he feels humble, because he took DeSaad’s “I told you so,” in a way that suggested he knew he made a mistake by trusting in someone like Steppenwolf to do what he needed to all along. It suggests we are dealing with a far less ruthless version of Darkseid that is willing to show some manner of leniency, or wait until the appropriate moment to exact terrible justice on those he seems threatening. Otherwise he would’ve used his Omega Beam on the League when the Boom Tube was open, but he didn’t. Either that, or he wants to make the League suffer personally.

One thing I can praise this movie is how much the team actually work together in this final fight scene one thing I can say why is Wonder Woman theme song playing every time in the movie I will understand if it’s twice and that’s it but not multiple times and the movie had good scenes it’s a good improvement that disappointment for 2017 and I totally forgot about this scene too also can say the ending is dope!

I don't like the way Darkseid was portrayed in this movie, they made him out to be a cowardly weakling. At first, his alien troops lost essentially to ordinary aborigines, who were behind in technology by a million years, and he himself was defeated by the three old gods: Zeus, Ares and Artemis, although in the comics in a weaker form he was able to defeat and kill the same Zeus. Then he forgot about the particular planet where the equation he needed was located and didn't think about it for a thousand years until Steppenwolf found him and was afraid to get involved in the fight, though again in the comics and cartoons he could easily fight the entire League even as blind.

I think we will see him somewhere in 5-10 years, by then the people will calm down and easily accept him (people change and quickly forget). Until then, there will be other villains of which there are many in DC, plus after Thanos and the Apocalypse, Darkseid already looks secondary (and I know that in the comics he appeared earlier, but Thanos was filmed first, and now villains of a similar type are perceived by everyone as his imitation).
