I’m sure the mail man will keep it right side up. 😂

Live reptiles (eggs included) can't be shipped in the mail. Only through FedEx by an approved live animal shipper which I am. The boxes are clearly labeled which side goes up in an insulated and temperature regulated box. We've never had a single one harmed in shipping. Every egg comes with a hatch guarantee. Even still, rotating the egg won't harm it but incubating on the incorrect side over an extended period of time could potentially be bad which is why we put the "x" on top.

My 20 year old female sulcata just laid 32 beautiful eggs. I was wondering if my humidity is too high at 86% (temp at 89.4°F)? This is my first time hatching tortoise eggs!

Thanks, but how l decide the position of spot X if my tortoise hached an egg?

It won't matter until you start the incubation process. Whatever position the egg is in once you start incubation it should remain in that same position. Marking the top with an X can help maintain the same position without rotation so the tortoise can develop properly.

Hello, I am trying to incubate tortoise egg in home made incubator. Humidity is about 75%. But I have to almost open the lid. Do you think that it is ok when the humidity is not changing and temperature is 29°c with almost opened lid. Or i should try make more holes and let it closed? I don't know what to do.

I start them off on spring mix lettuce then wean them to grasses and weeds when they are about 2-3 months old.
