The scenes where Johnny finds the note and resulting heartbreak are as close as anyone can get to the real thing. Replicating the circumstances which gain ones' entrance into such an exclusive club for those who find suicide victims is, luckily, impossible but tonights' episode did convey as much of the devastation and shock as possible and that was some feat. Well done to all involved.

I know that this Storyline is going to help someone. In the US I don't remember seeing Suicide Storylines but I remember on Degrassi High Archie "Snake" Simpson found Claude Tanner's Body. Then when he becomes a Teacher A Young Man named Rick not only Shoots and paralyzes Jimmy Brooks but takes his own life. He asked his Principal to just listen to him and the man didn't and a riot took place. In the US there was a Soap Actor named Benjamin Hendrickson who played Harold "Hal" Munson on As The World Turns starting in 1985 who killed himself in 2006. He was very depressed and nobody knew then Michelle Ray Smith who played Ava Paralta on Guiding Light (It's Sister Show) had a relative who killed themselves. Kristoff St. John who has been playing Neil Winters on The Young & The Restless was so devastated by his Son Julian's Death by suicide who was also Schizophrenic he tried to take his own life. He got counselling and he's doing much better.

Suicidal thoughts are like being pushed to the edge of a building by someone while your pushing backwards trying not to be pushed off, your body is mentally self destructing while everything in your body is telling you to just end it all why your scrambling trying to fight back and convince yourself why you shouldn't, all the while you have thoughts whizzing around your head and you feel like your life is crumbling around you, overthinking every little scenario to the point where you feel like everyone would just be better off without you, like everyone is looking at you differently to everyone else and every comment every movement you make is being judged and isn't normal, I realise I got a bit off track at the end there and was a bit more personal to my struggles

This was a really sad episode, the devastation of all the Conners especially Johnny, Eva etc. Shayne Ward did a really great job as Aidan Conner during the short time I've been watching this programme, and Coronation St for this hard hitting storyline. And of course the message is really important, if your ever feeling the way Aidan did, you shouldn't have to suffer in silence, there's always someone who you can talk to.

I have absolutely had so much respect for the writers for doing this, and so much of it is so true to life. The reactions, all of it, it felt so close to home. One thing I don’t think many people thought about was how the news was delivered. Usually you wouldn’t tell someone close to the deceased the specifics, you’d say “They passed away” or “They’ve died” but with suicide, no matter how many variations, people say “they killed themselves” I remember my relative died of suicide and I don’t remember hearing anyone even use the word “dead” or anything like it. It was always “suicide” or “killed himself”... it might seem small, but it’s as if it’s different. When my grandad died of cancer, the word cancer wasn’t used every time someone talked about his death, yet suicide was in my other relatives. It’s so sad to think that’s how they are always remembered. There’s never an encounter with someone who can talk about him without them saying “it’s a shame, he had so much going for him” as though all his other achievements meant nothing. Bravo to Corrie for doing this. Just because people don’t like talking about it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

I don't often watch TV, but as someone who lost my dad and a good friend to male suicide I felt compelled to. This may be a soap but it's a reality for so many people. I think Corrie handled this storyline so well and so sensitively! It can affect so many people in real life with being a big killer of males and with so many people suffering in silence. I hope it encourages others to speak out and removes the stigma. It will also help to educate people and get them talking openly about the topic. This episode captured the harrowing reality of the aftermath brilliantly... the reactions of grief, despair, devastation, disbelief, different points of view etc! Remember that nobody is powerless, helpless, alone or unloved! 💞

Gail's monologue though was simply great, mental health can seriously affect peoples personal lives and happy that it has become a huge topic in todays society over the last few years. Man that plays Johnny is an incredible actor. Stole the show. Such realism. Brought back my PSTD watching it. :( No one wants to experience suicide, believe me. :( The damage it does is beyond horrific - a living nightmare the people left behind can never wake up from. It can kill others too and grief is known to shorten people's life spans, ESPECIALLY parents.

This storyline was dealt with so well. No gruesome details of how or even why he took his own life. Who knows? And thats real. It was real in the sense of not knowing why anyone chooses to do this final action, and the people left behind in utter shock and disbelief with grief wrapped up all together. Amazing build up, in writing and acting over months, even about a year in aidans story before this culmination of his mental health. As a depression sufferer myself and an avid corrie fan especially, I never saw it coming. I however have contemplated but never attempted suicide. I felt Like aidan was someone i felt that i knew after watching 5 times a week on TV . Like anyone i know in real life who can take their own life in an instant and i wouldn't guess they were suffering. 2 years later im still affected by this storyline and sadly 2 men that i know of have taken their lives. The statistics of male suicide are astounding. Stay aware if you can . Its tough in any case. But men are "supposed to be tough" so thats why i think they struggle more. Rip to any who have taken this path xxx

I will really miss Aidan / Shayne . But I think the storyline was done in a amazing way . I love how everyone has a different opinion and feeling on suicide , which is shown in Corrie from some finding him selfish to so who know he wanted to do what’s best . I prefer Emmerdale but Corrie is amazing too . Three things have came out of this storyline so far 1. starting conversation in the show and in real life 2. Bringing friendships and relationships closer 3. Helping David

Perhaps the days of Oates are waring off if this scene is anything to go by. The pacing and the acting are some of the best on the show in years (aside from Maria's, but give and take). They're handling this subject with the tact and subtlety it deserves. I've never been happier to be wrong. When the Phelan bullshit ends, it's nothing but blue skies for Corrie's quality and merit as a TV show.

Well, the thing is, I have to qdmit I kind of like her mission statement. She says that Corrie, at the moment is a critique of masculinity in society and David and Aidan's storyline do a great job as such. However, she constantly undermines this mission statement with total misogynistic garbage like the Phelan story. Which, as well as a shit storyline with poor pacing and dogshit writing, is also a mqle power fantasy. What I meant was that it's unfortunate that she had to go under pressure before her work was worth the time of day.

People have said Aiden dies of a overdose, now I didn't see him going out like that, and if this very clever on the writters if this was the attention, he did of an overdose, but not of drugs, but and overdose of water, "drown himself in the tub" u can tell from 2 key details the drip of faint tap at the beginning, and of course the not involving the bathtub.

but surely if he drowned himself there would be more water in these scenes. wouldn't johnny's instinct be to pull him out of the water? or at least touch him or something? but johnny is bone dry afterwards.
