There you have it. Kelly is one of the most experienced drone pilots in the KZbin drone community. If he can't control the Zino then it cannot be controlled. I've personally been disappointed with my Zino since I got mine in the first pre-order batch. I am currently expecting to receive mine back from Husband USA after sending it back for repairs after a series of crashes under similar circumstances as we have seen here. If Hubsan were to have grafted it's camera and gimbal to a H501S airframe I would have been a happy camper. Why they could not engineer a foldable quad with the same flight characteristics as H501 I will never know

Where I do respect your opinion my purpose for this first drone isnt racing. I’m more concerned with it holding flights during, nav, orbit and follow me. The camera is what has sold me on it to be honest. I watched the JJRC x12, which would probably be another drone at same price point. The camera is noticeably different in end footage. The video from this drone isnt just 4K but the colors seem rich. So where I respect your opinion I wish the reviews you give on this drone are more relevant for the equipment on it. It has no optical or sonic sensors, so of course its going to struggle with just a barometer and GPS. There just isnt another drone with same quality of camera and features. If there is another 3 axis 4K option with GPS in that price point please let me know because I’m yet to find one. Its a lot of drone for 279.00 USD currently

The Zinononly uses a barometer for alt hold. I am wondering if Hubsan covered their barometer at all. The Zino cools itself with the air flowing through it. Barometers are affected by wind and other factors. This could be the reason it dips alot when flying fast. If anyone wants to try it...take apart your Zino and tape a small piece of foam over the barometer. Worth a try.
@wanambi85535 жыл бұрын
CL Tech, are you sure of it? I thought they use the GPS Attitude only. If you are right, it could explain a lot of fails. As I have seen a lot of reviews telling from overheating here could be one of the reasons.
@cltech90415 жыл бұрын
@@wanambi8553 GPS just gives the drone your lat and long. Altitude is set by the barometer. On the Fimi, Parrot, and DJI drones, they have a barometer, optical flow sensor, and ultrasonic sensor. The Mavic Pro and Air have dual sensors on the bottom ( 2 of each). That is why they are more precise than the other drones. Since the Zino has none of them, you can expect some inaccuracies. It's more like a scratch build APM quad. If you are used to those, then the Zino is fine. If you are looking for the precision of the Mavic, you will be dissapointed. I dont need a quad to land on an exact spot. I take off in an open area, so landing 10 ft from take off is good enough for me. I fly 200-400 ft up, so I am not worried about it flying around, dipping some, and hitting the ground. If you know your quad and its capabilities (what it can and can't do) you will know how to fly it.
@wanambi85535 жыл бұрын
@@cltech9041 think we are on the same side. What I see is that a lot of reviews are not fair. It's a challenge between apples and peers. The Zino as a pure GPS drone cannot do the same as a semi professional DJI one with a lot of sensors, optical and other physical help. This is, for me, the biggest fault of the most reviews. It doesn't help to say always the same not us and not Hubsan. I am sure there is space to optimize the software. It's interesting for me that they all use the barometer for altitude. This is of course horrible near the ground. You have air pressure changings everywhere , dark, bright, green, stone they all have different temperatures and so different pressures.

I got my Zino two days ago and I sent it back this morning. Funny I'm just now seeing your review and you're right the drone is unpredictable and unstable in many situations. I paid $250 for their I call it their Fly more combo that included 2 batteries a pretty nice travel bag and extras. The Zino seem to fly ok on it's own like in RTH mode. But my Zino wouldn't fly straight with the remote that came with it and I knew it was gonna crash soon then later. So I decided to not push my luck and return it with no damage from a crash. If it would've flown half way decent I would've kept it at that price and sold cheap over the summer. Hubsan Zino still needs much work, the Fimi X8 is a much better drone.

Ok so you spent the entire video showing us it doesn't hover and fly well when it is a few feet off the ground. so? Who flies that way anyway? You never showed us how it actually flies when using it to like fly around more than a few feet off the ground! Fairly worthless info for most users, except those planning on filming a few feet off the ground without touching the sticks. I don't own this drone, and am not a huge Hubsan fan, but I wouldn't decide about buying a drone based on how well it holds it's position a few feet off the ground in heavy to moderate wind.

I actually think it behaved much better than before. You have to think it do not have those extra assistance measures like DJI has with sensore everywhere that could help the drone keep in place. To controll a drone that close too a table means problems and to be frank you should now about that airpressure that goes down towards that table. Everytime you get up to a ok altitued the drones actually calms down and gets more stable. Not even my old Hubsan H501A can keep that stable that low. But yes, its not the best software they done from Hubsans side. I am sure if Hubans would have put a little optical sensore belove the drone, to help it keep in place and maybe a sensore that helped the barometer to keep it in place, it would have been really good. Its a pity that Hubsan didnt succed with this one. it seems like they just thought about the camera because the gimbal and camera is great. Such stable photage is not common for such a lowpriced gps drone. And Not even my Xiaomi Mi Drone kan keep that stable alignment to the horizon like this one can. I do hope Hubsan gets this drone good at same time. Its strange that there are some people out there, that has no issues with it at all?

I not sure if everyone knows how satellite navigation works. It depends on the angle, the quality of the signals and of course a free view to the satellites. If you have only the information of the position calculated by the angles it varies up to 5 metres (15 feet) you can have better position quality if you use broadcast signals. More satellites increase a little the accuracy. Car navigation systems cover this problem by setting the position to the next road. You can see this if you look on your transmitter to the high and/or horizontal position. I always see on the reviews highs jump from minus 0.3 to plus 0.5 feet metres or what ever you selected. If you have ultrasonic sensors it must become better it is like you get two (or more) position values. In this case it is no not fair to compare the Zino with a Spark or Mavic. You have to compare it with other GPS only drones. Of course Hubsan has to do something on the software. Maybe the can mix the position data with the attitude data (which are the air pressure) Maybe they can optimize the position algorithm. But, to be serious the H501SS does the same. Don't forget GPS is a military system and can be made inaccurate by military reasons. So the unexpected jump at the end can be a new received satellite with a slightly changes position. Again, Hubsan has to do some changings in the soft- and maybe in the hardware. But being fair, DJI as well got major problems with the Spark and the Mavic and it took time to solve them and make the copter stable as it is now. Fair winds Tom

The Zino isn't good in gusty winds and doesn't have as strong of GPS lock as a DJI drone. And does have altitude drop, especially when hovering a few feet off the ground. But I'm not sure you needed to spend most of the video hovering the Zino at around four feet above the ground. Does anyone really fly their drone that low for more than a few seconds. When the Zino is up fifty feet and not around any objects, the altitude drop seems to go away, and the drifting around in GPS lock is not an issue if you're actually flying, and not just hovering for most of your flight. Hubsan did release this drone before it was fully baked, there is no doubt about that. And it will always be more a hobbyist drone than DJI competitor.

Yea, need to own the Calibration situation. Sometimes I have to calibrate my 501 twice. If it's wonky, I bring it in and induce a caibration with the TX. It flies well after that. I fly between tall trees so it must be a strong lock. I'm not takin it over these 100ft.. evergreens unless she's locked. Did try to pilot my way out and it ended up in one of them too hi to get. It blew down and the neighbor kid put it. On my car. Glued it back together and she flies great again. She's a good locker loiterer..but must be calibrated. Well. And all the issues about dancing and counter clockwise etc did not work for me. I do clockwise like the instructions say. And my hand is not covering the fuselage, or compass. And I keep it in the same spot...away from my phone, metal or anything magnetic. All basic drone stuff. But absolutely NOT optional.

Maybe the frimware updating is cause the problem of accuracy or steady.

I was thinking to buy a zino for my holidays. Well, I watched some reviews before and never heard of that problems you have with the zino. Maybe you should calibrate the GPS again before you start? Could this be the problem? Maybe you can make a new video and calibrate the GPS before you start? Is this possible? Thx for the video! Regards from Germany 🇩🇪

@@daniel050-G27 having satalites does not mean a good calibration. It's how the compass responds to them.

Move on to the Xiaomi Fimi a3 and x8se. Like to get your opinion. PS. Just ordered the a3. Not my first drone. My 5th (China grade) gps drone. Also own 30 other toy quadcopters/tiny whoops.

Not the best of a drone just buy a DJI would never buy any other drone for comercial use and Great photography .Really think DJI is the only TrustWorthy Company out there that make drones great video by the way keep it up!

My cheap sjrc f11 holds better than the zino!! Hubsan you are losing sales because of this! Great video I think I will cross zino off my buying list now!

Yes.. the Zino is a scary bird under 5m. and anywhere there is any interference. You are one of the few that still experience dramatic height loss on forward stick after FC 1.1.48 update. Having no downward sensors to speak of was a huge , Huge mistake on Hubsans part. It is what it is. Caviat emptor !

It’s not you buddy! It’s the ZINO and believe it or not some fly pretty well while others have totally different attitudes. It’s a quirky bird!

Thanks. Yeah - I was really hoping that the firmware updates would fix the issue!

Ready Set Drone It fixed a few things with the flight control but still a good way to go yet. Great update process right??? 😂

Ready Set Drone did you do all your calibrations afterwards?
@readysetdrone5 жыл бұрын
@@QCGUY Yes - I had done the compass calibration when I first got it and did the "GPS ACCURACY" thing too and it said that GPS accuracy was good.
@QCGUY5 жыл бұрын
Ready Set Drone Im not pointing the finger at you because I know how finicky this quad is but after any firmware update a compass calibration and the horizontal calibration on flat level surface can do a great deal of good. Before you pass it on to your friend I would be interested to see how it does after those calibrations.

Why do they need a firmware update? Did they not take the thing out and fly it themselves before they started shipping them. Surely they would have discovered the drifting problem and corrected before shipping them to dealers. Why do they do things half ass like this.

Heard many times the GPS on Hubsan is atrocious. Looks like they still haven't figured it out. On Edit Put that damn thing back in the box and send it back before someone gets seriously injured.

As a real pilot and Drone operator, in my opinion this is what happens when drone operators becomes so spoiled by the DJI like spot on accuracy and auto flight control drones....They get so used to that when you put another drone in their hands they immediatly crash or lose control of the drone....Pilot error here through and through... It not the Hubsans fault, it only did what you directed it to...And how could you do a flight positioning test just few feet off the ground....Do your tests at a safe altitude bro instead of below a fence another few feet away to avoid these kind of accidents until you are familiar with your craft....

I myself bought this lemon thinking it was a good deal and had it ever since it came out. I did every update they presented followed all their confusing instructions, and still this crap does nothing right. When I did get it to fly in felt jerky and unresponsive at times, I finally have had it with Hubsan they used to be good but ever since they launched this quad they've been going downhill... Anybody want to buy a quad ...cheap?

Looks uncalibrated. Thats how my pro acts if its due a calibration. BTW........Dont just calibrate for the sake of it. EEPROMS dont like too many overwrites. Only calibrate from new, after a crash or if you are getting erratic behaviour. If you are happy you calibrated it correctly then you have a dodgy Zino, Or maybe the original zino was never any good but the Pro is sweet for the pricepoint. Love it. And I can fly where I like.
